Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 469 Physical Cultivation
Rocky approached the Four-wing Lame Dragon with his hands outstretched in the shape of a Tiger'steeth. The Four-wing Lame Dragon had three heads that allowed it to be on a wider lookout. Rockyreached out to aim at one of its heads. The Four-wing Lame Dragon was conditioned to attack itspredators. And, surprised at Rocky's attack, it automatically assumed offense. It let out a loud grow!at Rocky and prepared to swallow Rocky alive. Once it had gathered its momentum, its wingsflapped strongly enough for the dusts and leaves to dance around it.
The strong winds attacked Rocky's face, the dust and fallen leaves blinding his eyes. Still, he forcedagainst the winds and lurched forward to attack the Four-wing Lame Dragon. He knew better thanto retreat. When the Four-wing Lame Dragon approached, Rocky quickly held down one of its shortnecks, and, in one quick but sharp movement, pulled the whole body of the dragon up.
The Four-wing Lame Dragon did not expect such strength to come from a little human. It stoodawestruck until Rocky let out a loud shout and enabled a strong spiritual power. Instantly, the airRocky touched turned into black smoke, then Rocky threw the dragon with full force.
The giant body of the Four-wing Lame Dragon flew in the air before it hit the ground with one loudthump. Dusts filled the air and slight vibrations could be felt from the ground because of sheerforce. Slowly, it slid off the ground and clouds of dust formed above it, disrupting the birds quietlynested in the trees.
The Four-wing Lame Dragon let out a long enduring wail as if it was crying out for help.
Rocky stared at his achievement, obviously proud about his improved strength. Half a month agoRocky could only take on a third grade spirit-manipulated beast at four-star level. Now, he foundhimself winning against a fourth grade spirit-manipulated beast at the four-star level. He knew thatthis was not something any other spirit manipulator, even at the Heavenly Stage, could do.
Rocky knew that his improvement was because of the rigorous training he had put himself throughin the past half month. However, he also knew that a major factor to his new found strength was themagical saliva that was able to really tap into his potential. His body training only added to hisgrowth.
Even before he began his training, he already felt changed by the magical saliva. He was aware thathe was much better than other spirit manipulators, including the royal ones. After the training, hefelt like he was able to tap into his body's full potential.
At first, Rocky was confused as to why he did not feel completely changed by the magical saliva atthe beginning. Then he realized that it must have been because he was complacent. He relied onthe various rare treasures that he was able to acquire and completely neglected his physicaltraining. As a result, his body could not catch up with and contain his quickly growing strength, completely hindering his full growth.
After reaching the Heavenly Stage, he felt stuck. It seemed as if he hit a wall that did not allow himto improve any further. It was only then when it really dawned on him that there was somethinglacking in his training. When he decided to train his body as well, he realized that training only oneaspect was incomplete. This was what went wrong in the earlier stages of his training - he onlycared about his spiritual power and completely neglected his bodily strength. It was a good thingthat he realized this early enough for him to no longer suffer any more losses in battle.
Rocky recalled his earlier encounter with the master at the fourth grade of the Heavenly Stage inHippo Land. He realized that perhaps the reason why he struggled so hard during that battle, despite his spiritual power that surpassed the second grade of the Heavenly Stage, was because ofhis limited physical strength. Since this realization, Rocky was motivated to train both his body andspiritual power. He organized a plan that would cultivate himself holistically. He was determined notto let his own limitations constrain him in the future.
For spirit manipulators of the Heavenly Stage, reaching their ceiling meant a lot. If they foundthemselves unable to break into the next level, they would have to stay in that stage for a long timeuntil they overcame their weakness.
Each spirit manipulator had unique reasons as to why they would hit their ceiling. For some, theycould not reach a breakthrough simply because they were not gifted enough. For others, they werehindered by negativity and their own psychological barriers. Some, on the other hand, were simplynot strong enough. Entering a new stage required focus and effort - without which, one may simplyget stuck in one stage throughout a lifetime.
Rocky's biggest barrier was his lack of physical strength.
Normally, spirit manipulators needed ten years before they could reach the Heavenly Stage from theMortal Stage. Even the greatest royal spirit manipulators needed seven or eight years. Thecultivation period was so long that spirit manipulators encountered plenty of difficulties andopponents that allowed them to practice, battle, and exercise their bodily and spiritual strengths. However, Rocky's case was nowhere near normal. His cultivation progressed rapidly. He dealt withproblems in an efficient and effective manner that allowed his quick growth. During his youngeryears as a soldier to the Gehenna Border, he was just at the first grade of the Earthly Stage. Now, inless than two years, he was already in the Heavenly Stage - showing a cultivation period muchshorter than others’. Although Rocky did well in cultivation, it still seemed as if his lessons learnedwould just pass by without fully digesting it for his further development. He constantly improvedspiritually, but his body remained not much better than ordinary spirit manipulators in the HeavenlyStage.
There was another reason for Rocky's quick cultivation - the Holy Dragon Bead had strictrequirements for the heir. It required the heir to be gifted both in talent and body and should makethemselves better than any other royal spirit manipulator. However, to be outstanding in all aspectswas just one part of its requirements. The heir should be persistent in cultivation, determined inovercoming difficulties, able to deal with mental barriers.
Rocky was not just talented, he also showed astonishing growth of his spiritual power. He neededthese skills to be qualified to be a successor. His only weakness was his physical strength. This wasalso why he could not break through to the second grade of the Heavenly Stage even if his spiritualpower was already at the third grade of the Heavenly Stage
All he needed to do was to strengthen his body in order to overcome his ceiling and be able tomake breakthrough.
He noticed a slight glow of spiritual light and aura emitting from him. He was hopeful that he wasonly a step away from breaking through his ceiling and finally reaching the second grade of theHeavenly Stage.
Spiritual light and aura signified that a spirit manipulator was improving in their strength. The rangeof the light grew as the spirit manipulator's strength grew. An outsider could sense a spiritmanipulator's strength according to his aura. However, a spirit manipulator could only judge hisown strength level based on the spiritual light emitting from his body.
Rocky had been noticing his spiritual light slowly changing in the recent days. He could also feel hisimprovement and could sense that he was so close to breaking through his ceiling. He was hopefuland positive, but unsure if he was indeed breaking into a higher level.
After what felt like a while, the Four-wing Lame Dragon's body started to stir. It turned over, slowlyrose, and then bared its teeth at Rocky. Rocky could see the anger in its eyes. It was obviouslyunhappy with what Rocky did and was now preparing for revenge.
The dragon was getting ready to tear Rocky into pieces. Everyone knew that if a spirit-manipulatedbeast got angry, it could become even more violent. The best choice for a spirit manipulator in thissituation would be to flee instead of fight. It was wisest to avoid its attack.
However, Rocky stood still ready to fight. His stance suggested arrogance, as if he was not fazed bythe dragon's anger at all. It seemed as if fighting with the Four-wing Lame Dragon was a small featfor Rocky, a toy that Rocky played with. And should an owner be afraid of a toy? Rocky knew better. The Four-wing Lame Dragon became even more irritated by Rocky's stance. With a new foundmotivation and hunger for vengeance, the Four-wing Lame Dragon shrieked. Suddenly, dozens ofsharp silver threads appeared across the dragon's body, interlaced with each other, and rushedtowards Rocky in full force.
