Chapter 259 Great Proud

Rocky waited for a few minutes but the door remained closed. He then decided to leave. Rockyturned to leave but was surprised when the door suddenly opened without warning. Marin stoodthere in the doorway. She wore a purple, gauzy, loose dress. Her cheeks blushed in deep red. Shelooked just as amazing when Rocky met her for the first time.

Marin appeared more bewitching when they first met while she looked more alluring as she stoodin that doorway. She looked different on those two instances although each had its own particularattractive appeal.

'If Marin spends more time on looking her best, countless men will throw themselves at her feet. It isa pity that she prefers to always look serious, wearing heavy armor. No one can see past her armorand see her true beauty!" Rocky commented in heart after looking Marin up and down.

"Come in," Marin said. She raised her head and found Rocky staring at her. Her face blushed in aninstant. She quickly stepped aside to let Rocky enter her room.

Rocky walked into the room without hesitation.

Marin closed the door and hastily pulled down all the curtains. She was worried that others wouldsee Rocky go into her room so late at night. She didn't want any rumor of their meeting to goaround. Marin's feminine sensibility was unwilling to hear any rumor about her and Rocky because itcould do great harm to her reputation.

Rocky looked around as he entered Marin's room. It was an old room yet neat and clean. It wasdecorated in a style that accentuated efficiency and simplicity. Rocky then noticed a light fragranceof orchids that filled the room.

Marin had an embarrassed and uneasy expression. It was the first time that she was in the sameroom with a man at night. Even during daytime, no one was allowed to enter her room, moreespecially a man.

"Are you ready? I want to see your dance..." Rocky said as he suppressed a light laughter at the sightof Marin’s uneasy look.

Marin gently bit her pink lips at the sound of Rocky's words. She stared briefly at Rocky and said,"Could you make a different request?"

"Well. How about you sing to me?" Rocky said smiling.

Rocky's words made Marin pout and she felt a little irritated. However, she quickly realized that shedid give Rocky her word. She had to do what Rocky asked.

"To be honest, I'm not good at singing nor at dancing,”

Marin said. She gave great importance to her reputation and how people regarded her. However,for Marin who was determined to be a soldier since childhood, singing and dancing were bothactivities that she never bothered to learn because it would not help advance her objective of beinga soldier.

Seeing Marin in this helpless state made Rocky smile. He only wanted to play with her. However,Marin took his words seriously. She wanted to express her sincere gratitude for Rocky's rescue ofVerdanim. Rocky wouldn't decline that kindness now that the game had escalated.

"Can you make another request? I can tell you a story,” Marin said with her eyes focused on Rocky.Rocky shook his head slowly and shrugged with the same smile. Then he dipped the left side of hishead forward slowly that signaled Marin to start her dance. He stared at Marin quietly as he waitedfor her to keep her promise.

Marin hesitated for a second. She took a deep breath with her eyes closed

Rocky was a gentleman who wouldn't force a girl to dance against her will. He jumped forward andcaught Marin's hands before she had a chance to start her dance. "You don't need to do that," hesaid quietly.

Marin was shocked. The touch of Rocky's warm hands all over her hands overwhelmed her. She wasstartled and stepped back hurriedly in an embarrassed state. In her haste, she failed to avoid theedge of her bed and she was knocked out of balance, falling backwards.

Afraid that Marin might get hurt, Rocky's reflexes sprang into play. He jumped forward to catchMarin's hands to prevent her fall.

"Sorry, I didn't mean it," Rocky said helplessly. He quickly realized his unnecessary action afterseeing that Marin would not be hurt by the fall since she'd be falling on her bed anyway. And yetthe intent of that action meant very differently to Marin.

Marin glared at him as if he was a brazen scoundrel that had made an unforgivable move againsther. Rocky was actually innocent and did so out of good intention.

"How can I ever trust you now?" Marin shouted, looking at Rocky with eyes that burned with fury.Marin thought that Rocky acted with evil intent and she was suddenly filled with great regret.Rocky was aware that no amount of explanation would make Marin believe him. He resignedhimself to his fate and said, "You can misunderstand it as reward for saving Verdanim. Now, we'reeven!" Rocky sighed to himself, got up and then turned away.

He left Marin's room in deep thought. He took the joke too far, that much was true. However, Rockythought, after that event, it was less likely that Marin would give him any trouble now.

First Isis, and then now Marin got unintentionally molested by Rocky because of her owncarelessness. Rocky imagined that these ladies must owe something to him in a previous life. Hesmiled uneasily at that thought. He now contemplated the possibility that he was forever cursedwith bad romance!
