Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 166 Disappear In Situ (Part Two)
As soon as he arrived at the entrance of Marin's camp, Rocky heard the sound of people arguinginside. It seemed the dispute was about what happened at the front line.
"Commander, I think the issue still needs to be discussed further. If we send troops to the front linerashly, I am afraid that it will cause unnecessary disputes.” Came the solemn voice of DeputyCommander Chen.
"Yeah, I agree with him. We haven't investigated the identity of the two spies yet. More importantly,we haven't captured the person who murdered our people stationed at the outpost of our frontline." Another solemn voice rang out.
"Aside from the Timber Deity Empire, who else will engage in this kind of plot? Not only have theysent spies to our empire, but they have also killed our people to challenge us and establish theirauthority. Do you know what I think? I think the Timber Deity Empire wants to provoke us to start awar. Since they dared to act so blatantly within the area of our northeast military camp, I will not letthem go easily..." Marin's indignant screams echoed so loud it could be heard from outside.
"Right, has Rocky come back now?" Marin asked suddenly.
"Not yet," Deputy Commander Chen answered.
"The final destination for the secret mission that I assigned to him was the outpost at the front linewhere the slaughtering incident happened. If he's not lucky, I am afraid... It was all my fault. Ishouldn't have sent him to carry out the secret mission,” Marin said regretfully. There was a hint ofsadness and guilt in her voice.
"Yeah? Then why did you send me to carry out the secret mission? Commander, I guess yousincerely wanted me to get killed." At that point, Marin and the two Deputy Commanders heard thebantering sound from outside the camp and looked up to replace its source. Immediately, they saw afigure walked in. His face was all-too-familiar.
"Rocky, you are back!" they exclaimed in surprise. When the three saw Rocky appear in front ofthem, they looked a little bit shocked. They didn't expect Rocky to make it back safely.
"Why are you so surprised? Don't you want me to come back?" Rocky asked. His voice was sarcastic."No, no... We just thought you..." Deputy Commander Chen stuttered. He then dismissed it bywaving his hand, thinking that Rocky was so lucky to have escaped from the horrible incident.
Both Marin and the other Deputy Commander held the same kind of thought. He often seemed tobe quite lucky, especially in the face of danger.
What they would never have imagined though, was that it was Rocky who had killed the two spies. Not only that, he was also responsible for the death of several mercenaries who had slaughtered thesoldiers and the spirit manipulators from the outpost. If Marin knew the truth, Rocky woulddefinitely be rewarded another big merit.
However, Rocky certainly did not plan to let Marin know what he did. He wouldn't be stupid enoughto ask for the unnecessary trouble!
"It's good to see you back!" Marin breathed a sigh of relief. The guilt in her voice had disappeared.Earlier, in order to replace out more secrets about him, she sent Rocky to perform the secret mission.Meanwhile, she ordered one of her subordinates to follow Rocky on the way, but somehow, thesubordinate lost him halfway. Then, the two spies who were suspected from the Timber DeityEmpire were found dead. Rocky suddenly disappeared from then on. After that, she received newsthat the outpost at the front line was attacked and that no one had survived. If anything badhappened to Rocky during that time, she would naturally be blamed for it.
"This is the secret letter that I failed to deliver.” Rocky placed the secret letter on Marin's desk. Hissecret mission was to deliver the letter to the top officer at the outpost of the front line. Since thetop officer did not survive the attack, Rocky was not able to complete his mission.
"Have you been to the outpost?” Marin asked immediately when she saw the letter. She looked atRocky warily.
Rocky nodded at once. He did not need to lie about being there. He just needed to make sure theynever found out he was there during the attack.
"When you arrived, were the people there already dead?”
"Yes," Rocky responded. His tone was devoid of any kind of emotion.
"Do you know who did that?" Marin asked further. Her eyes narrowed. It was like she was assessingRocky's tone and body language.
"I have no idea.” Rocky shook his head, but in fact, he couldn't be more aware of the answer. Afterall, he was involved in the incident. But of course, she should not know that.
"Did you see anyone suspicious?" Marin asked again. She wasn't satisfied by the lack of informationshe was getting from Rocky. Surely he must have at least noticed something useful.
Still, Rocky shook his head. Unable to extract any useful information, she decided to let him go.
"All right. I've asked enough questions. You can leave now. You need to have a good rest after sucha long day," Marin said as she gave Rocky a strange look.
Rocky instantly left the camp without looking back.
"Investigate the identity of the two spies right away. Also, replace out the murderer who has attackedthe outpost..." Marin ordered the two Deputy Commanders as her eyes grew colder and sharper. She was determined to replace and punish those who dared to attack them.
The two Deputy Commanders accepted the order and left.
As soon as they were out of Marin's camp, a delicate figure abruptly appeared next to Marin.
"Stop investigating Rocky for the time being. You need to go back and report everything aboutRocky honestly to the Deputy Commander in Chief. You also need to report the discovery of thespies’ corpses and the slaughtering incident at the outpost. I want to hear her opinion about thesetwo things,” Marin said to the figure. The figure turned out to be one of Isis's personal guard. Shecame to the northeast military camp with Marin only to investigate Rocky. However, so manyunexpected things happened when she had just started the investigation. Thus, she had no way butto put aside the investigation for a while. Urgent things were given more focus which meant shehad lesser time to investigate Rocky.
After hearing Marin's instructions, the figure immediately disappeared in situ. It was like she wasnever there to begin with. Apparently, she was a mighty warrior with formidable martial skills.
