"Actually..." Aware that Juey misunderstood him, Rocky wanted to explain his side further. However,Juey had already grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the interview area.

"Miss Juey, you misunderstood me. I don't want to...” Rocky was amused. Juey was too excited to lethim finish what he wanted to say.

When the disciples that were tasked to keep the order for the Xiao Clan saw Juey, they made wayfor her. Rocky did not have the chance to finish his words. She dragged him into the interview areaas the surrounding people fixed their eyes on them, including Mary and several beast curers.Almost everyone in the crowd knew Juey. They whispered among themselves and speculated aboutthe identity of Rocky and why he seemed to be so intimate with Juey. Their being together mademost of the people jealous.

Mary also became upset when she saw that Juey's body was just an inch away from Rocky. Sheimmediately walked towards them and scolded her sister, "What are you doing, Juey? How can youbehave like this in front of all these people? Do you want them to gossip about you?"

"Fine." Juey let go of Rocky.

Mary then looked at Rocky with anger in her eyes. As she stared at him, she realized he lookedfamiliar. She thought carefully and asked, "Are you the one working at the beast farm?"

"You still remember me?" Rocky replied with a sheepish smile.

"Mary, he wants to take part in the interview. Can you include him?" Juey asked.

"Him? He is not even a spirit manipulator. He is not eligible for the interview,” Mary answeredwithout batting an eyelash.

"We accepted an apprentice who was not a spirit manipulator before. He could learn the cultivationmethod once he joined our clan,” Juey argued. She knew that if Rocky was talented enough, hecould enroll and learn the skill from scratch even if he was not a spirit manipulator.

"Stop it! If father replaces out, he will reprimand you." Mary frowned as if disgusted with Juey'sunreasonable request.

"Father is not here, and he doesn't have to know. I think he is talented. Just let him have a try. Youcan always dismiss him if he performs poorly.” Juey took another shot in defending Rocky. She hadseen him tame the baby Magic Sword Panther the previous night, and she had a strong feeling thathe was talented.

"Miss Juey, please don't bother. I don't intend to take part in the interview,” Rocky explained."Good! At least you know where you stand. Now, go back to work!" Mary ordered and glanced atRocky from head to foot. Clearly, she disapproved of him.

Rocky did not want to argue with her and was about to leave, but Mary was not finished yet. Sheshouted, "You are a nobody. Don't chase Juey. Just leave her alone. A crow can never become aphoenix. So is a poor man like you.”

"Mary! How can you say that? He never chased me. This is embarrassing!" Juey exclaimed.

"You don't know this man. People like him look honest, but who knows what he is up to. You are toonaive. Stay away from him, understand?” Mary said. Her voice was stern, and an unexplained angerfilled her eyes.

Rocky did not want to cause trouble, but Mary's remarks triggered him. His eyes turned cold, andhis expression changed. Mary's insult was uncalled for and it provoked him. He was not the kind ofperson who took abuse and insult lightly.

He smiled at Mary, but his eyes burned with anger. Mary met Rocky's gaze, and it frightened her.She felt something in him changed and turned him into a different person. She was about to saysomething but changed her mind out of fear.

"Miss Mary, it's obvious that you dislike me. Since you look poorly on me and my abilities, I will domy best to make you change your opinion. I hope that you will allow me to take part in theinterview.” Rocky was good at reciprocating evil deeds. He wanted to return the abuse and madeMary regret her words.

"Rookie, she did not mean it!" Juey shouted in panic. Rocky and Mary were now at odds with eachother, and it was all her fault. She did not expect Mary would despise Rocky like this.

"I meant every word," Mary said coldly. With a sneer, she asked, "You want me to change myopinion of you? You're really dumb and thickheaded. That is not possible, but in the spirit offairness, I will give you a chance. If you pass the interview, I will make you a disciple of the Xiao Clan.If you fail, you must leave our place right away.”

It was an opportunity for Mary to kick Rocky out of the Xiao Clan. She could ask him to leavedirectly, but this was not a decent way to do it. She had to take into account the Xiao Clan'sreputation.

"Mary..." Juey was about to say something, but Rocky spoke, "Okay, I hope you know how to keep apromise. There are several witnesses here.”

Mary looked around and saw that the people had whispered among themselves. She felt disgracedarguing with a servant like this. It was not her style, and she felt embarrassed. She then turned around and went back to her seat. She asked the other interviewees to leave, andbefore long the interview area was empty.

"It's all my fault. I forced you to come here, and now Mary is pissed off with you. I don't know howto fix this. She will definitely replace fault with you." Juey blamed herself. She knew Mary would sendRocky packing if he failed the interview.

To her surprise, Rocky smiled and walked towards the interview area.

The surrounding people fixed their eyes on Rocky, expecting him to fail. Obviously, it was part ofMary's plan to embarrass him and make him the laughingstock of everyone.
