"Well, lucky for you I don't have the heart to kill such a beautiful girl like you,” Rocky joked, givingLaney a wide smile.

"Cut the crap! Tell me the real reason! Why?!" Laney couldn't help but exclaim. She stared at himwhile adding more strength on the dagger, making Rocky's neck ooze with a river of blood.

"You want the truth? Okay, let me tell you. We have grown very close despite being enemies before.Although I will stop at nothing to achieve my goal, I'm not ruthless enough to kill a woman towhom I made love. Besides, I don't think you deserve to die. You are just Alyssa's pawn. If I kill you,someone else will still take over your post and continue to assassinate me. So, there is really nodifference whether I kill you or not, right? And to tell you honestly, I was more than excited to meetyou," Rocky informed. His eyes were intense as he stared at Laney with a grin painted on his lips."Did you already know I would come for you?" Although quite surprised, Laney understood what hemeant by that.

"Of course, I knew you would come for me, especially when I knew Alyssa sent you to the side ofBlood Lord Leo to help him deal with me. I think you wouldn't miss such a good opportunity forrevenge!” Rocky's tone was nonchalant.

"So why did you still come here alone? I'm well-prepared this time. You are closely hemmed on allsides that I doubt you could still escape even if you grew a pair of wings. The threat on the TimberDeity Empire will only be gone once I finally kill you," Laney sneered, tilting her head to get a clearerview of the expression etched on Rocky's face.

However, while staring at him, she felt a hand tightly wrapping her waist and pulling her to a firmchest. Suddenly, she felt a soft breath against her hair. Their distance was just too close, causing herto hold her breath. Her cheeks popped red like a cherry, and her legs wobbled like jelly.

"Let go of me, or I will kill you!" Laney snapped at him, trying her best to shrug off the tinglingsensation she just felt by firmly grasping onto her dagger.

"If you wanted to kill me, you would have already done it.

What have I done to deserve death? Reflect on that, and once you do, don't hesitate to replace me. I'llbe around the corner. Oh and, Laney, Blood Lord Leo is not a good guy. You should be more carefularound him." Finishing his words, Rocky waved his hand and left immediately, leaving Laney in astate of trance.

For a while, she just stood there, blankly staring at nothing while her legs remained wobbly."Ahm...Miss Laney, should we go after him and catch him?" asked a woman at the Heavenly Stage,who appeared beside Laney.

"No need," she simply uttered, shaking her head as she came back to her senses. She had neverthought to be so humiliated by Rocky right after meeting him again. What was worse, she was evendistracted by mere close contact and failed to kill him.

"He asked me to be more careful. Does this mean he cares for me?" Laney murmured to herself,trying to make sense of Rocky's last words before he departed. With furrowed brows and her righthand caressing her chin, she wondered for a while.

In the next three days, the left wing defense of the Timber Deity Empire was utterly calm. Rocky hadbeen observing the situation; however, no one in the Roaring Flame Empire army had made anymove yet. He couldn't think of a good plan to deal with them, because if the Roaring Flame Empirearmy didn't take any actions, there would be almost no flaws. The places of the Roaring FlameEmpire army were tightly guarded.

Meanwhile, on the other side, there was no good news from the Magic Dragon Army as the entirebattle was, once again, a stalemate.

Just then, an unexpected message was sent here by Lance.

"What?! Mont City, the city on the Gehenna Border, is suddenly attacked by the Holy Sea Empirearmy?" Rocky frowned as he read the message

"The Holy Sea Empire is a small country. Its boundary is on the north end of the Gehenna Border,closer to the Mont City of our Holy Dragon Empire. However, the Holy Sea Empire and the HolyDragon Empire have signed a non-aggression pact, so we have always maintained peace. But thistime, the Holy Sea Empire is taking too much advantage of the war between the Timber DeityEmpire and the Holy Dragon Empire and even attacked the Mont City..." Allen briefly discussed thesituation back in the Holy Sea Empire.
