Chapter 1405 The Unstoppable Destiny

The golden figure gleamed as it appeared. It was none other than the Holy Lord.

"Well, have you accomplished your task? Can you now return to the Star Divine Race and inherit therest of my power to become a true Holy Lord?" The golden figure didn't waste a second before hespoke. His voice sounded firm, which reflected on the serious look on his face.

"Why the hurry? Subduing all the nine calamity beasts and sealing them in the Divine Land took mea long time and great effort. I would appreciate it if you could allow me to take some rest first.Besides, it hasn't been long since you came back to life. If you pass your power on to me so soon,you might die again before you know it. Anyway, I've promised you that I would take over yourposition, remember? I have even inherited some of your power. Do you really still have doubts thatI'd run away?" Rocky replied, his brows pushed into a frown.

He heaved a sigh after realizing he had already exhausted his strength after his battle with WraithKing Sebastian's soul. His body felt weak and feeble. After he had through everything in the world,all he wanted was some peace and serenity for the rest of his life. All that, however, had beeninterrupted by something he did not expect. Not long ago, the calamity beasts had come back toreality and started harming living creatures in the world.

In order to save the Wild Spirit Land one more time and protect everything he cherished there,Rocky had reached an agreement with the Holy Lord—eventually, he had to become his successor.The test Rocky faced to succeed him enabled him to inherit a part of the power of the Holy Lord soas to control the Divine Spiritual Source again

Through his inherited power and the Divine Spiritual Source, it came easy for him to suppress andbring the nine calamity beasts that aggressed the entire Wild Spirit Land into the Divine Land andseal them there. It was all thanks to his effort that the Wild Spirit Land could escape from quite atragic disaster yet again.

After saving them, Rocky was supposed to return to the Star Divine Race to inherit the divine powerfrom the Holy Lord. It was just as they had agreed on, so he reckoned there were no other optionsleft for him back then but to agree on it. However, now that the Wild Spirit Land was safe and freefrom the calamity beasts, his relief caused irresolution in his mind. Suddenly, he felt unwilling to goback to the Star Divine Race. To be more exact, it was the last thing he wanted. After all, once hebecame an actual Holy Lord, he would need to treat everything and everyone in the world as merean outsider—including his beloved Wild Spirit Land. What seemed worse for him was the fact thatunder no circumstances could he reunite with Marcia, Isis and other women.

Needless to say, he was having strong urges of entertaining his ambivalence. He decided to play thewaiting game, sincerely hoping he could delay going back with the Holy Lord.

"Listen. I made a big mistake in the past and had long lost the qualifications I need to be the HolyLord. I hope you understand. I just want to pass down the position as soon as possible so I canfinally be reincarnated to atone for my sins in my next life," the Holy Lord said. His soft voicesounded like a long and heavy sigh.

"Oh, come on. Don't feel so despondent. You're a deity! Gather your courage and snap out of it. Inless than no time, I'm sure you'll recover and even regain your passion and composure. How about Ireturn the strength to you so you can continue being the Holy Lord? I'll just stay in the Divine Land.If one day you get tired of being the Holy Lord, I will take over your position then.” Rockyimmediately grabbed the opportunity to draw up a plan in his favor.

"Humph. I know you're trying to coax me. It's quite obvious that you just don't want to take myplace since you still have some attachment to the Wild Spirit Land..." The Holy Lord trailed off as helooked away from Rocky. He had already seen through Rocky.

"Well, I'm not saying I'm not going to do it. It's just that they have now become so vulnerable thatthe tiniest attacks could ruin them altogether. If I assume the responsibility as a Holy Lord now,there's going to be an absolute reason for me to go out of my way and help the Wild Spirit Land ifsomething happens to them. I just can't do it right now. I can only become the Holy Lord whenthey've finally regained their vitality,” Rocky replied and shrugged.

"Young man, I told you that every land has its fate. The Wild Spirit Land will soon suffer anothercatastrophe as fate has decided. No matter what you do to save it this time, it cannot escape thefate of destruction in the end.” The Holy Lord looked very solemn, and his voice was void ofamusement when he spoke.

Hearing what the Holy Lord said, Rocky fell out of sorts. "Another catastrophe? Soon? It's not goingto happen at least for another year, right? Or maybe several years after that?"

"Let me ask you this then. Do you think the calamity beasts suddenly reappeared for no reason? Callto mind some recent incidences. Since the Divine Spiritual Source was gathered, you would thinkthat the calamity beasts would disappear. However, they didn't. Instead, they willfully reemerged.They were taking advantage of the fact that the Wild Spirit Land had begun to collapse. Despite thesupport of the Divine Spiritual Source, however, it's no longer capable of maintaining the balance ofthe land. This collapse is the consequence of this looming catastrophe,” the Holy Lord explained indetail.

"Can't you at least tell me what kind of catastrophe it is?" It seemed to Rocky that the Holy Lord wastantalizing him, so he frowned with dissatisfaction.

"I'm afraid I cannot do that. If you replace out, I'm convinced that you'll have second thoughts andchange your mind once more," the Holy Lord said in response. He already knew Rocky very well."You might be forgetting that I've inherited some of your power. Even though you refuse to tell me,I still have a way to know," Rocky threatened, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Fine. I will tell you, but you have to promise me that you will never interfere this time. You must notdo anything that may disturb the fate of the Wild Spirit Land.” After a moment of hesitation, theHoly Lord gave in to Rocky's intimidation.

"All right. Just tell me what's going to happen so that I could at least warn Marcia and the others toreplace a solution for themselves," Rocky said as he finally compromised. He knew that if the Holy Lorddidn't tell him directly, he would waste a lot of time just to figure out the catastrophe that wasbound to happen. Thus, even if he discovered it by himself, it might be a little too late for thecreatures of the Wild Spirit Land. Therefore, he decided to let the Holy Lord tell him the informationso he could immediately come up with a plan to prevent it.

"You better keep your promise!" Upon saying that, the Holy Lord waved his hand in the air andanother light shadow was suddenly projected in front of Rocky that spread out like a mirror. Soonenough, a huge and ominous gate-shaped building emerged in it.

"What the hell is that?" As soon as Rocky saw the mysterious building, he instantly had a bad feelingas if his guts were telling him that it was going to bring devastating trouble. After all, this was notsupposed to appear on the Wild Spirit Land.

"This is the special gate that could connect two different worlds!" the Holy Lord replied briefly."Why would this gate start to show itself in the Wild Spirit Land? Don’t tell me—" Rocky wasn't ableto finish his sentence as a dreadful thought struck him which was actually a possible answer to hisquestion.

"This gate is opened from the other world by force so that it could open from this side. There areusually only two cases when the gate appears and is opened. One is that one world is about tocollapse and the people there have no other choice but to escape to the other one to survive. Theother one is that the creatures from one world opened the gate by force to invade the other,” theHoly Lord explained further.

"So, which is the case for the Wild Spirit Land now?" Rocky asked hesitantly, vaguely knowing theanswer already.

"You know that the Wild Spirit Land is already fated to perish. Even though you managed to stopthe calamity beasts, you can't stop its original destiny. Now, the Wild Spirit Land is to be invaded bythe alien land from the other side of the gate. So, to answer your question, both of the reasons arehappening right now," the Holy Lord said straightforwardly.

"What kind of creatures are there in that alien land? Since they possess the power to forcibly open agate like this, I can't begin to imagine how powerful they are!" Rocky exclaimed as he was overcomeby anxiety.
