"A fake marriage? What do you mean?” Isis exclaimed. She was stunned. How could Rocky proposesuch a thing?

"We will get married, but it'll be fake. You will be my wife, and I your husband, but on paper only. Inactuality, there won't be a relationship between us. We will still live our lives separately,” Rockyexplained calmly.

"Will it actually work? Doesn't marriage oblige the new couple to worship heaven and earth?Marriage is not a flippant thing. How can it be a sham?" Isis’ jaw dropped in shock at the idea. Afterall, she did follow some conservative ideas. Rocky, on the other hand, was familiar with the idea ofarranged marriages, only for the couples to secretly live separately.

"If you don't mind worshiping heaven and earth with me, it's ok." Rocky winked. "As for the weddingnight, nobody actually knows what goes on in the room. You mentioned you don't even want to getmarried anyway, but you are responsible for your father. So, I propose that we pretend to getmarried, and your father will be able to rest easy. You can continue to live your life separate frommine, until you replace someone you truly love," Rocky finished with a flourish, his eyes twinkling.

"It sounds reasonable.” Isis nodded in agreement. Even though she thought Rocky's proposal wasextremely bold, it seemed to make sense to her, and could solve the current bind they were in.

"But you have to tell me first: why did you suddenly agree to marry me? My father said that youwanted to get the Crimson Dragon Group's support. Is that true?" Even with slight hesitation, Isisknew she needed to know the truth.

"The older, the wiser!" Rocky said with a smile. He thought he'd hidden it well, but of course, Lancehad seen through it.

"Yes, it's true. I do need the Crimson Dragon Group's forces to help me do something. Of course, I'dalso be of great help for the army..." He trailed off in thought. He decided he needed to be honestwith Isis. And as long as he had the support from the Crimson Dragon Group, he could cultivatemore forces. And when the time came, he would return to the Imperial City to kill Alston for sweetrevenge.

But for now, Rocky knew he needed to keep a low profile, until he found a chance.

As these thoughts ran through his mind, Rocky's expression grew serious. He clenched his fist,hatred burning in his eyes.

Isis noticed his change in disposition, sensing the intense emotions emanating from Rocky. Shesuddenly felt she didn't know him, as though the man who stood before her was carrying theweight of the world on his shoulders.

"Can you tell me what you really plan to do?" Isis’ brows furrowed in worry. She had an inkling thatwhatever Rocky wished to do with the forces of the Crimson Dragon Group, it was no small thing.What if, in agreeing to this sham marriage, she inadvertently ended up hurting him?

"I can't tell you now. But when the time is right, you will be the first to know. Is that okay with you?"Rocky asked. He couldn't tell her anything about his identity and everything he experienced, for fearthat she wouldn't agree to his proposal.

"Are you asking if I am okay with this sham marriage?" Isis asked. What with Rocky's ultimatum, sheknew that her decision was tantamount to him achieving his goal.

"Even though I could really use your help, I don't want to force you. I mean, this is a fake marriagewe're talking about. That entails sacrificing happiness for some time, maybe even a long time.Although we wouldn't be truly married, on paper, you'd still be my wife. So, you should think aboutit carefully. To put it bluntly, I am using you..." Rocky said calmly.

"There's no need to think about it," Isis replied, locking eyes with Rocky.

Rocky nodded, returning her gaze. Knowing Isis’ usual stubborn character, he didn't expect her toagree to his proposal. Now that she didn't even put up a fight, Rocky was a little bit disappointed."If this is what you want, then so be it. It's true, I had decided not to get married. However, this maybe a good move. This way, you can have your wish fulfilled and my father can rest easy. But youneed to promise me that you will help the Crimson Dragon Army no matter what. And before youdo anything, tell me first; if I don't think it's a good idea, I'll sure as hell stop you. Do youunderstand?” Isis’ gaze grew firm.

Rocky was stunned. Firstly, because he didn't think she'd agree, especially since he made it clear thathe was using her.

"Are you really willing to sacrifice your happiness for me?" Rocky asked again, hoping she'd considerit more carefully.

"As you said, our marriage is for both of our benefits. The Crimson Dragon Army needs you, so if Imarry you, it's not too bad an exchange. My father has devoted his life to the Crimson DragonArmy. However, since the war with the Timber Deity Empire, we have lost our reputation. Only whenwe defeat the Timber Deity Empire will we be able to restore our honor," Isis replied matter-of-factly.

"Really? Is there any other reason apart from that?" asked Rocky, frowning.

Isis’ cheeks turned red hot. Although she had just delivered a grandiose speech, there was indeedan ulterior reason as to why she was willing to marry him. She glanced at her feet as her heart beatuncontrollably fast.

'I'm already yours, * she thought to herself. If she could marry him, even if it was a sham marriage, atleast she'd get to be with the one she loved.

"I'll ask Sue to prepare a room for you. Rest up today and we shall meet with my father tomorrow.”Dodging Rocky's question, she instructed him her plan.

"Okay," Rocky replied meekly, dropping the subject. Although he was pleased things were goingaccording to plan, he was not happy at all.

A silence fell over them as they both were lost in their own thoughts. The strange atmosphere wasonly broken when Sue came back.
