Rebirth of the Prime Dragon Master
Chapter 876 Complex Feelings

Alyssa had had a rough time during the period when Rocky had been assumed dead. Even rougherthan the immense dangers she had faced in the spiritual race land. She had turned into acompletely different person in that period, and all was just for a man.

The same man who was suddenly right in front of her after all she had had to endure. There hadbeen no warnings, nothing to help prepare her for this moment, making it very hard for her toaccept.

Her initial instinct should have been to lash out at him in anger. Essentially, he had fooled her for allthis time, playing dead and tormenting her in the process. However, seeing him in front of her, haleand hearty, none of her anger would stir to life. Instead, an overwhelming sense of pleasant surpriseovercame her.

All of a sudden, she wasn't sure how to face Rocky. As happy as she was to see him, a part of herwas still seething at the fact that he had faked his own death. The sane part of her mind knew shecouldn't just kill Rocky or do anything to punish him. After all, he held the only clue to help removethe curse on her.

The other part, well, it couldn't help but be elated to be able to see Rocky again. She blinked herlashes rapidly over her eyes, trying to obscure the complex feelings hiding behind them but failed."Have you looked your fill? It has only been a little over a month since we last saw one another. Didyou really miss me that much?" Rocky teased Alyssa who was now staring at him blankly. SeeingAlyssa so lost in thought appealed to him. It reminded him of a girl in her youth, longing for herlover. Once she was back to her senses, she slid back to her now-familiar arrogance.

She snorted derisively, staring pointedly at him, "What did you just say? Watch what you say, oryou'll regret it."

"If you didn't miss me, why did you bring me out in front of this crowd then? Aren't you afraid ofbeing misunderstood?” Rocky asked with a smile. Gossip would spread like wildfire in their wake asthey waded their way through many of the Timber Deity Empire's people. Alyssa was too smart tohave done that without being aware of what that would have looked like, which meant there musthave been a reason she had done it, one that Rocky was dying to know.

Alyssa's behavior so far led Rocky to believe that she didn't intend to kill him. He couldn't see anytrace of homicidal intent in her eyes. If Alyssa really wanted to kill him, she would have already doneit. Instead, it looked to him like she had something to say, which he found odd.

Now that he was certain that Alyssa wasn't going to kill him, Rocky breathed a sigh of relief. Heknew that killing him wouldn't be that difficult if she put her mind to it.

"Rocky, you're not dead? How are you back here now?" Alyssa asked after some time of silence."Maybe I wasn't fated to die so soon," Rocky responded, raising his eyebrows.

"I don't believe that." Alyssa wasn't buying such a bullshit explanation. She took advantage ofRocky's distraction and reached out a hand full of spiritual power. She pressed her fingers to histhroat and coldly asked, "What is your game? Why did you play dead and deceive everyone?""What game do you think I'm hatching? One that would require me to fake my own death?" Rockyasked her, playfully. To him, Alyssa thinking he had faked his own death to work some sort ofscheme was amusing. What an active imagination she had! But he didn't blame her for beingsuspicious.

Upon hearing this, Alyssa was a little stunned. She didn't really know. However, seeing Rocky appearhere in the Beast Master Contest on behalf of the Cao Clan with a fake identity, she couldn't helpbut be suspicious.

"Then tell me why you are here. Why did you join the Cao Clan and take part in the Beast MasterContest under an assumed identity?" Alyssa blurted out her thoughts on what made her doubt him."It is a long story. Though, if you had intended to kill me, you wouldn't have asked me that. Anyway, you've caught me. There's no running away even if I tried.” Rocky had chosen his words deliberatelybecause he knew he was safe. The only weird thing, however, was Alyssa's behavior. The woman infront of him was completely different from the one he knew before. She used to be bad-temperedlike a rose with fierce thorns.

She was too indecisive with none of her previous vigorousness and assertiveness.

"Who says I am going to kill you?" Alyssa spat coldly, freezing him with an icy glare. Then shewhipped her hand back.

"Prince Woods was right. You have changed," Rocky remarked at her strange reaction to him whilestroking his jaw.

"Woods? When did you see him?" Alyssa perked up her ears hearing her brother's name.

"A few days ago." Rocky smiled.

"He knew! He knew you were still alive, yet he didn't tell me." Her face darkened in fury.

"I told him not to tell you. I think he was also worried about what you would do to me if you foundout. Anyhow, I saved his life.” With a smile still drawn on his face, Rocky attempted to defendWoods

"Well, he doesn't know that you are...” Alyssa stopped before accidentally letting out the secret shehad been keeping.

Noticing that Alyssa was trying to hide something from him, Rocky frowned. He asked, "Where areyou taking me?”

The question gave her a pause. She hadn't really thought of where she was taking him, only that shewanted to get him out of here. Her body had been acting of its own volition in an instinct so shehadn't had the time to analyze. Alyssa knew that this was nothing like her, and this wasn't how shenormally handled things. It didn't take a genius to realize that it was Rocky's effect on her that wasmaking her act this way.
