Chapter 424 Extremely Surprised

"I didn't guess that the well-known Rocky Bai, who has beaten the Timber Deity Empire badly twice,is in actual fact as young as a sucking baby," a bald man, who was the probable leader of a group ofspirit manipulators that Rocky didn't have the slightest idea, uttered in a contemptuous tone aftertaking a glimpse at Rocky. He was Sheehan, the deputy head of the Elite Regiment.

Rocky turned his squinting eyes to look at Sheehan. Then raising his eyebrows, he sneered, "It couldbe that I am young, but I have grown more hair than some people.”

Perceiving the contemptuous remark, some people in the tent could not help but have a shriek oflaughter.

"Son of a bitch! Do you want to perish?" Sheehan shouted on top of his voice boiling with anger,glaring at Rocky with his sharp eyes. Of course, he could not bear being made to eat a humble pie,especially by a very young person in this way. In the Elite Regiment, he was merely second to oneperson—the head of the regiment. And in the Crimson Dragon Group, he was simply constrained toadhere to the orders of one person—Lance. Therefore, he was extremely self-conceited. He hadn'thad in the prospect that Rocky would pluck up the courage to refute him defiantly.

Rocky curled his lips as if he didn't see or give a tinker's curse about the indignation on Sheehan'sface, which made the latter's hackles rise even more. As Sheehan clenched his two fists, afrightening to death sound was created from his joints.

Everybody else at present could not help but be in a blue funk about Rocky. They were familiar thatSheehan was one of the five strongest spirit manipulators in the Crimson Dragon Group. His vitalitywas about on a par with Isis’. Now that Rocky sent Sheehan into a rage, he was bringing about hisown destruction in the eyes of the spectators.

"Deputy Head Sheehan, please conduct yourself well!" Isis exclaimed in a distinguished voice as theDeputy Commander in Chief when she discovered that Sheehan was rubbed up the wrong way byRocky. She was conscious that Rocky would be the one to be beaten once the two resorted toviolence. For the time being, the Crimson Dragon Army was in dire need of Rocky's talent. If Rockywas injured or perished, it would be a significant loss for the Crimson Dragon Army. That was whyshe stalked forward to keep Rocky from harm

Sheehan was quite taken aback to peer Isis stand by Rocky. He knew unquestionably that he couldnot be an offense to Isis since she was Lance's daughter. Therefore, he simply grunted and releasedhis fists. However, his gloomy eyes were still fixed on Rocky.

Lance took a glance at Sheehan, but he didn't utter anything. Then he gave Rocky an order. "RockyBai, I at this moment appoint you as an Elite Commander of the Crimson Dragon Army. You'recommanding ten thousand troops from now henceforth.”

Lance's order caught everybody present off guard. In a split second, all the people present burstinto a turmoil.

"Commander in Chief..." All the Commanders present fixated their eyes on Lance with their wide-eyed eyes. They had no slightest inkling why he appointed Rocky as an Elite Commander.

All the members of the Elite Regiment, including Sheehan, were hit like a ton of bricks. They hadn'timagined that Lance would nominate such a young man as an Elite Commander. Undeniably it wasan unprecedented appointment.

In typical cases, a Frontline Commander had to work for at least five years at the present positionbefore he or she became an Elite Commander. Besides, he or she had to possess the strength at theHeavenly Stage already. Nobody could be appointed as an Elite Commander unless the tworequirements were both met.

Certainly, nobody present, except Lance, Isis and Rocky himself, was apprehensive that Rocky hadalready been given the title of the Crimson Dragon General of the Crimson Dragon Group. Beingtreated fairly to the Deputy Commander in Chief, he even possessed a Crimson Dragon Token.Judging from this perspective, he was much more competent to be an Elite Commander.

Anyway, however, the Crimson Dragon General was nothing but an under wraps post without actualpower. In comparison, the Elite Commander was a position with real power and was acknowledgedby Lance in public. The two could not be compared simply.

"Commander in Chief, why did you out of the blue appoint me as an Elite Commander? Have youforgotten that I suggested I would not work as whichever kind of Commander,” Rocky inquiredwhile gawking at Lance with his perplexed eyes.

"Because it's too urgent now. The troops of the Timber Deity Empire have occupied our threestrategic strongholds—the Hippo Land, the Deity Unicorn Valley, and the Dead Silence Mount. Theycut off our logistic supply line and weaken the coordination between different units of our military.Therefore, I request you to command the troops. You're going to take all the three strategicstrongholds back regardless of the cost," Lance explained concisely.

"There are so many Commanders here. Every one of them is more competent and more experiencedthan I am. You can order any one of them to command the troops. I presume they will do better.Why did you choose me?" Rocky asked, looking sullen.

"The man without hair looks quite proficient. Why don't you inform him to command the troops?"Rocky added on purpose after taking a peer at Sheehan with his peripheral sight.

In a split second, Sheehan gave him a frigid glare. Anybody who had the audacity to talk about himin this way would have been beaten to death by him if it was on another occasion.

"Don't be so discourteous! That is Sheehan, the deputy head of the Elite Regiment. The EliteRegiment is a special unit that simply carries out critical tasks. They don't give orders to ordinarytroops. Besides, Deputy Head Sheehan has some other essential task to handle with," Lanceanswered in a brisk voice.

"The Elite Regiment? I didn't have any concept they are the so-called Elite Regiment,” Rocky uttered,taking a peer at Sheehan and the spirit manipulators behind him, who were all at the HeavenlyStage.

"For the time being, none of the Commanders is free from doubt to take all the three strategicstrongholds back. So now I can only place my reliance on you. Never forget that you gave yourword to me!" Lance added, fixing his bright piercing eyes on Rocky.

"Can this teenager take the three strategic strongholds back? Are you fooling around, sir? Isn't thereany competent man in our Crimson Dragon Army? Commanders, how could you peer with yourown eyes such a good for nothing grind the faces of all of you?" Sheehan exclaimed with adisparaging smile after taking a disdainful glance at Rocky and glancing around the otherCommanders at present.

Hearing that, all the Commanders peered at one another bereft of speech. They were not wellpleased with Lance's decision, because none of them had the notion that they were inferior toRocky, specifically the Frontline Commanders. However, all of them had to acknowledge that Lancewas right in saying that none of them was free from doubt they could take all the three strategicstrongholds back.

Indeed, they didn't think Rocky could take the three strategic strongholds back either, even if hegave his confirmation to accept the post of Elite Commander. That was because the prevailingsituation was different from Rocky's previous victories. The troops of the Timber Deity Empire weresafeguarding all the three strategic strongholds so perfectly that no weakness could bemanipulated. That was why they had failed to take Hippo Land back despite besieging it for threetimes.

Therefore, most of the Commanders had a sneaking suspicion that Rocky would fail to take thethree strategic strongholds back and would shatter the illusions of Lance in the end. They felt betterat the notion.

"If I can take the three strategic strongholds back, you will address me as grandpa. Deal?" Rockysaid to Sheehan, countering his aggravation without the least humming and hawing. An eye for aneye, a tooth for a tooth, he would not turn a blind eye to it.

"If you can't take them back, I will break one hand and one foot of yours. Deal?" Sheehanresponded. His eyes were filled with a paroxysm of rage.

Hearing that, everybody else present lost their composure in a split second. They all were of theconcept that Sheehan was extremely mischievous. Otherwise, he would not have made such apetition.

"Deputy Head Sheehan, you're too..." Isis could not resist the temptation to steer clear of theimpulse to go at hammer and tongs with Sheehan. She thought that he was just taking advantageof his power to bully Rocky.

However, before Isis could finish uttering her sentence, Rocky burst into laughter, interrupting her,and said to Sheehan while looking at him with a pair of cold eyes, "Okay. You can wait to call megrandpa!” Then he swung his eyes to have a glance at Lance and said to him, "Commander in Chief,can I select two Commanders to accompany me when I command the troops?”

"Of course you can gladly,” Lance responded with a swift acknowledgment as promptly as Rockyagreed to his appointment. He would not care if Rocky took away all of the Frontline Commandersas long as he could successfully take back all of the three strategic strongholds.

"Is Commander Dunn in the camp now?" Rocky sought as quickly as he failed to locate Dunn Diamong the Frontline Commanders.

"Commander Dunn is at Arno River, following Commander Ron," Isis responded.

"Transfer him back to tag along with me. And the other Commander I require is Commander Marin,"Rocky announced, setting his peaceful sight on Marin.

In contrast, Marin looked somewhat disconcerted, as if she hadn't predicted that Rocky would pickher.
