Chapter 286 The Special Friendship

"Aaargh!!" Marin shouted in horror. In an instant, a full blast of water flew directly at her.

The sight of Marin's drenched figure made Rocky laugh loudly. “Ho-ho! How dare you laugh at me. Iwill show you how powerful I am!" Rocky thought to himself as he mockingly pretended to be Marinscolding him.

Marin was shocked and amazed at the same time that Verdanim allowed Rocky to fly it and noweven obeyed Rocky's instructions. She felt extreme admiration for Rocky because of these thingsthat he was able to do. Things that were supposed to be impossible. But no matter how much Marinadmired what Rocky could do, she knew that Rocky should get wet as well.

"Verdanim, Rocky wants to take a shower. Help him,” Marin ordered.

Verdanim immediately sucked in a mouthful of water from the sink and pointed its water-filledmouth at Rocky.

Rocky immediately held up his arms and shook his hands left and right. "Stop, Verdanim! If youspray water on me, I will not give you delicious snack anymore."

Verdanim raised its head immediately upon hearing Rocky's words.

"Hey! I'm your master. Why do you listen to him?" Marin complained. She was both surprised andamazed that Verdanim was now hesitating to obey her orders. She then turned to Rocky, "Did yougive it something bad?"

"Of course not. All I gave it was tasty, yummy food. Verdanim, if you agree with me, spray yourmaster once more," Rocky said grinning. In fact, to speed up Verdanim's recovery, he often fed itfood mixed with magical saliva.

"Verdanim, if you do that again, I will no longer speak with you," Marin exclaimed while placing herhands on her hips to make herself look more serious.

Verdanim was caught in a dilemma that it could not resolve on its own. Was it supposed to followMarin or Rocky? Verdanim then decided to release the water into the ceiling that was elevated a fewmeters above ground by a thick, circular, wooden post. However, the strong force of the waterreleased by Verdanim caused the ceiling to collapse. Some of the heavy planks fell towards Marin."Watch out!" Rocky shouted as he reflexively rushed towards Marin. Rocky dove at the last minuteand caught Marin in a tight body hug as he pushed her out of the way of the falling debris. They fellto the ground with Rocky still hugging Marin tightly close.

Marin was completely shocked by Rocky's sudden action that she found herself completelypowerless to do anything.

Frightened of the trouble that it caused, Verdanim swung its powerful wings to clear the fallingplanks. A few powerful flaps of its wings later and the planks were thrown safely away and fell to theground meters away from them.

Rocky and Marin stared at each other's eyes while still caught in a tight embrace. They felt thedetailed contour of each other's bodies pressed tightly against each other.

"Are you OK?" Rocky asked slowly in a gentle voice directly into Marin's ear. Each note of Rocky'svoice felt like they struck each of Marin's heartstrings and gently pulled it and it made the sweetestmelody that Marin had ever heard but only she could hear.

"I... I'm OK..." Marin replied blushing. She felt embarrassed like a child who got caught stealingcandy from the store.

"You're very beautiful. The man who will marry you will definitely have a happy life!"

Rocky said in an admiring voice. Marin did nothing but lower her head. She would normally getflustered and get mad at a comment like that from Rocky. She would've slapped Rocky, called him arascal and then walked away. But this time was different. She did not have the strength to act as shenormally would. She felt different after hearing Rocky's words.

"I don't plan to get married!" Marin said as she got up and then turned her back to Rocky.

"What?! Why? Was it something I said?" Rocky said immediately. He suspected that Marin's wordshad something to do with what he said.

"It's none of your business! Not everything is about you!" Marin shouted in an inexplicable burst ofanger. She momentarily glanced back and slightly upward as she wanted to see Rocky's expressiveeyes once more. But she did not realize that Rocky now stood right behind her. And since Marin wasbarely four to six centimeters shorter than Rocky; when she glanced back at Rocky's eyes, her upperlips touched Rocky's lower lips as their noses brushed each other.

They were both completely stunned. Their wide open eyes stared directly at each other but wasunable to move at all. Their lips were still in contact with each other!

Verdanim became very excited with the turn of events that it sucked in a mouthful of water andsprayed it into the air. This created a brief torrent of rain that fell down on Marin and Rocky. ButMarin and Rocky were still locked into each other's eyes and were still unable to make a single moveas water dripped from their very wet clothes. Neither one spoke a single word

They slowly came to their senses as water from the air continued pouring down on them. Theystepped away from each other slowly and glanced at each other as peals of laughter broke outbetween them.

"You crazy dragon. What will I do if your master asks me to..well...you know..." Rocky said trying toglare at Verdanim as he unsuccessfully suppressed a smile. He imagined that this would be the startof his troubles.

The next few days were peaceful for Rocky because he did not see Marin.

But he knew that a day of reckoning was close at hand. So when Rocky walked towards the gate ofthe northeast military camp early one morning, two guards waited for him there and informed himthat Commander Marin required his presence.

"I think the day of reckoning has arrived,” Rocky whimpered to himself just before he entered thecommander's quarters. He knew that there was no evading Marin now so he decided to facewhatever waited for him inside the quarters. He knew that he would be placed in an awkwardsituation if Marin asked him to marry her. After all, Rocky always had a special place for Lena in hisheart.
