REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON
Chapter 26: Unravelling Mysteries

Kyle's

POV

I stood at a corner, and watched Lyla train. I was surprised Aria even let her come after the ruckus I caused yesterday.

Lyla's movement was more determined than I have ever seen her before. She had improved greatly, faster than I anticipated.

I felt proud of her. She was getting stronger, but so was my father.

After the meal with my father yesterday, I was more than sure my father had secrets that needed to be uncovered.

Lyla was in the centre of it for some reason. And I needed to protect her. But to do that I needed to get the truth from her. I needed to know what made he so special. "Lyla, take a break."I called out, my voice firm but also calm.

She stopped, and began panting. She wiped a sweat from her head. I can keep going."She said with determine.

I should be very happen that she said that but I couldn't stop myself from thinking about her safety.

"I know."I replied. "But we need to talk."

I was done trying to no avail. It was time I came straight out.

"About what?"She asked curiously.

I gestured for her to seat Close to me,on a rock. "Lyla, I need you to tell me the truth considering what ever I ask." "Okay. What is it?"She asked.

"Lyla, what are you?"

Not probably the best number one question but at least it was something.

"What are you talking about?"she asked in confusion.

"For someone that just came into town, my dad takes so much interest in you."

Her gaze became distant. "How should I know that? Ask your dad instead."She stated.

"He didn't tell me that's why I decided to ask you. I know you're not a normal werewolf. That's all I know but i need you to tell me more."

"Kyle, I need to go back to practice."She said trying to ignore me.

"Lyla, I know my father. Him being that much interested in you mean something. He's very dangerous. I want to help but I can't do that if you don't trust me. Please, tell me."

I could see she was hesitating. She sighed and looked up at me. "Kyle, I appreciate your concern, but I don't want you to get involved. I don't want you to get caught up in danger because of me."

At this point, I was already frustrated. "Lyla, I'm already involved. My father thinks something about you but isn't yet sure. And I'm sure he's correct based on the way you're acting. I can't just stand by and do nothing."

Her expression changed. You don't understand, Kyle. The more you know, the more danger you're in. I can't let you take that risk."

"Lyla, I'm not asking for permission. Whether you like it or not, I'm part of this."I insisted. "I'm not going anyone or my father hurt you."

She stood up and turned away from me. "It's not that simple, you don't know what he's capable of, what I'm capable of. If you get to close, you could get hurt and I cane bear it."

"Lyla, "I said softly as I stood up and walked close to her. I'm not afraid, whatever it is we can face it together. You don't have to be alone in this."

She turned back to me and her eyes were filled with tears. "You don't get it, Kyle. I spent my life trying to protect the people who I care about but I failed. I can't let you get hurt because of me."

I plaed my hands on her shoulder. "And I've spent my whole life trying to prove that I am nothing like my father and I am more than what he tjimk I am. This is my chance to help someone i care about. Please dont push me away." She looked at me for a long time before she flinched. "Fine but I won't tell you everything. Some secrets are meant to be kept hidden because they are dangerous."

I nodded accepting for now. "But at least let me help you replace some answers."

How do you intend on doing that?" I questioned.

"There's a old libary in the heart of Tennessee. It holds acient text and recording. Some of which could have the answers to what you're looking for. We'll go there tonight so no one could see you."

She nodded. "Okay. Just promise me if anything happens we live immediately. An we have to be careful.

"I PROMISE " I said holding her hands. "Don't worry. We'll be in and out of there before you know it,

The sun began to set and we began to move. We walked through the bayou into town.

The libary was hidden deep and it was only know to few people. We pushed open the wooden door and stepped inside.

The scent of old books filled the air. I had always like the smell of old books. I used to come here alot when I was younger but i stopped. I had no idea why I did.

"Look for anything that has powers in them."I instructed.

We split up, each of us going through different shelves. We pulled out some books but it got us nowhere.

Hours passed and still nothing. I was already getting frustrated when Lyla called out to me.

"Kyle, look at this."I hurried over to her.

She was holding an acient book which was covered by leather. It also has strange symbols on them.

She opened the book and scanned through it. "It's the prophecy. So it's true."She muterred.

"What prophecy?"I asked her.

She hesitated at first before she talked. "It speakes about a werewolf who has the power to protect and lead. And to unite ."She said.

I didn't know if she was telling the truth but i knew for sure that there was more to this that met the eyes.

"Is it about you?"I asked her while staring at her to see her reaction.

She looked at me with fear In her eyes ."I don't know."

I put my hand on her shoulder. "Then we need to figure this out. We'll do it together, Lyla. You're not in this alone."

"She shook her head while pulling away from my reach. "No, Kyle. I told you, I can't involve you in this than you already are. This is my fight."She said.

I was so confused about the whole situation.what did she mean it was her fight?
