Chapter 224 It Finally Dawned On Rocky

At the moment, only Marin was in the camp. Sheridan had already left for the beast farm just a fewmoments ago.

"Where have you been?!" Marin shouted, aghast. "Don't you know that it's against the militaryregulations to go outside without permission?" She glowered at Rocky angrily as soon as she sawhim walk in.

"I'm just a feeder. I'm not a soldier or a spirit manipulator. I'm not bound by military regulations,”Rocky responded, indifferent to her anger.

"Regardless! As you work in the military camp, it doesn't matter if you are a feeder or whatever, youhave to obey the military regulations,” Marin snapped back, irritated by Rocky's lackadaisicalattitude

"All right,” Rocky responded casually.

"So? Where have you been?" Marin eyed him, curious about where Rocky had actually been overthe past few days.

"Nowhere interesting, really. I just hung around downtown." Rocky shrugged, seeming as indifferentas ever. He didn't mention what went on in the Spiritual Fairyland, but he was sure that Isis wouldtell Marin about it later on. For now, he could really only give her a vague answer.

"I wanted to ask... Were the rumors true?" Marin glanced at Rocky, suspicious of his evasiveness. Shewasn't inclined to believe him anyway, as she didn't believe he'd tell her the truth. So she gotstraight to the point. "I heard that Sheridan took you up as his apprentice.”

"I didn’t accept the position,” Rocky simply answered with a shrug.

"Are you an idiot? Sheridan is an absolutely extraordinary beast tamer and beast curer! Even HisMajesty...!" Marin was just starting to get excited, determined to turn Rocky's careless countenancearound, but then he cut her off before she could continue.

"Even His Majesty invited him to the Palace City. I've heard all about that." Rocky rolled his eyes,finishing her sentence.

"If you already know, then you should also know that it's an honor. Buckle down, be serious andlearn from Sheridan's expertise,” Marin retorted coldly.

"It seems that you care about me very much,” Rocky teased, familiarity in his tone and his lipscurved up in a smirk as he noted Marin's excited reaction.

"Bullshit!" Marin protested, flushing to the roots of her hair with embarrassment.

"Well that's even more reassuring. You're not my cup of tea anyway. Soft, gentle girls are more mytype,” Rocky remarked, nodding at Marin before flouncing off.

Marin glared hotly as she watched him leave, muttering to herself indignantly, "Am I not gentle?!"She came to her senses quickly, shaking off the very idea angrily. Whatever kind of girls Rocky likedwas absolutely none of her concern.

After leaving Marin's camp, Rocky trudged towards the beast farm to replace Sheridan. Sheridan wasdelighted to see him with a big grin on his face.

"Kid, where have you been these days?" Sheridan asked jovially.

"I was on leave. And I heard you came to Commander Marin just to replace out where I was.” Rocky wasa little incredulous. He didn't expect Sheridan to care about him so much.

"Good, I was worried that something bad might have happened to you. After all, where else would Ireplace as talented an apprentice as you?" Sheridan snorted, rolling his eyes.

"Everything's fine. If there isn't anything else, I have to go." Rocky turned away, as he had only comehere to reassure Sheridan of his whereabouts. But now he needed to go back to the Ghost Villageand study the Heaven Divine Lotus Seeds.

"Wait a minute, now. You've been away for few days. There are a lot of things I have to talk to youabout! And you can't leave until you hear me out.” And with that, Sheridan dragged Rocky into thebeast stable. Once safely inside, he took a breath and began what was a long sermon.

In the dead of night, everything was still.

It was only at this hour that Sheridan finally, and reluctantly, let go of Rocky. It was getting quitelate, after all. Rocky then sneaked out of the military camp and returned to the Ghost Village.

After not having seen Rocky for a few days, Uriah was anxious to catch sight of him. Upon seeingRocky, Uriah broke into a sprint and shouted wildly.

"Relax. I'm back safe and sound." Sensing Uriah's worry, Rocky stroked its head reassuringly, makingsoothing sounds.

Finally, Uriah calmed down and licked Rocky's hand. At the sight of that action, Rubygon grewjealous, trotting over in an attempt to draw Uriah's attention from Rocky.

Rocky laughed at that and returned Uriah to Rubygon before finally heading to the abandonedhouse next door. Here, in safe quarters, he took out a Heaven Divine Seed and settled in to study it.The Heaven Divine Seed was roughly the size of an egg. Its surface was smooth and gently glitteringin a subtle sheen. Touching it, it felt like a stone. But if it was being squeezed, it felt as though it hada pit, which was amazing.

"Now, how do I use it to heighten my power?" Rocky murmured to himself, puzzled. He tried torefine it with his spiritual power in an attempt to see whether the Heaven Divine Seed could beaffected in ways similar to that of the Dark Heaven Egg. But he found himself disappointed, as theHeaven Divine Seed could not be used in this way.

Failing that, Rocky tried several other ways but they were all for naught. He was baffled by themystery of the Heaven Divine Seed. Although it was priceless, it would be of no use to him if hecouldn't figure out how to refine it.

It finally got pretty late, and Rocky decided to put away the Heaven Divine Seed, planning to study ittomorrow. Then he walked out of the room and summoned Uriah and Rubygon to him. He took fivedrops of the magical saliva from Uriah's mouth and then worked on Rubygon's brain nerves for thenext two hours. Finally, he went into the nest and checked in on the status of the three Dark HeavenInsects. Satisfied, he finally went back to his quarters and cultivated for the night.

The next morning, Rocky prepared just enough fertile soil for the three Dark Heaven Insects beforeheading to the military camp. He had been instructed to meet Marin as soon as he arrived at thegate.

'What in the world does Marin want to meet me for?’ Rocky wondered, eyes narrowed in suspicionas he walked towards Marin's quarters.

He found Marin reading a letter when he entered the space. Upon seeing Rocky, Marin's expressiongrew dark and thunderous.

Immediately, Rocky had the hunch that he might be in vast jeopardy. Marin stood and walkedtowards him, giving him a once-over before she said, "It seems you made quite a sensation whilehanging around downtown. The Deputy Commander in Chief herself explicitly sent me a letter thatI'm to discuss with you."

"I'm quite honored," Rocky replied with an eyebrow raised. He continued, "And what did the DeputyCommander in Chief say?"

"Well, what do you think she said? If you haven't done anything wrong, then there should benothing to worry about, is there?" Marin replied, probing.

"I'm not worried about anything. I'm just curious as to why the Deputy Commander in Chiefmentioned me," Rocky responded coolly.

"She asked me to tell you that the Heaven Divine is born from fire,” Marin answered while casting asuspicious glance at Rocky. She looked mildly confused as this statement made no sense to her. Shehad no idea why her cousin asked her to send those words to Rocky.

"The Heaven Divine is born from fire?" Rocky repeated thoughtfully, mulling it over. Suddenly hiseyes brightened in realization. Without another word, he turned and left.

Marin was left only with more questions than answers as she watched Rocky leave so quickly.
