Chapter 317 Initial Contact

"OK buddies, let's do this! If we win, I will buy all of you drink and food tonight,” Rocky said as hetried to improve morale.

Thirty highly-motivated spirit manipulators launched a fierce attack on Dunn's group under thecommand of Rocky.

Without any signs of weaknesses, Dunn deployed impressive defense tactics against the attack.Then came the intense battles between the offensive and defensive sides.

"The first squad covers the second one. The second squad lures the enemy deep from the front. Thethird squad breaks through the sides and cracks them down..." Rocky directed his team calmly. Withirresistible force, Rocky's team finally broke through Dunn's defensive line.

Dunn decided that the fighting was unfavorable, so he called for a retreat to buy his troops sometime.

It was not long before Dunn realized that his field was a dead end road. His initial purpose ofselecting the location was to limit Rocky's options. To his surprise, he was the one trapped insteadof Rocky.

After that encounter, only a few spirit manipulators were left around Dunn. On the other hand, therewere more than ten people left with Rocky.

"Damn it!" Dunn couldn't believe that he ended up so miserably compared to Rocky.

"Your weakness is arrogance. It is true that you have a good position and an airtight defense. Butyou are too impatient. The only thing that you care about is winning! You started with a biggerchance to win than me. If you only defended until the last possible moment it would be me whowould be on the losing end and not you." Rocky stared at Dunn and revealed his power. It wascompletely different than when he was intoxicated.

"So you want me to give up and admit total defeat. That will never happen! You only have one hournow. I don't think you could beat me and take my flag,” Dunn said with confidence.

"We wouldn't know unless we try!" Rocky waved his hand and his spirit manipulators behind himrushed into Dunn's position immediately. Seeing the incoming attackers, Dunn gave out the order,"Defend the flag!" Dunn, his spirit-manipulated beast and a few spirit manipulators all scrambled todefend their flag.

Dunn showed no trace of fear even in a weakened state.

At length, some of Rocky's spirit manipulators lost their capability to fight. On the other hand, onlyDunn and his spirit-manipulated beast remained to defend their flag.

"All of you, go and rest!" Rocky said to his spirit manipulators.

The spirit manipulators looked at each other and then they went off to rest.

"Only the two of us are going to battle it out in the end!" Dunn said as he looked at Rocky.

"You have consumed a lot of spiritual power. We are now at the same level. I don't want to fight youwith the help of others,” Rocky said and shrugged his shoulders. Rocky had anticipated thissituation. Thus, he kept Dunn's fighting capability impaired.

"You are so naive!" Dunn sneered at Rocky while his spirit-manipulated beast walked forward a fewsteps and stared at Rocky with a sinister look.

Uriah leaped between Rocky and Dunn's spirit-manipulated beast. Uriah was then almost face toface with Dunn's beast.

Dunn's spirit-manipulated beast was a second grade of three star Sirius Bear with a height of half aman. It was armed with iron claws that could break stone in addition to its powerful physique. Itlooked larger than Uriah.

The Sirius Bear growled with a grimace. It looked as if it was suffering from an injury.

Soon afterwards, Rocky saw the skin of the Sirius Bear burst open like it was shedding it. Soonafterwards, the Sirius Bear stood up and arched its back. It spread its front limb claws like multipleknives that pointed upwards. It improved itself from a second grade of three stars to the third gradeof three stars,

"It improved and evolved into a Razor-claw Wolf Bear?" Rocky was shocked that Dunn's beast hadthe ability to evolve into the third grade of three stars. Although Rocky planned the situation verywell, he did not expect this

Uriah was close to third grade of three stars, but it didn't reach the third grade. Unlike thedifferences in power between spirit manipulators, one grade gap between spirit-manipulated beastsrepresented a big difference.

After evolution, the spirit-manipulated beast's body mutated. For example, Sirius Bear's iron clawsturned into steel claws after evolution.

"I have prepared for this contest for a long time. And I am determined to win! So that the peoplewho looked down upon me would understand I could go higher than them!" Dunn exclaimed as hestared at Rocky with red eyes.

"I will not show you any mercy! Make sure you understand that well!" Dunn's pupils constricted withviolence and malice. Razor-claw Wolf Bear roared loudly and charged at Uriah slashing from everydirection with its steel claws.

Uriah dodged the claws as it sought out an opening for a counterattack. After the upgrade, Razor-claw Wolf Bear's speed also improved greatly. Uriah's injury during the match in the morning madeit slower than its normal speed.

With Uriah's current status, it had no advantages over the Bear.

"Now let's see who is better!” Dunn's left foot dug deep into the ground as he dashed toward Rockylike a bullet that had found its target. In a second, he was right in front of Rocky. He attacked Rockyby throwing a fist that was encased with spiritual power at Rocky's face.

Rocky focused and stepped back before Dunn's attack had reached him. The attack passed his facebut missed. Rocky suddenly felt a stinging pain on the right side of his face. Rocky touched the partof his face that was painful and was surprised to see blood on his hand.

Rocky suspected something and immediately turned to Dunn's fist. Dunn's spiritual power coveredthe fist with a dense layer that looked like tiny blades.

Before Rocky could fully recover, another attack with Dunn's fist came at him. The second attacknow went for his chest. Dunn's attack approached Rocky with amazing speed. A ripping sound filledRocky's ears as his clothes were slashed apart. His skin broke and his chest bled.

Rocky was immediately forced to go on the defensive and kept away from Dunn. Rocky was nowaware of their difference in spiritual power level.
