Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master -
Chapter 786 A Mystery
The scene in front of Rocky flashed in a thunder of lights and suddenly changed into a desolatelandscape. The ice tomb was gone.
"How could this be?!" Rocky froze in total shock then flew down. Just a moment before, he wasstaring at a huge ice tomb. All of a sudden, it was gone.
Rocky pulled the treasure map from his pockets and looked at it again. It indicated that he was inthe correct place.
"Could the treasure map be wrong?" Rocky told himself as he stroked his own chin. "Emperors andministers from the ancient times used to create simulated tombs to bait people and avoid thedestruction of the real one. Does that mean that the Myriad Spirit Tomb is actually in a differentplace?”
Rocky wondered how he could differentiate what was real or not. He closed his eyes and thoughtlong and hard before jumping down from the sand slope.
When he opened his eyes, the scene changed back into the original landscape.
"This must be an illusion.” Rocky leapt and landed on the huge ice tomb. On it, he saw countlessfigures of all shapes and sizes. Some of them were extremely tall, perhaps more than ten metershigh, while others were only the size of a palm. Some had black faces and tusks, while others hadwings like birds. None of them looked human.
The creatures’ sight only reminded Rocky of one thing: the spiritual race.
Rocky ran across the ice road that went through the entire ice tomb. He was shaking in fear. The icetomb buried tens of thousands of members from different clans of the spiritual race. Why they wereburied altogether, he did not know.
As he explored further, he gained some answers. It looked like the clans had undergone a very fiercebattle. Many of them only had fragments of broken bones while some were beheaded. All of themlooked terrifying.
"It looks like they went through an intense battle before dying,” Rocky guessed. He could onlyimagine how intense it must have been. The tens of thousands of members fighting at the sametime would have caused quite a scene.
He remembered the battlefield of beasts he had just passed by. Perhaps that could explain thebroken corpses he was seeing. He figured that the masters of the beasts fought with each other aswell, thus resulting in a completely desolate place.
Perhaps a terrible deadly war had occurred on the land he was in.
However, Rocky could only speculate. The truth might be more complicated. For all Rocky knew, thebodies buried might be clans of the spiritual race that existed on the Wild Spirit Land, both extinctand non-extinct ones. He was unable to guess what could have caused the war to begin with.
Of course, these clans of the spiritual race might represent two or even more forces. If that was thecase, then conflict was not impossible.
But a question remained: why did they all have to be buried in a single place? Why built such a hugeice tomb? This was an even bigger question if they were in fact from different forces.
With his mind racing, he continued walking along the ice road and had finally arrived at the centerof the ice tomb. He looked up and saw that there was an engraving of the three powerful livelyrunes. They did not look like they were written by humans; most likely they belonged to some clans.Nevertheless, Rocky was able to read the inscription as, "Myriad Spirit Tomb."
"So this is the legendary Myriad Spirit Tomb after all. The place where tens of thousands of clans ofthe spiritual race, which is now rare on the Wild Spirit Land, are buried. What a great opportunity forme to see many different clans of the spiritual race at once!" exclaimed Rocky.
Then, Rocky went to the back of the icy tombstone where he saw several lines of runes.Unfortunately, he was unable to decipher it. He decided to memorize the lines of runes. On his wayback, he could seek help from experts in translating them. Perhaps this could help him understandthe true background of the Myriad Spirit Tomb.
"The treasure map showed this Myriad Spirit Tomb without any other instructions. I hope thatmeans the treasure is nearby.” Rocky continued exploring the icy tombstone but had failed to seeany signs of treasure.
"Hmmm, ' Rocky thought, “maybe this isn't a treasure map. Maybe this is just a guide to replace theMyriad Spirit Tomb." Rocky inspected the treasure map in his hand. If what he thought was true, then he came in vain and only exposed himself to risks. He would come home empty-handed.
He almost gave up but, suddenly, he felt a strong aura coming from all directions. The temperaturedropped and the atmosphere became grave. The entire place filled with strong resentment.
Rocky perked up. He could sense that someone was approaching him. Shivers went down his spine. He could feel someone's sticky glares on his skin. He started to tremble.
His face turned pale. He wanted to leave the Myriad Spirit Tomb immediately. He knew that anytreasure he'd replace was not worth his life. But before he could take any action, a dozen of black beastshadows with different shapes appeared in the air. Rocky's eyes widened. He could feel the beasts"aura. It was at the Supernal Stage.
The gravity of the situation dawned on Rocky. He was surrounded by a dozen strong warriors at theSupernal Stage.
"Wait a minute. Are those Soul-shadow Beasts recorded by the Beast Encyclopedia? From what Iknow, those are souls without a physical body. They looked like shadows and possessed a powergreater than that of a spirit-manipulated beast. It was said that the Soul-shadow Beast was refinedby the soul of an ancient spiritual beast by the spiritual race, but without a lot of success. These aresupposedly rare creatures. Only the spiritual race is able to control such a Soul-shadow Beast.”Rocky recalled all the information about the beasts in front of him. He looked like he was incomplete shock. He didn't think he'd encounter such a rare beast, especially more than ten of themat the same time.
However, it was also recorded in the Beast Encyclopedia that Soul-shadow Beasts were divided intotwo kinds. One was the Shadow Beast and the other was the Soul Beast. The latter was morepowerful than the former.
Rocky supposed that the dozen of black beasts in front of him were Shadow Beasts instead. If theywere Soul Beasts, Rocky couldn't even begin to imagine what would happen to him.
