Reborn Through Fire (Kisa and Gilbert)
Chapter 52 How Can I Protect Her?

Gilbert squinted and clenched his teacup.

Anthony unceremoniously entered the bedroom as if a visitor, checking the cabinet and going around to the bathroom.

Gilbert was relieved when Anthony did not replace the woman. He lowered his eyes and laughed sarcastically. "You are interesting, Anthony. Those who don't know would think that you are here looking for your cheating girlfriend."

Anthony had egg on his face when he did not replace Kisa. He chuckled. "I just want to see if you really did not have any call girl here."

Gilbert was sipping his tea casually, a stark contrast to Anthony's impatience. He carefully gazed at Gilbert's expression, but he could see the slightest flaw on his calm face. He frowned. 'Could it be that he wasn't the person who saved the ugly woman?'

As Anthony was thinking, Gilbert suddenly looked at him. "It is getting late now. I have a meeting tomorrow. If you don't want to leave, you can stay for the night. It is just that I don't have any women here. So I'm afraid that you won't be used to sleeping alone at night."

"No, no, no. You are my guest. How can I, as the host, stay in one place with you," Anthony said, clapped his hands, and laughed. "Okay. Since you are tired, I will leave now. To make up for my poor hospitality tonight, I will treat you to dinner next time."

Gilbert said nothing, just smiling gently, and Anthony took another glance under the bed before leaving. Just as he left, Davian came in.

"Mr. Kooper, it was lucky that you had the foresight to cut the surveillance for tonight and tell the receptionists what to say. Otherwise, Anthony would have known that Mrs. Kooper was with you." "How many people did he bring with him?"

"I have just secretly checked it out; there are at least two dozen thugs, and they are all still guarding the hotel," Davian said, not without anxiety. "What should we do now? This is Athadale, which is his territory. If he insists on taking Mrs. Kooper, I'm afraid that even you can't protect her."

Davian was right; if Anthony really found Kisa just now, he could have found ten thousand reasons to take Kisa away in front of Gilbert. He could not clash with him head-on, but he could start with the people around him.

Gilbert frowned. "We will have to take her back to Calthon, soonest." In Calthon, Anthony would not have dared to be so blatant. At best, he could only do something in the dark. But now Anthony had guessed that Kisa was still alive. If this continued, Kisa might be in danger.

'How can I protect her? It is not like I can just replace an excuse to ground her in the Kooper residence like I did five years ago. Also, she doesn't listen to me at all now.' He could not help but feel annoyed at the thought of this.

Seeing Gilbert kneading his brow with a tired look on his face, Davian said, "Mr. Kooper, it is late now. You'd better rest first."

Gilbert took a deep breath and walked slowly toward the bedroom. The room was empty, the mattress and quilt had not been touched, and there was no one in the closet or bathroom. So it was no wonder Anthony suspected little. But he saw Kisa come in with his own eyes. If she was not here, he wondered where she was hiding.

The curtains danced with the cool breeze blowing in through the window. Gilbert looked at the curtains and frowned. As he thought of a certain possibility, he rushed to the window at once.
