Chapter 1023 Not Even Gilbert Can Protect You

Kisa's heart sank. But, she was going to return the keys to Madalyn. Although she had taken the two keys to the two rooms, Madalyn would surely check and would soon replace out that the two keys were missing from the bunch. So, the best way was to wait for her to duplicate the keys before returning them to Madalyn.

With that in mind, she calmly said, "The key is with Gilbert."

Madalyn frowned suspiciously. "He doesn't have it on him."

"Then, I have no idea. He got the keys and took me up there. He also said that he stole the keys from your safe."

Seeing Madalyn's increasingly suspicious face, Kisa snickered, "You don't need to suspect me. There is no way I can guess the combination to your safe. Only Gilbert has that ability."

"Humph!" Madalyn glared at her in disgust. "I don't care about your intentions in

approaching Gilbert and living in the Kooper residence. I'm telling you, if you hurt Gilbert one bit, I will not spare you."

"Come on, grandma," Kelvin urged. "I think they really love each other. Let's not doubt her. Come on, let's go see Gilbert."

Madalyn kept on grunting at Kisa in disgust. As she was leaving, she warned Kisa coldly, "Stay away from those two rooms upstairs. You better behave yourself in this house. Otherwise, not even Gilbert can protect you."

Kisa secretly clutched the two keys in her pocket, telling herself in her mind that she would surely replace another opportunity to check out the two rooms.

She remained awake in the latter half of the night. At dawn, she changed her clothes and left the house. Following the navigation, she went to a locksmith store, which duplicates keys. She was too early as the store was not open yet. The sign on the wall told her that the shop opened at 8am in the summer. She looked at the time, and it was some time past 7am, so she figured that there was no harm in waiting. So, she took a look down the alley.

The alley was full of breakfast stalls and was quite crowded. She put on her mask and quickly went down the alley to buy a cup of coffee and some sandwiches. When she came back, the locksmith store was still not open. So, she sat on a bench and had breakfast while waiting.

Just then, someone familiar appeared on the opposite side of the street. Kisa sat up

straight and took a closer look. She saw a black limousine parked on the opposite side of the road while a woman was leaning over the door of the car, crying and saying something to the person inside. She recognized the woman at once. It was Lea.

Kisa squinted but could not determine who was sitting in the car because the windows were tinted. She remembered that Lea was an orphan and had no family and friends in Calthon. So, she wondered who could be sitting in the car. Lea was not looking well, and she seemed sad.

She stood up and was about to go over to check it out when a raspy door opening sounded behind her. She subconsciously glanced back and saw the store owner yawning as he opened the door fully. "Yo, it's early in the morning. You want to pick a lock?"

"No, I just want to duplicate some keys," Kisa said, and then hurriedly crossed the road. But, Lea was no longer there, and the limo was gone. She figured that Lea must have gotten into that car and left. She wondered what had happened to Lea recently, as Lea seemed like she was crying earlier and looking sad.

Inside the car, Anthony puffed irritably on his cigarette. "Who told you to come to the hotel to replace me?"
