Chapter 1506

'You don't need to say a damn thing," he flicked his lighter and smirked. 'I found you passed out on the street and brought you back. Even had a doctor check you out." Kisa's heart pounded at his words, and she instinctively clutched her stomach.

David gave her a cold glance and snickered. "No wonder you never had the balls to take on Gilbert. You've been carrying his seed all this time."

'You knew I was never serious about working with you?' Kisa asked.

David chuckled. "Your acting skills were top-notch. I was fooled until Mia handed me those classified files. But no worries. Everything is under my control now."

"What else do you want from me?" Kisa asked, her voice icy. "You have already gone after Christopher, Carolyn, and taken everything, from the Kooper residence to GK. What more could you possibly want?" David sneered. "That is not even close to enough. Compared to the pain I have suffered, those things are mere child's play."

As he gazed upon Kisa's enraged face, David let out a sinister chuckle.

"To be honest, you should be grateful to me. If it weren't for me, you would never know the truth about the prison fire that happened years ago."

"Thank you? You are the one who meddled in everything, causing all those misunderstandings between me and Gilbert," Kisa spat. "He's your own nephew, and he never did anything to deserve your revenge. What the hell do you want from him?"

'He doesn't owe me a damn thing, but the problem is he is a Kooper family descendant. It pisses me off how life is so damn unfair. We share the same last name, but why the hell do Damon and his son get to have it all?" David's eyes burned red with anger, and his face twisted with resentment.

"I knew from a young age that I could never have anything that belonged to the Kooper family, so I never even tried. I even sucked upto Damon, thinking that if I did, the old lady would treat me like her own son and accept me as part of the Kooper family. But no, she never did. Even your mother, in the beginning, preferred Damon. Why the hell could I never measure up, no matter how hard I tried? Can you explain that to me?"

Kisa watched David cautiously, fearful that he might lash out at any moment. Thankfully, he kept his cool and did not harm her. She pressed her lips together and said, "I heard that Mrs. Kooper Sr. wanted to set you up with my mother back then."

"Ha!" David snorted. "Do you know why she wanted to set me up with your mother?" Kisa stared at him but did not say anything.

David laughed bitterly.

"Because Damon didn't like your mother, and the old lady was afraid that she would cling to him, so she thought setting me up with your mother would be a good idea. If Damon had any interest in your mother, do you really think I would stand a chance? Everything I have is just what Damon's leftovers."

"How is that even possible?" Kisa could not believe it. But her mother's diary did record her feelings for Damon. She wondered if what David said was true.

David shook his head, and his voice was filled with sorrow. "I thought this kind of bullsh*t only happened to me, but it seems like it's happened to my son as well."

"Are you talking about Jensen?" Kisa's heart raced with fear.

"Do you know how you survived the fire all those years ago?" David asked, and Kisa had a bad feeling about where this conversation was headed. She tightly gripped the bedding, not saying a word. David blew a smoke ring and said slowly, "It was Jensen who risked his life to save you."

"No, no..."
