Reborn Academy
2: "Welcome To "

I set my last finish suite case on my strip bed. Like my mama said I took the whole weekend to pack all of my things. We really didn’t speak at all, just when she’s asking what I desire for dinner or when it’s ready. My flight leaves at five and it’s three right now. I got up and took a quick shower, and put on a pink oversize shirt and sweats on. I really haven’t said anything to my friends except that I was moving. I took my suitcases one by one down the stairs. My mom should be home any minute now.

“This is crazy,” I mumbled to myself setting the last of my bags near the door.

I walk into the kitchen deciding to fix myself a snack. I grab a bag of chips from the top of the fridge. I threw the bag on the island before digging in the fridge for things to make a sandwich. I can hear my mom coming in when I was almost finished with my snack. She walks into the kitchen a few minutes later.

“Hey, sweetie! I see you got everything pack.” my mom said.

“Yeah. The flight does leave at five.” I told her cleaning up.

“Right! We better get your stuff in the car.” my mom sighed walking out the kitchen.

A minute later I follow after her. We silently pack my bags in her car. This is just ridicules we can’t end things like this. I don’t know when I’ll ever get to see my mom. I have to be the bigger person and at least try to resolve the problem. I close the trunk, walking back into the house. I stood in the foyer waiting for my mother.

“Ok. You ready?” she asks coming down the steps.

“No. We need to talk mom. We can’t go out like this.” I told her crossing my arms.

“Anglia, we never had a good relationship with each other since your dad left. I definitely don’t see us going back to what we had before.” She told me.

“Oh, Yeah. I forgot that you blame me for him leaving.” I let out sarcasticly.

“If we can’t patch anything up, I rather not get into an argument with you. Let’s just go.” She said going over to the door.

“This’s probably why dad left,” I mumbled.

“What?” My mom asks, turning to face me.

“You don’t listen, mom! Is that the reason why he left?” I yelled walking up in her face.

“Anglia you don’t know nothing about the reason why he left. So don’t think about yelling at me with that bullshit!”

“Then why! Why did he leave?”

She didn’t say anything, just look at me. I stood there waiting for her to answer me. Are eyes boring into each other as we both breath to catch our breath?

“You have to replace out why he left on your own, cause I don’t know. Now let’s go before you miss your flight.” She said, turning to walk out the house.

There was no word spoken between us the whole ride to the airport. I just laid the seat back and close my eyes the whole ride. That “not leaving things bad” didn’t work. Out all that well. At the airport, we said our goodbyes and kept it pushing. It was a bittersweet moment when the plane took off. I was leaving my hometown, my friends, teammates, and my mother behind. It’s a chance that I’ll never see them again.

“Ms. Deon please fasten your seat belt. We are getting ready to land.” A flight attendant said shaking me awake.

“Oh, sorry,” I told her to put on my seatbelt.

“No problem. Thank you,” she said before walking off.

I look out the window, seeing the land of Idaho. Yep, the academy I’m going to be attending is in Idaho. I can’t remember where it’s at on the map and I just took a states test a month ago. I ask for some water when the plane landed. I grab my carry-on luggage before making my way off the plane. My mom said that someone was supposed to pick me up from the airport when I land. So I went and got my other luggage before heading towards the front. I look around until I replace a guy holding up a sign with my name on it.

“Hello, I’m Deon,” I told the middle age guy stopping in front of him.

“Greetings Ms. Deon I hope your flight went swell. Want me to help you with some of your bags?” He asks me.

“Yeah, thanks….”

“Gavin.”

“..Gavin!” I finished handing him some of my bags.

“We better get going, you’re scheduled to meet with the Headmistress Haven.” He said leading me out the airport.

“Haven? So tell me what’s Reborn Academy all about?” I ask Gavin.

“You don’t know?” He asks me.

“No. My mom told me I had to replace out on my own.”

“Then Ms. Deon your in for a surprise.”

I look up at the huge Academy. It was set off in an excluded area. Trees surrounded the school I don’t know how many miles. My face was pressed up against the window looking up to see how tall the Academy is. How was I ever accepted in this place? Like really, this place is huge. Gavin stops the car right near the steps that lead up to the entrance of the building.

“This is so unreal!” I said, getting out the car.

I move to help Gavin with my bags. When we got all my bags out the trunk the door open to the building. I look up to see a middle age woman walking out the doors. She was tall about five nine and very slender. She wore her long blonde hair in a ponytail at the top of her head. When we finally made eye contact a smirk form on her lips.

“Ms. Deon I presume?” She asks, looking down at me.

“You presume right. You must be Headmistress Haven?” I told her.

Her smirk falters at my answer as she looks down at me with a frown. I tried to keep my own smirk at bay. I can hear Gavin chuckle softly behind me. She nods her head fixing her blazer.

“Gavin will show you to your room. You will be in your own room for now until we get a new income. Welcome to Reborn Academy!” She said before turning to walk back in.

“Isn’t she lovely?” I ask Gavin with a smile.

“Mostly. I can’t remember how long it’s been since I heard anyone ever speak to her like you did.” He said as we both gather bags in our arms.

“And the first person that even bothered to help me with their bags.” He said as we walk up the steps.

“Then be prepared for more first,” I told him with a smile.
