Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master
Chapter 681 A Hidden Danger

It stunned Rocky that Lance sided with him. Apparently, Lance trusted him more than he trustedAlston. Even if Alston was the eldest prince and next in line to the throne of the reigning emperor,Lance did not have second thoughts. This was both surprising and unexpected. Given Alston'sposition as the eldest prince, Lance could have rooted for him. Doing so would earn him favor fromthe future emperor. Alston was obviously against Rocky, and his decision could put him in atroublesome situation. Nevertheless, Lance stood by Rocky.

Still, Rocky knew that Lance's decision would not change Alston's mind. Alston is ruthless anddeceitful. He would do whatever he wanted. Rocky recognized the evil look on Alston's face.Alston remained calm and smiled to the surrounding people. He fixed his eyes on Lance andaddressed him in a commanding manner. "General Lance, don't worry, I will not replaceCommander in Chief Rocky with anyone else. I have decided to go to the front line myself. I will takecharge of the Crimson Dragon Army and lead them in the battle against the Timber Deity Empire.”His words shocked the surrounding people, including Lance. It was unexpected for the eldest princeof the Holy Dragon Empire to go to the front line and command the army in person. It was too risky, and his decision was unprecedented.

Rocky saw through Alston's charade and pretension. He remained calm as Alston declared hisdecision to go to the front line. Alston would not give up on the opportunity to fight against him.He had anticipated Alston's move, and he was right. From the start, Alston had planned to deployRocky to the Mont City. It was his deepest desire to command the Crimson Dragon Army and takecredit for all its achievements. He could not let Rocky lead the Crimson Dragon Group into victory, especially one against the Timber Deity Empire. If Rocky succeeded in achieving victory against theTimber Deity Empire, he would become a legendary figure in the Holy Dragon Empire. He wouldgain endless support and power. Eventually, he could recruit followers and establish his ownpowerful army. This was unacceptable and threatened Alston.

There was no way Alston was going to allow it to happen. The situation at Mont City wasproblematic and unstable. Rocky would be at a loss on how to defend it from the invaders once hestepped in as a commander. The destruction of Mont City would ruin his reputation. His defeat inthis battle would discredit any previous victory or achievement. More than that, a defeat was a goodexcuse to kill him. Alston could kill two birds with one stone if he carried off his plans well.

Alston's evil nature is frightening. His plan took everything into consideration and it did not mattereven if Lance favored Rocky over him. It's a win-win situation for him, and all he had to do was leadthe Crimson Dragon Army into the battle. He was the eldest prince and would remain successor tothe throne even if he lost. If that happened, he only needed to walk away and leave the mess to theCrimson Dragon Army.

All this time, Lance tried to control his brewing anger. He stared at Alston with clenched fist, andeyes filled with anger. He doubted Alston's request right from the start. No one in his right mindwould demand to get the supreme command of the Crimson Dragon Army and then deploy Rockyto deal with the urgent situation in Mont City. Unless that person was up to something suspicious. For some reason, Alston's actions were not in accordance with his position.

'When he arrived, he made it clear that he was here to show his support and to help defend us fromthe Holy Sea Empire. Now he passed the responsibility to Rocky. He is also demanding to take overRocky's position and lead our army against the Timber Deity Empire. Why? What is the reasonbehind all these? Why do I feel that he is hostile towards Rocky? But they just met each othertoday.’ Questions rushed through Lance's mind, but none of them could explain Alston's series ofactions and decisions.

"General Lance, do you have a problem with my proposal?” Alston asked Lance in a sarcastic tone.Lance's decision to side with Rocky did not matter at all. Lance had no choice but to obey him.Lance came back to his senses and stared at Alston for a while. After a moment of hesitation, helooked at Rocky and ordered him. "Rocky, since His Royal Highness have so much confidence toreplace you as the Commander in Chief, we should follow his order. You will be deployed to theMont City. Do your best to save the city, that way you will lessen the problem of the CrimsonDragon Army."

"But..." Rocky hesitated. If he agreed, it meant Alston's scheme had succeeded.

"Go! That is my order!" Lance shouted. His face looked stern as he glared at Rocky to prevent himfrom saying anything else. Rocky was just a Commander in Chief of the Crimson Dragon Army whileAlston was the eldest prince of the Holy Dragon Empire. Alston came here on behalf of theemperor, and not even Lance had the authority to disobey his order. Something was going on andhe needed to protect Rocky. To go against Alston's order would only do more harm than good toRocky.

"Rocky, please listen to father,” Isis pleaded, her eyes filled with worry.

Rocky felt very disappointed, but he trusted Lance's decision on the matter. He knew it was a harddecision for Lance and he was in a precarious position. First, he did not have enough powerfulforces to wrestle with Alston. Second, his defiance could be used against him by Alston. He knewAlston too well. He was ruthless and cunning. He had to be careful and could not act on impulse.Rocky knew he had to prepare. The deployment was just the beginning. And now, he needed toconvince Alston that his plan was working.

Alston stared at Rocky with an evil look on his face. He knew Rocky had no choice but to go to theMont City. He thought, “Boy, how dare you fight against me! You'd better give up now, before it'stoo late! This is just the beginning. Soon, I will make you beg for death!"

Rocky glanced at Alston then nodded towards Lance. Without a word, he turned around and walkedaway from the tent.

"Rocky!" Terror-stricken, Isis bowed to Alston and then turned around to chase after Rocky.

The tense atmosphere in the tent had now disappeared.

"Much as I respect the decision of Your Royal Highness, I have to remind you that victory is the onlyacceptable result of your battle with the Timber Deity Empire!" Lance said to Alston and left.

The Elite Commanders followed and left the tent. Before long, only Alston remained in the tent.
