Raging Barons MC – Book Two – Axel -
Axel: Chapter 23
Shar is sitting on the end of the bed smirking to herself, ‘What the fuck Shar, what are you thinking?’
‘Well, we knew we were going to get into trouble, but girl, we hardly got off first base before we got collared.’
I can see her point and although I’m frustrated, I give a small smile, ‘Yeah, we are hopeless for sure. Do you still have your Glock?’
‘Nope, asshole took it.’ Shar responds. She looks about as pissed and sick as I feel.
‘How are we going to get out of here before Axel arrives? You know we’re in deep shit.’ I state while I open and look out the second-floor window to see a brother standing right under it. He looks up and gives me a smirk and wave, disgusted I slam the window closed.
I sit on the chair near the window and rub my hands over my face, disgusted with myself that we didn’t get any answers or headway in replaceing out about this uncle or his gang.
The door opens and Crack walks in with a tray of sandwiches and cans of soda. Turning my back to him, I don’t give him any interest at all.
‘Come on Mia, you know you can’t go runnin’ around putting yourself at risk.’ Crack says, but I don’t respond.
‘Fuck off, asshole.’ Shar snarls at him, and she walks over to the window, effectively giving him her back, too.
‘Axel’s on his way. He’ll decide what’s goin’ to happen when he gets here.’
‘Do you think I’ve not had enough of people running my life, Crack? Do you think I give a shit what you all think or say? I came here to get some information to help save my life and the life of the club I’m living at, well, I was until now, now I’m not sure I want to stay, why would I when again I’m nothing but a commodity, someone to order around.’ Turning at last to look him in the face. ‘My life to this point has been nothing but sheer hell. I’ve worked and struggled to get to this point and again, MC men think they can run my life. I thought you were different, but obviously not.’
‘Come on Mia, you know you are in dangerous water, coming here without a prospect or anyone to protect you. You know that and you knew Axel would not be happy. You’re his ol’ lady, and you got to act like it.’ Crack says with the tone that says he’s trying to calm the situation.
‘Again, fuck off asshole,’ Shar repeats, giving him the stink eye which has him sighing and leaving the room. We hear him locking the door, which has us both even more pissed than we were before he came in.
We eat a sandwich and drink the soda, freshen up in the bathroom and then sit again, trying to think of ways to get away from here before Axel arrives.
Hearing scratching, I look around, thinking to myself, shit, have they got mice or rats here. Looking around, I try to see where the noise is coming from.
Shar stands and looks up. I look up too, and we see a vent move, then disappear into the roof space. Both Shar and I gasp when a head pops out and Zara smiles, ‘Come on ladies, it’s time to get out of here.’
I bend down and cup my hands for Shar to step on to reach the gap; she climbs through then holds both her hands down to pull me up. We manage to get me up with a struggle and I don’t know how, but I was able to not make any noise doing it too.
Crawling along the space, following Zara, we do our best not to make a noise. When we hear voices, we stop and listen.
‘Was Axel real angry?’ Voice One asks.
‘Furious, he’s gonna’ give Mia a real hard time.’ Voice Two states, then has the audacity to laugh, which has me gritting my teeth.
‘They were not happy being locked in the room. I feel a bit bad because Mia has had a hard time being told what to do for a long time. Gunner had her imprisoned for fuck’s sake, so I can understand why she wants to take control of her actions. I’ve always liked her. She is the kind of woman I would love to call mine, but unfortunately, we don’t spark.’
Zara turns to me grinning, then whispers, ‘That’s Crack.’
We stay as we are until they leave the room, then we crawl again. By this time, my knees are killing me, but I’m not complaining.
‘Shit, did we put the vent back?’ I ask, having this feeling we didn’t and they will guess how we got out.
‘Yeah, I did.’ Shar murmurs.
Zara stops and opens another vent, then lowers herself down, with us right behind her. Looking around, we’re in a bedroom and I turn to ask Zara where we are.
‘This is my dad’s room. We can get out to your vehicle and if I distract the prospect on the gate, you’ll have to make a run for it.’ Zara says, then hugs me, ‘I’m sorry I got you caught Mia, I was just excited to see you.’
‘It’s okay. It’s just how it happened. I wish we had got our weapons back, we may need them.’ I say to Shar.
‘Wait here and be quiet, I’ll be right back.’ Zara says, then disappears from the room, leaving both Shar and I looking at each other.
‘Do you trust her?’ Shar asks me and I nod, ‘Yeah, she’s just young, she’s trying to make up for bad times, and I loved her like a daughter, I still have warm feelings for her and would like to keep contact with her in my life.’
The door opens and Zara sneaks back in, handing us our weapons with a huge grin on her face, ‘Men, idiots, they left them in the office drawer.’ both Shar and I giggle at this because she’s learning, growing up, and a little sadness flows through me that I’m missing her turning into a young woman.
‘Thank you Zara, for helping us get out of here.’ I say, giving her a hug.
‘Come on, let’s get you out of here before your man arrives.’
Shar and I quickly follow behind her as she gets us out of the clubhouse and to our vehicle, with no one seeing us. All we have to do now is get out of the compound.
‘Wait until you see him leaving the gate, then go for it. The gate is always open during the day now unless we have trouble.’ Zara says, then turns to me, ‘Can I keep in touch Mia, call you now and again?’
‘Yes, and I’ll see if you can visit too.’ I tell her, giving her another hug.
Nodding at Shar, Zara takes off towards the gate shouting something at the prospect, we are in the vehicle, idling, as soon as the prospect takes off after Zara I gun the engine and we bolt for the gate, taking it fast and getting out before anyone even notices us leaving.
