REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON -
Chapter 120: A Battle of Fear
Merida's POV
I felt desperate to see Lyra, to explain things to her, so I fell to Zeus' scheme. It was for the best, I thought.
"Here we are, Merida. Right on time." Zeus remarked when we met at the Grim mountain.
"I shall begin the procession, but you must be warned that this procession would certainly release harmful spirits to our natural world, " I said, settling down to begin.
"What should be done, must be done," he replied, signalling his men to move backwards.
"The fight against this sort of evil is not done with sword and spear, your men would only prove to be useless, "I cautioned as I noticed that he came prepared with a lot of warriors. He lacked knowledge. "Thats why your type remains, not so? we shall overcome. Let the process begin," he replied, filled with desperation.
I brought out a mirror and gave it to him.
"You represent the head wolf of this pack. You must speak permission into the mirror, and the spirits would listen to you," I told him.
Looking into the mirror, he spoke. Commandments, as the spirits called it.
"I implore you, great ones of the beyond. I need you to come..... come.....tell me, reveal the present, the future," he said, looking into the mirror.
"You must present yourselves, we need you, I need you. Come!!! " he added.
Suddenly, it started raining, thunder bolts breaking through the dark clouds. It continued for a while, till we saw a very bright light, too bright to behold. It moved towards us, packs of light here and there. As if in cue, I got possessed, revealing my true witch form. My hair changed instantly, my clothes got torn, my fingers shrinked, growing long in the process.
"Oh, he wants Revelation, he'll get it of course... hahaha," I heard myself say. A full witch I had become.
Zeus was truly a great warrior, for during these great changes, he stood firm, determined to see the end of it.
The bright light got to the the tip of the mountain and stopped. Then it expanded. I said more incantations, summoning them to listen to the command of Zeus, the representative of the pack that's summoning the spirits. I knew they would oblige, for spirits, they say, are roaming about, looking for a body to express themselves. The bright light became a round door, a passageway.
"Yesss.... they are almost here!!!" I screamed, moving my head.
The first pack of spirits became visible, their feat failing to touch the ground.
"We can help you," we heard them say from the boundary of the door and our pack.
"Lyra is......" they cut short. It signified that they clearly didn't know where she was. But the portal was already open, so they couldn't go back to their dimension, they freely moved into our pack.
The second pack came, doing the same. Zeus didn't seem to mind their entrance. He stood there, eagerly waiting for the right Spirit.
Then a single, strange spirit came in, it's feet also failing to touch the ground.
"Lyra is in Russia, in Motown pack," it said, still at the entrance.
"Finally," Zeus said out loud.
The spirit breezed in. It's face familiar. When it got closer, Zeus quickly identified it.
"Ryker!!!" he exclaimed.
Lyra's POV
I left Axel's presence, hoping to have left him encouraged.
"We meet again, Lyra," I heard from afar, just outside the stadium gates.
"David. Good to see you too. Now, I need an explanation. Why did you run off the other night. Any clue as to who possessed you?" "Naomi did," he replied bluntly.
"It had to be her," he added.
I always had the slightest of feeling that she had a hand in it, but I didnt want to seem to forward, especially without evidence.
"So what proof have you got?" I asked him, trying my best to be neutral.
"That's it Lyra, there's no proof, but I'm strongly in belief that she's the one. Only her has the effect of closing my heart. I feel empty around her, sort of in a pit without a bottom," he replied. "So what's to be done about it? Are you willing to take the risk to know the truth?" I asked him.
"I'll hate to be in bondage forever, Lyra. Help me get out of this mess."
"Hmm, witches are difficult to comprehend. You've got to first determine if the witch is a separate being from Naomi, or they're one entity, "
He wasn't prepared to believe my last statement, "Impossible, Lyra. Naomi may use a spell quite alright, but she not a witch. She certainly can't be one."
He paced around the stadium gates to and fro, his hands by his waist.
"You know what, Lyra, maybe she just wanted me to love her, so she asked a witch to invoke a spell on me,"
"Hate to say this, but that's far from the truth, David. The spell against you is a strong one. It couldn't possibly be used by a normal mortal against you,
He paced around again for a while, then sat down on a large stone nearby. I walked over to him and patted his shoulders.
"David," I said, "Amira needs you to be strong for her now. We must work really hard to break you out of the terrible curse....." "Spell, you mean. " he interrupted.
"You think this is a joke? You were witch bounded and you think it's just a spell? And guess what, David, with all I've seen and I'm sure of, you are pregnant for a witch,"
"Take it easy on me, Lyra. For all we know Naomi hooked me with a love portion, but there's no proof that she's one."
Clearly he was defending her. He knew nothing about the different potents of a love potion. The little time I spent with Aria and Merida taught me a lot about spells, potion, bounds and their various strengths. Oh, poor Amira and Merida. I hope they're ok. Zeus, I knew, was a terrible monarch, he might command them to use their abilities for evil.
"Lyra, are you with me?" David called out, snapping me into conscious reality.
"Oh, of course I'm ok. Like I said earlier, Naomi is likely a witch. " I replied.
"It's only a witch that had the ability to erase a wolf of his thoughts to mark his original mate. You marked her, didn't you. But clearly she's not your mate...."
"....Amira is," he interrupted.
"Exactly. So, she couldn't possibly summon a witch to perform such for her, she would have made terrible sacrifices to achieve that, and it wouldn't even be a permanent mark. But the reverse is the case for you both. " I said. "Now you make sense, Lyra. Now it all makes sense. But how can I break from this.... witchcraft?" he asked, looking terribly worried.
"You can do that, all you need is courage. And you'll surely lose your child in the process," I stated the worse, obviously.
"Fuck!!!" he exclaimed, burying his head on his hands.
