Chapter 307 A New Chase

Isis could remember a time when Sheridan told her that she was the most qualified talent. It was asource of pride for her as well. But now, all he could talk about was how talented Rocky was. Isisheard Sheridan praise Rocky for his intelligence and aptitude. It made her feel uneasy, and shewanted to ask him who he thought was better, Rocky or her. Unfortunately, a part of her was afraidthat if she did, she might not get the answer that she wanted at all.

"Isis?" She turned towards the voice and saw Marin approaching.

"Here you are!" Isis looked at Marin, smiling warmly.

"You weren't with the Commander in Chief, so I thought you might be here,” Marin said, smilingback at her.

"I just want to see for myself if Rocky is as good as Sheridan said!" Isis told her quietly, voice as softas the gentle flow of water in a deep pond.

"Oh? Could you be jealous of Rocky?" Marin said teasingly. It was the first time she had seen Isis likethis. She had been close to Isis for a long time, and being her cousin, she could say that she knewher very well. It was the first time she seemed affected by something and not her stoic self.

"Why would I be jealous of him? No way!" Isis exclaimed vehemently as if it was the worst thing shehad ever heard.

"We all know that Sheridan has a strange preferences. He used to praise you a lot but now he thinksvery highly of Rocky. So, you must feel you're being compared.” Marin smiled knowingly at her. Sheseemed delighted when Isis could not meet her eyes and instead looked away from her.

"You think so?" Isis would never admit to it but that was exactly what she was feeling. Her father,who never praised others, spoke highly of Rocky. Rocky must have something extremely special toget all these special treatment. Something she didn't have.

"There will always be someone out there who is better than us. It seems, my dear cousin, that youhave finally met your match. And that is Rocky!" Marin looked smug and amused as she waited forher cousin's response. She thought Rocky was good but she didn't expect that he would causesomething this interesting. She should thank him some day.

"That's impossible. He could be no match for me!” Isis said in an arrogant voice. She seemedannoyed that Marin would even suggest something like that.

Instead of answering, Marin just smiled at her silently. She turned back to where Rocky was, butfound that he had left while they were busy talking.

After a while, the two beautiful figures on the roof faded into the darkness.

Meanwhile, Rocky had reached the lake located at the south of the base camp. As he lookedaround, he found there were a lot of buildings and pavilions around the lake. It would take a lot oftime to replace the red spiritual crystal.

Almost at the same time, three spirit-manipulating Deputy Commanders appeared nearby the laketoo.

"Depths of a foggy place... What could it mean?" Rocky talked to himself as he surveyed the scenearound him.

On the other hand, the three Deputy Commanders had sent out their beasts to search the areaaround the lake.

Rocky decided not to let Uriah join the search. Instead, he looked around and focused oninterpreting the meaning of "in the depths of a foggy place near water". Lance had said that the onewho decoded the meaning of the words would know the exact location of red spiritual crystal.

All of a sudden, a spirit-manipulated beast roared. Soon, two others roared in succession. Rocky ranto investigate and found that three spirit-manipulated beasts were nearby. They were snarling andpacing around a building like they had found something.

In response to the roars and snarl, three figures gathered around the building. They stayed wary ofeach other even as they entered into the building to investigate.

"Uriah?" Rocky suddenly noticed the lack of Uriah's presence.

Rocky frowned and went to look for Uriah immediately. He had no idea where to start looking buthe knew he had to replace Uriah fast.

After a while, the three manipulators who went into the building, walked out dejectedly. Theyseemed to have found nothing and started to search again in different directions.

As soon as the three manipulators left, Rocky heard the Uriah roar. He immediately investigated anddiscovered Uriah at a shabby hovel near that building.

Rocky walked into the hovel along with Uriah. He stopped on his tracks when he realized that thehovel was full of mist.

"In the depths of a foggy place? Could this be the place?” Rocky's gaze flickered around beforenarrowing as he seemed to have come into a conclusion.

The thick mist enveloped the room and him. He tried to observe his surroundings but it wasimpossible with the thickness of the mist.

"Could you replace where it is?" Rocky asked Uriah

The beast grunted and moved away. It walked towards where the mist was thickest and motionedfor him to follow.

Rocky followed it hurriedly. He needed to make sure not to lose sight of Uriah in the thick mist. Hewalked while holding onto the wall and knocked several times. It seemed most of it were emptywalls but abruptly stopped. There seemed to be a narrow gap between two walls. Without anyhesitance, he stepped into the narrow space and found himself inside a hidden room.

"No wonder they couldn't replace the red spiritual crystal. It seemed they didn't replace the hidden roombetween the two walls,” Rocky said to himself with a relieved smile. He thought his Uriah was betterand could easily see through the trick, enough to help him out.

Uriah followed him into the hidden room. It drifted about the room then came up to him with ashiny red spiritual crystal in its mouth. He could not help the gleeful sound that escaped his mouthwhen he realized it was one of the two red spiritual crystals.

"Good job, Uriah!" Rocky said happily. He reached out and patted Uriah's head in appreciation.Uriah roared twice in return, and it seemed that it was quite happy too.

Rocky cut off their celebration since the mission was not finished yet. He had only found the redspiritual crystal. He still needed to bring it to the martial pitch. Without wasting any more time,Rocky left the hovel immediately with Uriah.

Spectators who followed him were gathered around the lake. They noticed Uriah came out with ared spiritual crystal in its mouth and began to excitedly talk with one another.

"What a great spirit-manipulated beast that is!" Isis exclaimed. She had been observing as wellamong the crowd. She noticed that not one of those three beasts found the red spiritual crystal, butUriah did.

Marin nodded in agreement. Uriah had exhibited its astonishing talent as a spirit-manipulated beastand its unique abilities. Many spectators considered it as a spiritual beast. Since spiritual beasts wererare, some conjectured that maybe Uriah was a variable spirit-manipulated beast.

When Rocky saw the crowd, a bad feeling suddenly overcame him. His brows furrowed and staredwarily around them as he looked for the threat that he could feel in his guts. Just as he feared, thethree Deputy Commanders came back along with their beasts and laid greedy eyes on the redspiritual crystal in Uriah's mouth.

All of spirit-manipulated beasts of those three Deputy Commanders were at the second grade ofthree stars. Not one of them could defeat Uriah. However, if they worked together against Uriah,things would be different. If other manipulators went here, Uriah would be outnumbered andoverwhelmed. They would have little chance of winning despite how powerful Uriah was.

Rocky subtly motioned to Uriah and they turned swiftly away to the opposite side. They flew off withthe red spiritual crystal before anybody could move.

The three Deputy Commanders looked at each other as if they had not expected him to run away.Their eyes met each other and moved as one, chasing Rocky along with their beasts. They knew thatnone of them could win over Rocky, thus they had no choice but to form an alliance. Curious andeager to know what would happen, the spectators followed after them.

And thus, a fierce chase had started...
