"Aren't you afraid that when I'll replace an opportunity to escape after you let my friends go?" Rockyasked seriously to break Woods' confidence.

"The problem is, where are you going? I have already ordered my people to spread the news thatyou have betrayed the Holy Dragon Empire to join the great Timber Deity Empire. Soon, the wholeHoly Dragon Empire will come to know you as a traitor and will never have you back!" Woods hadexpected Rocky to refuse, so he had devised an alternative way to prepare for it.

"Of course, in order to be safe, upon arriving at the Timber Deity Empire, I will have to ask mybeloved sister to seal your spiritual power. I'm sorry, but I have to do so,” Woods said honestly witha smile. He had long planned for Rocky to submit to him by hook or by crook. He never desired tohave Rocky's strength; instead, he wanted Rocky's mind power. Thus, Woods had no problem withsealing his captive's spiritual power.

"It seems that you have planned it all out,” Rocky said through gritted teeth. If Sabina and his otherfriends were not still in Woods’ hands, he would have already knocked him unconscious.

"Hey! Don't forget that I saved your life. You can call me your savior from now on. Of course, MoonFox has helped in the rescue as well," Woods said boastfully.

"Moon Fox? That strange but powerful spirit-manipulated beast?" Rocky asked. He was sober at thattime, so he remembered what happened vividly. However, he did not understand why Alyssa’sspirit-manipulated beast would go against her master's will and save him instead. In fact, it hadsaved him from danger more than once.

"A guardian beast, to be exact,” Woods replied.

"What? A guardian beast?" Rocky had never heard of anything about a guardian beast. Guardianbeasts could only be owned by the spiritual race. They were different from the spirit-manipulatedbeasts since they were much stronger and had more abilities.

Even a high-level spiritual beast such as the Rainbow Glow Unicorn would be common if comparedto a guardian beast of the spiritual race. For humans, it was difficult to imagine how powerful aguardian beast could be.

"By the way, keep in mind that my sister has decided to let you off the hook. I don't know why shedidn't kill you, but consider it a generous favor,” Woods said as he tried to recall the situation at thattime. If Alyssa was determined to take actions then, Rocky would had been dead.

"Or maybe she just wanted to do a good deed to credit her in the next world!" Rocky respondedwith a cold sneer.

Little did he know that the real reason why Alyssa hesitated to kill him was because he was destinedto break the curse seal on her body. Moreover, the two of them had a strange connection with eachother.

"Anyway, you are here now, safe and sound. Don't you ever disrespect her. And please don't call heran old woman anymore! You know how she is with such labels.” Woods tried to be serious, but hehimself burst into laughter. No one ever dared to call his sister old, and Alyssa was indeed pissed offwith Rocky for that insult.

"Hey, I was already too polite to a vicious woman like her,” Rocky said repulsively. He hated her verymuch.

"My sister is not a bad person, you know. She just grew up in a hostile environment. That place isvery cruel in such a way that if you show mercy, you will be killed by the others for being weak. Thatis why she tends to be a bit harsh.” Woods had heard of many horrible things that Alyssa had toexperience while she was still in the spiritual race. Thus, he knew why she had the propensity to becruel and unscrupulous at times. He had known many kind-hearted people that turned intomurderous devils in order to survive that place.

"Pfft! You are her brother. Of course you are on her side," Rocky spat and rolled his eyes, not buyingWoods’ story.

Boom! All of sudden, there was a fierce explosion outside. The carriage shook violently, and a burstof deafening hisses resounded.

"Stay here. I'll go out to take a look,” Woods said after exchanging glances with Rocky.

As soon as Woods stepped out of the carriage, he saw thirty mysterious masked men who were alldressed in black. All of them looked like spirit manipulators, and most of them were between theMortal Stage and the Earthly Stage. However, four of them were at the Heavenly Stage. Theyseemed to arrive there for a specific reason.

"Your Royal Highness..." At that time, three bodyguards at the Heavenly Stage presented themselvesin front of Woods.

"Who are these people?” Woods asked immediately.

"They look like mercenaries,” one of them replied.

"Mercenaries?" Woods’ eyes froze.

"Your Royal Highness, we will protect you and get you out of here. This might be a trap, so weshould not stay here for too long. We must leave now," another bodyguard said.

Woods paused for a moment and saw that the men in black were all spirit manipulators. As forthemselves, besides the three bodyguards at the Heavenly Stage and a few average spiritmanipulators, the rest were all ordinary Timber Deity Empire soldiers. It was evident that they wereno match against that number of spirit manipulators.

"I don't know why these mercenaries have ambushed us here, but I'm sure they have ill intentions.Let us get out of here quickly,” Woods said with a nod.

"What's wrong?" Rocky asked eagerly. He had made his way out of the carriage despite his injuries.Then, he saw the barricade of mysterious spirit manipulators who had apparently blocked their way."Is this your rescue team?" Woods asked as he turned to look at Rocky. He knew his question wassilly, but he had to ask anyway.

"No, I think they might have come here to kill me,” Rocky said with furrowed eyebrows. He hadheard from Woods why he and the Crimson Dragon Group soldiers were ambushed by Alyssa andwhy they were also pursued by the forces of the Timber Deity Empire. Apparently, someone hadsecretly revealed the information of their location. Rocky was certain that Alston was behind all of it.“These spirit manipulators might be sent by Alston too. He wants to kill me now and take advantageof my injury, * Rocky thought to himself.

"They are here to kill you? Are you sure?" Woods was shocked. He did not know why someonewould send so many mercenaries to kill Rocky. He thought that the news of Rocky being a traitormust have spread to the Holy Dragon Empire like wildfire. However, it was impossible consideringthe time it should take for all of that to happen.

"Ask your men to block them. Let's run first!" Rocky told Woods after giving the matter somethought. He was seriously injured, and his spiritual power had not fully recovered yet. If thosepeople were sent by Alston, he could only rely on Woods and his three bodyguards at the HeavenlyStage to protect him.
