Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master
Chapter 685 Escape From The Mont City

"It's good that you know that. But I will not be angry with you,” said Isis. If this happened in the past,Isis would have ignored Rocky completely. She was not the soft-spoken type and would neversubmit to a man. Especially to someone who had treated her wrongly. With Rocky, she was adifferent woman. She was softhearted, vulnerable and understanding. She was a fighter in thebattlefield. As the Deputy Commander in Chief of the Crimson Dragon Army, she was admired bysoldiers for being aggressive, determined, and for being a compassionate leader.

"Thank you for understanding me," Rocky said as he searched her eyes for forgiveness. Rocky smiledto her. His relationship with Isis was complicated, and this current issue had given him a headache. But her words eased his mind and erased his worries.

"But before my father returned to the headquarters, he left a message for you," Isis continued. Herface became serious when she thought of her father's words.

"What did he say?" asked Rocky.

"He asked you to be careful of His Royal Highness- Alston. He had a grim feeling that Alston mayhave planned something evil against you. He had no idea why His Royal Highness wanted to harmyou, and there was nothing much he could do to protect you. So please, stay vigilant and be onguard against him," explained Isis, as she fixed her eyes on Rocky. She herself doubted His RoyalHighness, and her father's advice validated her fear.

'I'm glad Lance recognized his false colors. To deal with me, Alston could not even hide hisdisgusting, true nature, * Rocky sneered in his heart.

"I understand.” He nodded and did not show his emotion. He did not want her to worry any further,so he chose not to say a word.

"Well, let's get ready. It's time to go to the Mont City. We just received some news saying that thesituation in the Mont City is getting worse. We must get going!" she said in a hurry.

"Us? Are you coming with me?" Rocky frowned.

"Of course! Did you think I will let you go there alone? If you will stop me from going with you, I willnever talk to you for the rest of my life!” Isis suddenly returned to her commanding nature. Shestood straight and glared at Rocky. The look in her eyes reminded him that he owed her, and shewas not taking no for an answer.

Rocky did not know whether to force a smile or reprimand her. Mont City was a dangerous place, and he did not want her involved in the battle. However, the look on her face made him realize thatshe had decided to do so. If he refused her again, she may not forgive him this time. Rocky knewthat would be difficult for him to handle.

He had no choice but to let Isis go with him.

There was also no time to argue. The Mont City was in a critical situation, and they had to get thereas soon as possible. Otherwise, the Crimson Dragon Army would be in great trouble if the Mont Cityfell. Rocky must get the first-hand information and they badly needed him at the fore front of thebattle. Before long, Rocky and Isis were both headed to the Mont City. It was the border city to thenorth of the Gehenna Border. They sat quietly at the back of Uriah, who was flying at full speed.Mont City was located in an open plain. A vast field with no complex terrain to protect it. Its openlocation made it easy for the enemies to attack the city and difficult for its army to protect anddefend it. Based on the information they received, about forty thousand soldiers from the Holy SeaEmpire surrounded Mont City on three sides. The Holy Sea Empire had launched fierce attacks onthe Mont City for three days. Less than ten thousand soldiers remained in the city, and people wholived there might lose their lives if the enemy broke through the city.

Several hours later, Rocky and Isis arrived at the Mont City. They were both horrified at the scenethat unfolded before them. The fierce battle had destroyed most part of the city. Wild, angry flamesconsumed the buildings and houses, while black smoke filled the air and covered the streets.Burned bodies were sprawled on the streets, and countless more people struggled to run andescape the hell of fire. Some people tried to help the wounded and save the injured, but the entirecity was a bottomless pit of raging fire. Some civilians were lucky enough to escape their housesand fled from the chaotic city. As Rocky and Isis looked down from the sky, they saw that three ofthe city gates had been surrounded. The only gate that was not under attack was the west gate.Countless figures raced towards the gate and moved towards different directions. Most of themwere wearing the uniform of the Crimson Dragon Army. With the city crushed to the ground, severalarmy soldiers had given up and abandoned the city. This angered Rocky to the core. They weresupposed to protect the Mont City and its people.

The two looked at each other and realized that something was wrong. They immediately instructedUriah to fly towards the west gate. As Uriah reached the wall, people looked at it for a moment thencontinued to rush out of the gate. Normally, people would linger and surround the powerful spirit-manipulated beast to admire it. But no one stopped today. The chaotic crowd continued to run outof the city.

Rocky wasted no time and jumped to the ground. Instantly, he caught a soldier trying to escape andasked him coldly, "What are you doing? Why are you running away? Why don't you protect thecity?"

Terrified of Rocky's imposing manner, the soldier answered in a weak voice, "We were ordered toretreat from the Mont City, because the Holy Sea Empire had broken through the east gate.”

"Who gave this order?” Rocky was shocked and angry. He could not believe what he just heard. Itwas too early to accept defeat, and even if the eastern part of the city was lost, it was not right forthe commander to abandon the city like this. Countless civilians remained trapped inside the city. The soldiers were supposed to protect them and should have offered them a retreat before tryingto escape.

"Prefect Liu," the soldier said nervously. He guessed that Rocky was not a civilian, so he did not darelie to him.

"Prefect Liu? What about Commander Huang?" From what Rocky knew, Commander Huang, an EliteCommander, was the one responsible for guarding the Mont City. So why were the soldiers gettingorders from a prefect?

"He's dead! He died in the battle," the soldier responded in a more respectful tone this time. Fromthe way Rocky mentioned their commander's name, he guessed that Rocky must be a high-rankingcommander himself.

The look on Rocky's face changed when he heard this. By this time, another large number of peoplepassed by him and rushed out of the city. They all looked terrified and were in a hurry to getthemselves and their family out of this hell. Among them were soldiers, frightened and lost.Unmindful of their duty to protect the civilians, they too were in a race to escape the burning city. The city remained in turmoil as people including soldiers hurried to escape. There was panic andconfusion as the crowd pushed their way out. Countless number of civilians were injured asterrifying screams filled the air.

"Where is your prefect?” Rocky's face darkened.

"He went ahead of us. He should be at the front by now,” answered the soldier as he pointed at thefront end of the crowd that was meters away from the city.

Rocky's eyes were suddenly filled with anger. He was gone in a flash. The soldier breathed a sigh ofrelief as Rocky disappeared from his sight.

At the front of the crowd, a fat, greasy man with a bulging belly sat comfortably inside a carriage. The fat man wore a silk, white robe that glittered under the sun. He was surrounded by a fewordinary spirit manipulators and some guards. He was among the first ones to have escaped andwas far away from the crowd that were trying to escape the city by this time.

"Hurry! Move faster!" the fat guy ordered his men.

"Prefect Liu, this is the fastest we can go," answered a petite man that was also inside the carriage. He was the butler of Prefect Liu.

"I did not expect that the Holy Sea Empire could break into the Mont City so soon. It did not give usenough time to gather more money and valuables,” said the prefect, as he looked at the enormoussuitcases behind him with regret. He wished he had moved faster and carried off more treasureswith him

"Prefect, it's a good thing we were able to escape. Money is not the most important thing. Your lifeis precious than any other thing in the world,” the butler blurted out in a cold sweat. He could notbelieve that the prefect was not content with all the valuable things they stole from the civilians.

At this moment, a violent force shook the carriage and made it stop suddenly. The strong impactterrified the prefect and the butler.

Soon enough, they heard a commotion outside the carriage. Curious, they checked and saw a figurerushing towards them

"What happened? Did the enemy arrived so soon?" Fear spread across Prefects Liu's face. Heordered his butler right away to check what was going on. "What are you waiting for? Go down andhave a look!"

The butler had lost the color on his face. He was too afraid to check, but could not refuse the orderfrom his master. He got off the carriage in a hurry. What he saw was not the enemy, but a strangerstood in front of the carriage. Several spirit manipulators and guards were surrounding the man.
