"Miss Mary, there are no outsiders here, you don't have to pretend. You wanted to keep me here bymentioning Miss Juey, didn't you?" Rocky casually said, exposing Mary's ulterior motive.

"Then why did you follow me? Why didn't you just leave? You have an ulterior motive about mysister. I'm not wrong." Mary didn't bother pretending anymore and her face immediately turned intoa sneer as she looked at Rocky, as if she had seen through all his layers into his true colors.

"Even if I do have an ulterior motive, what about it? From what I can see, Miss Juey is much morelikable than a scheming woman like you. Although you're sisters, you're very different from eachother. If you were even half as kind-hearted as Miss Juey is, you might be a little bit more adorable,”Rocky replied indifferently. He'd seen all kinds of women and most of them were obedient to him. Ifhe got serious and flirted with her, Mary would be no match for him and would be easilymanipulated.

"Why would I want to be more adorable? I don't want you to like me,” Mary retorted, thinking thatRocky was deliberately making fun of her.

"I'm not talking about me. To put it bluntly, I don't have any interest in you, Miss Mary. Please don'tthink that I do.” Rocky looked down at her as if to say, "Don't flatter yourself."

An embarrassed flush climbed on Mary's cheeks and her face twisted in anger. There was no waythat she could beat him in words, so she just glared at him and snorted without saying anythingmore.

Both of them continued walking in silence together for a while until they reached a quiet courtyardfull of peach blossoms.

"That's my sister's room. Go inside yourself." Mary pointed at a room within the yard and glanced atRocky.

A twitch pulled at the corner of Rocky's lips when he saw the angry look on Mary's delicate face. Hewent straight to Juey's room, but half way there, he suddenly paused to turn to Mary and said, "Goback and tell your father, don't waste time on me. I will neither listen to reason nor bow to force. Ionly do the things I want to do." After saying that, he continued walking.

"What an arrogant guy! Just wait. I'll deflate your big head before long.” When Mary heard thecocky tone, she was so angry that she could only stomp her feet and glare daggers at the back ofRocky's head for a moment before turning away.

When Rocky arrived at Juey's room, he hesitated for a moment before he reached out to knock onthe door.

"Who is it?" Juey's listless voice came from within the room.

"It's me, Rookie," Rocky replied lowly.

Only silence replied to him and the door remained shut in front of his face.

His brows knitted together as he stared at the door and wondered why Juey refused to open thedoor.

All of a sudden, the door flew open to reveal a gaunt Juey who stared at Rocky like he was a dreamthat would disappear. She didn't expect that the man she was longing for was here. She heard thatthe Xiao Clan left no stone untouched within the Barren City but failed to replace him, so it was likelythat he already left. But now, Rocky was back and she could only look on in surprise.

"Roo... Rookie? It really is you!" Juey exclaimed and her excitement was apparent even on her gauntface.

"What's wrong? Didn't you want to see me?" Rocky teased even though her joy in seeing him againwas clear as day on her face.

Suddenly, Juey's eyes watered as if she had been wronged.

"What's wrong? Did anyone bully you?" Whatever playfulness Rocky felt was quickly washed away,and a frown appeared on his face.

"I thought I'd never see you again...” Juey bit her pink lips as if trying her best to suppress heremotions. Even so, she couldn't help but let a few tears escape. She was a straightforward person. Ifshe felt like laughing, she'd laugh. If she felt like crying, she'd cry her heart out.

"We wouldn't have known each other if you hadn't accidentally taken me in. It's just a matter of timebefore we parted ways,” Rocky sighed.

"You risked your own life to save me. Even my father didn't care about my life. But you... I didn'teven get the chance to thank you." More tears raced down her delicate face.

"I saved you because you took me in. Don't cry. People will think I did something bad to you if theysee you crying." Rocky could only bitterly smile as he shook his head.

Juey wasn't a sentimental girl so she quickly wiped away her tears with her hands and then smiledthrough her tears. "I forgot to let you in.” She immediately moved aside and gestured for Rocky toget in her room.

"Is it okay for you?" Rocky asked politely. After all, it wasn't polite to enter a girl's bedroom withouther permission.

"There's nothing inconvenient.” Juey smiled and pulled him in, closing the door behind them. Shedidn't show a hint of fear that the man before her would do something to her.

As soon as Rocky finally got inside her room, his eyes quickly looked around. It was clean and tidy,nothing different from other girls’ rooms. The air inside smelt quite pleasant.

"Except for my father and brother, this is the first time that a man has come into my room.”Although Juey was rather simple, she still felt a little strange to be alone with a man. A bashful blushbloomed on her cheeks.

"I'm honored," Rocky joked and gave her a smile.

Juey smiled sweetly back at him and her smile was very like Sue's. Rocky could only stare at her,stunned. A hint of sadness flashed through his eyes.

Juey also noticed the way Rocky looked at her and asked in confusion, "Is there something on myface?"

"Nothing. I just felt a little sad.” Rocky barely managed to whisper out the words.

"Shouldn't you be out of the Barren City already? Why did you suddenly come back?" Juey's facewas full of confusion.

"I did leave Barren City to do something. After I was done, I came back and found that your XiaoClan offered a high price on me. I had to come back to see what was going on," Rocky replied with afaint smile.

"What's wrong with my father? Isn't it just the Beast Master Contest? To prevent the Xiao Clan frombeing disqualified from attending the contest, he even offered a reward on you. I can't believe it!"Juey knew that the Xiao Clan offered a reward on Rocky. It was all because of her father's selfishmotive to make the Xiao Clan stand out. He'd do anything to make that happen.

What Juey didn't expect, however, was that Lucas would recommend Rocky to the chief of the CaoClan and the latter ordered Rocky to participate in the Beast Master Contest on behalf of the XiaoClan.
