Chapter 272 A Risky Try

Rocky understood very well that his chance to win a direct confrontation against the timber spiritmanipulator was very low. Uriah and Rubygon fighting together would be a match for the JumboHorned Beetle alone. Rocky had to go against the timber spirit manipulator by himself and thisplaced him at a great disadvantage. He desperately needed help to win.

The weakened Dark Heaven Insect Queen caught Rocky's attention. The venom had weakened thequeen enough that it remained immobile. Rocky wondered what would happen if he helped thequeen to get rid of the venom in its body. He wondered if it would feel grateful enough to help.There was nothing that assured the success of this idea. The queen could easily attack Rocky, once itregained its strength, for he weakened it in the first place.

"Definitely risky...but I have no other choice!" Rocky quickly made up his mind. There was no time tocome up with other ideas at that point.

The roar of the Jumbo Horned Beetle filled the air as it entered the area coming from the MagicSpiritual Space. The trees trembled from the deep sound of its roar. The ground shook and dustmotes rose up to the air as if greeting its arrival. It stared at Rocky, Uriah and Rubygon with keenfury.

"Go get them, boy!" It was obvious that the timber spirit manipulator intended to let his spirit-manipulated beast do all the fighting. He was convinced that his pet was more than enough. Hisinitial impression of Rocky caused him to grossly underestimate Rocky's abilities.

The Jumbo Horned Beetle rushed at Rocky's group. Despite his predicament, Rocky remained calmand made whistling signals that were all too familiar to Uriah and Rubygon. They immediately knewexactly what to do. Uriah bounded towards the rushing horned beetle with Rubygon close behind.They moved from left to right and then to the left once more as they moved forward. This confusedthe horned beetle where to attack and from which direction to defend.

Their movements created that initial confusion that bought them the needed advantage for thatfirst clash.

The fight with the Dark Heaven Insect Queen had weakened both Uriah and Rubygon. The magicalsaliva was not enough to bring them both to their peak power with very little time to rest after thatlast fight. They now went against a Jumbo Horned Beetle at the third grade of three-star level. Theywere obviously at a disadvantage.

The melee escalated very quickly.

Uriah and Rubygon blocked the horned beetle well. Rocky set his eyes on the timber spiritmanipulator. Malice blazed in his eyes and yet something made him hesitate to attack Rockydirectly.

'Did he actually believe what I said, that I have companions? Better move quickly and get this showon the road!" Rocky thought to himself. He smiled smugly and exclaimed, "This guy is such a wimp!He is so afraid of a sneak attack that he doesn't want to join the fight! Get yourself ready! We kickhis ass at my signal!"

Hearing Rocky's words, the timber spirit manipulator became enraged. His eyes turned to narrowslits of burning rage that matched the anger pumping into his heart. Without a second thought, hejumped into the air and dashed towards Rocky with a clenched fist. He planned to take down Rockyas fast as possible before Rocky's “friend’ came out of nowhere to help

An evil smile slowly crept at the corner of Rocky's lips. Now that the timber spirit manipulator hadbeen goaded to fight, Rocky knew he had to move to the next stage of his plan. He turned his backto the timber spirit manipulator and ran.

"You taunt me and then you run? There is no escape for you!" Thunder roared as lightning circledthe timber spirit manipulators fists. He pointed his fists towards Rocky's direction and a bluish whiteball of energy flew out. It rotated as it flew towards Rocky. The branches of trees creaked andgroaned as they bent towards this ball of force as if it sucked in everything in its path.

Kraka-boom!

The ball of energy smashed against a cluster of trees to Rocky's left side. The impact felled severalmature trees and the fallen branches blocked Rocky's path.

Rocky made a sharp turn to avoid the fallen trees that blocked his path. At the same time, thetimber spirit manipulator aimed another Lightning Thunder Fist at Rocky and fired away. It hitanother cluster of trees and the fallen trees blocked Rocky's path once more. Rocky made anothersharp turn to avoid the new group of fallen trees. He ran as if he feared for his very life.

The trees around Rocky fell one cluster after another creating an obstructive perimeter.

"There is nowhere else for you to go!" the timber spirit manipulator called out to Rocky with a scorn.An expression of surprise filled the timber spirit manipulator's face when Rocky suddenly stoppedrunning and turned towards him. A sudden change from surprise to anger crossed the timber spiritmanipulator's face as Rocky shrugged his shoulders and grinned. Rocky then threw his arms wideopen to his sides and said, "Who said I was running away? I am worried that you will run away!"Upon hearing those words, an expression of absolute confusion filled the timber spirit manipulator'sface. No matter how hard he tried, he failed to fathom the meaning behind Rocky's words.

The timber spirit manipulator was surprised that the Dark Heaven Insect was right next to Rocky.The timber spirit manipulator stood surprised at a good distance from the two. The situation, itseemed, now had the potential to be completely reversed.

A reversal that resulted from Rocky's deception. He pretended to run away that concealed the trueplan. A plan that involved positioning himself near the Dark Heaven Insect Queen. And before thetimber spirit manipulator even suspected anything, it was all too late. He was already ensnared inRocky's well-planned trap.

Before the timber spirit manipulator understood what was happening and reacted to the situation,Rocky rushed to the side of the Dark Heaven Insect Queen and pulled out a bottle from his pocket.The magical saliva was unsealed with one movement from Rocky. He then positioned in front of theDark Heaven Insect Queen as Rocky whispered to it. "I know we were enemies just moments ago.But if we do not work together now, we will both die by his hand. He will even take away your eggsmercilessly from your corpse. I hope you understand now why I am doing what I am doing rightnow. Now drink it all!"

The Dark Heaven Insect Queen might be immobile because of the venom, yet it still retained itsconsciousness. Its large dark eyes turned towards Rocky as if understanding his words. One of itslarge heads then moved towards Rocky and licked the magical saliva

The magical saliva not only accelerated the metabolism to easily heal wounds, it also detoxified thebody of its imbiber. Each ounce of the magical saliva that the queen drank counteracted the effectsof the Centipede-snake’s venom that paralyzed it. The queen wriggled on the ground as the magicalsaliva took effect.

The Dark Heaven Insect Queen raised its scorpion tail slowly as the magical saliva worked on itsbody.

Rocky then worried about what the queen would do after it regained its strength from the magicalsaliva. He faced the possibility of getting killed by the Dark Heaven Insect Queen as payback forwhat it suffered from Rocky earlier or help Rocky to win against the timber spirit manipulator.Rocky started to feel apprehensive of what the insect queen would decide to do.

Rocky slowly positioned himself in front of the insect queen as he gave it the magical saliva to showthat his intentions were pure. It was part of the Beast Taming Skill that Rocky learned from Sheridan.The timber spirit manipulator tried to see what Rocky was doing but Rocky's back was towards himand that was all he could see at that distance.

This was a risky plan from the start and Rocky understood the risks, and that he literally gambledwith his life on it. But Rocky had no other choice. Either he succeeded in soliciting the aid of theDark Heaven Insect Queen or perished in the attempt.

Hostility flashed from the eyes of the insect queen. The memory of how it suffered in the hands ofRocky just minutes earlier was still fresh in its mind.

The Dark Heaven Insect Queen's scorpion tail pointed towards Rocky and rushed at him withunearthly speed!
