Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 151 An Amazing Plan
Everyone in the northeast military camp was celebrating Rocky's magnificent return. During all thefestivities, Rocky managed to slide out of everyone's eyesight and went to a secluded part of thecamp. He snuck out to join Uriah who was patiently waiting by the exit of the military camp.
"Let's go, boy. We'll have to pick Rubygon up and replace a suitable place for the both of you toexercise your newfound abilities.” Rocky waved at Uriah, and the spirit-manipulated beast instantlyknew what he meant. Rocky then, in tandem with the beast, sneaked off towards the village to theeast of the military camp.
It was not long until they arrived at the east village. The villagers looked at Rocky and Uriah for abrief second, and went on with their lives. Their arrival looked like something that happened tothem usually with how casual the villagers were with them.
Rocky and Uriah made their way to the sheepfold near Jackson's house. The sight of Sue holdingRubygon as the latter drank goat's milk welcomed them. Her beautiful face was filled withconcentration as she watched the beast drink; she did not even notice Rocky arrived. Her sideprofile was as gentle and as delicate as carved jade. “She'll grow up to be a beautiful woman, * Rockythought to himself.
"Ow ow!" It was at this exact moment when Uriah let out a cry, as if to get the attention of peoplearound them. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere was suddenly disrupted, and Rocky was suddenlyawoken from his daydream.
Sue turned to where the noise came from, and there she found Rocky standing outside thesheepfold. He was looking straight at her. Her cold and unsmiling demeanor somehow made herfeel weird, in a good way. She couldn't help but blush.
"What are you looking at?" Sue stared back at Rocky with her beautiful eyes, somehow annoyed atthe way Rocky was glaring at her.
"I've come to pick up Rubygon,” Rocky answered. His eyes darted to Sue's arms where Rubygon wascradled.
"Rubygon who? I haven't heard anyone with that name before. You're definitely at the wrong place.Go replace it somewhere else.” Upon hearing Rocky's words, Sue tensed up and held Rubygon closer inher arms. She turned her back from him.
When Rocky finally picked up that Sue actually wanted to keep Rubygon, he was undeniablydisheartened. It would seem like Sue developed a liking for Rubygon.
"Sue, don't be ridiculous,” Jackson blurted as he limped out from the room. He seemed to haveinjured his foot.
"Jackson, is your foot hurt?" Rocky immediately asked upon seeing him.
Sue answered with anguish, "This is because you—" But she was cut off by Jackson before she couldeven finish her sentence.
"I'm fine. I was coming home from herding sheep when I had a little accident and sprained my foot.I'll be fine after taking a two days’ rest,” Jackson promptly assured Rocky. He waved his handdismissively but he got to come up with a reasonable explanation for his limp.
"Grandpa, your foot injury is obviously because of—" Sue tried to add, but she decided to bite hertongue halfway when she saw Jackson's disapproving look.
"Jackson, if you ever run into any kind of trouble, please do not hesitate to ask me for help," Rockypleaded. He knew something was off when he noticed how many times Jackson tried to silence Sue.The two were definitely keeping something from him. He was never the one to meddle with otherpeople's lives. But it was different with Jackson. He was one of the few he actually wanted to helpbecause Jackson was a nice man, and he sure could use some help. He had always asked Jackson forgoat's milk, but not once did he complain. He was also always very welcoming and accommodating, serving Rocky tea or water whenever he visited. So naturally, Rocky couldn't help but feel obligatedto help Jackson if he got in trouble.
"I'm fine, really,” Jackson insisted. "Sue, stop acting like a child. You knew we are to take care ofRubygon only for a while. Rocky has come to take it back,” he ordered his granddaughter.
"But grandpa!" Sue hugged Rubygon even more tightly and looked very unwilling to surrender it."You're a very stubborn girl, Sue. Do you know that?" Jackson raised his voice at Sue. Hepainstakingly dragged himself inside the sheepfold to snatch Rubygon from Sue. Jackson winced atevery step. He did not bother hiding how painful his leg was. His leg throbbed as he moved, andthen finally, he fell down to the ground
Sue panicked at the sight of her fallen grandfather. Despite this, her face remained beautiful. Shehurriedly put Rubygon down and quickly made a way to where Jackson fell.
"Jackson! Are you okay?" Rocky immediately went to the older man's aid when he saw him fall. While he was helping Jackson up, he couldn't help but notice his injured leg. He saw the woundunder his torn trouser legs. It was a huge gash and around it were multiple scars. It certainly did notlook like a sprain.
"I'm okay. I'm just getting old. My legs and arms are not as limber as they used to be," Jacksonreassured Rocky, letting out a sad sigh.
"Sue, tell me the truth. Who made Jackson's leg this way?" Rocky asked Sue. Impatience could beheard from his voice. His face had grown serious.
Sue glanced at Jackson and bit her lower lip. She hesitated for a while, but decided to tell the truth."The people from your military camp. I know you're from the same camp because they werewearing the same clothes as you. When grandpa was on his way home from tending our sheep, heunfortunately crossed paths with three thugs. They took a sheep from us and kicked grandpa's footmercilessly.”
"You mean to say spirit manipulators did this to Jackson? Did you catch their names?" Rocky's voicewent ice cold. His eyes were instantly brimming with rage.
"I'm sorry. I didn't get any of their names. But they usually come to the village to ransack somefarms and rob chickens, ducks, cattle, and sheep. We have come to know they are no different frombandits. They kept saying they deserve the livestock they're taking from us. They said it's just faircompensation for keeping us safe. Ugh! That is pure and utter bullshit!" Sue grew angrier the moreshe told stories of the evil deeds of these said military people. Out of her frustration, she acted outand got unladylike.
After hearing this, Rocky looked at Jackson's injured leg and immediately ordered Sue, "Go fetchsome hot water. I'll try and patch up your grandpa.”
"Okay, that seems manageable.” Sue quickly went to work and scrambled into the room.
Rocky helped Jackson to a wooden stool just outside their house. He pulled up Jackson's trouser legand thoroughly examined his wounds.
"Your bones must have been broken. Those people kicked you way too hard," Rocky said as hegrimaced at the old man's injure.
"Rocky, you don't need to mind me. We have been long accustomed to this kind of thing. It's goodenough for us villagers to live in peace and stability," Jackson said very softly.
"It's our job to protect you. What's not part of our job is harassing civilians like you," Rocky cried outloudly. He was fuming with anger. His temper was only getting worse. His little outburst startledJackson and Sue who had just returned from fetching a basin of hot water.
Jackson did not expect Rocky to care so much for them. He let out a sigh of relief. Rocky had provenhimself different from those people. He had known that from the start, but Rocky's dismay to hisfellow spirit manipulators further confirmed it. He patted Rocky's shoulder with his shriveled handand said, "Rocky, I am very grateful that you care for me so much. However, just like the old sayinggoes, do not try to throw straws against the wind. These people are powerful, and you do not standa chance against them. You have to promise me that you're letting this trivial matter go. Going upagainst them will lead to no good.”
Rocky saw the sincerity in Jackson's plea. He blinked a few times and something baneful flashedbehind his eyes. "If they come again to bother you, tell them I won't let them get away easily,"Rocky told Jackson.
The older man was rendered speechless with what Rocky just uttered. He nodded in agreement as asmile formed in his face.
Sue had just returned from fetching hot water. She entered the room and handed the basin toRocky.
Rocky took the basin of hot water and brought out a bottle from his silk bag. This bottle containedthe magical saliva he extracted from Uriah. This magical spit suddenly reminded him of the DarkHeaven Insect he had just slain. When they arrived at the village, the Dark Heaven Insect seemed tohave burrowed underground. But when Rocky accidentally dropped the bottle of magical saliva, thespirit-manipulated beast crawled out of its underground cave and resurfaced. It seemed to beattracted to Uriah's spit.
'It's said in the Beast Encyclopedia that Dark Heaven Insect lives deep underground. It only climbsout to the surface once every few years. They would sometimes last a decade without resurfacing.Countless spirit manipulators tried every possible means to draw Dark Heaven Insects out of theirburrows, but none of them had succeeded. They had tried luring the spirit-manipulated beast withits favorite spiritual crystal, but it still felt short seducing Dark Heaven Insect up to the surface. It wascommon knowledge Dark Heaven Insects to be extremely difficult to catch. But the magical salivacould attract the Dark Heaven Insect. Maybe luring it out of its underground cave would not be toohard to do..." Rocky could not believe he had just formulated such a brilliant strategy in catching aDark Heaven Insect. His eyes sparkled as he imagined how his amazing plan would pan out.
