REBORN UNDER THE FULL MOON -
Chapter 57: Unspoken Desires
KYLE'S
POV
Kiera was almost caught by Lyra today, she disappeared as soon as she saw Lyra or that is what Lyra thought. I knew she was still standing there is just camouflaged herself.
"Lyra, what are you doing out here?" I asked appearing surprised like I didn't feel her presence as soon as she came in.
"I came to check on you. I didn't see you after I finished cleaning up the place with everyone," she explained and my heart warmed that she thought of me but that only increased my guilt. "I was just here chilling," I said as I looked back to where Kiera once stood to see that she was no longer there.
"Who was that I saw you with," Lyra asked.
"Um, that's Kiera. She is my ... um" I stuttered as I tried to explain who Kiera was.
"Oh, it's okay no need to explain who she is," She said in a very low voice that I almost didn't hear her.
I decided to drop it and let her think what I assumed she was thinking that I was romantically involved with Kiera because I could not explain to her that Kiera was my real father's assistant. It will lead to things I am not ready to discuss.
"I'm going to bed," she said as she quickly walked away leaving me with the night.
LYRA'S POV
I didn't want Kyle to see that I was feeling a little bit jealous. Okay maybe not a little bit but I was feeling jealous and I didn't know why. so many thoughts came to my head like is she his betrothed?
I could not sleep that night and it wasn't because of the war. The next morning came in a blur and I stood up from my bed and I hadn't received a wink of sleep but I had to go to the training ground so that is what I did. "Well, somebody looks like shit," Aria laughed.
"Oh, thank you. I feel like shit too," I smiled sarcastically and continued to the training grounds.
"No, really what is going on with you?" Aria asked looking worried.
"Honestly, I don't know. I am just tired," I sighed as I continued to the door then I spotted Kyle and I stopped on my tracks.
"Did something awkward happen between you two?" Aria asked and my skin flushed from embarrassment as I remembered how I acted last night.
He isn't even my man. I thought.
"Um.. no nothing. Um I just uh.."
"Hi, good morning, Aria, Lyra," Kyle nodded at us and my skin turned a deeper shade of red that I didn't think possible.
"I have to go," I said quickly and excused myself from the scene.
The training went smoothly, the species had gotten better and we even found a new species of wolves down west and we invited them to stay with us. They were even more advanced and helped everyone train better. I was happy and impressed by the improvements.
"Lyra, we need to talk," Kyle as to me as I walked to my bedroom.
"Is it urgent?" I asked not looking at him as I continued walking to my room.
"Yes, it is. There is something that has been bothering me and I want to talk to you about it," Kyle said.
"Hmm okay then, come in," I welcomed him into my room.
"Okay what is it? What do you want to talk about?" I asked.
"Why are you avoiding me Lyra?" Kyle asked me and I looked at my fingernails.
"I am not avoiding Kyle, what are you talking about," I said looking at anything but Kyle.
"You don't stay in the same room as me, if I am supposed to do the same duty as you, you opt out. You cannot even look at me," Kyle said seeming frustrated.
"I am not avoiding you, Kyle. End of discussion. You can go now," I said as I walked to my dressing table picking up irrelevant things.
Kyle walked towards me and held my wrist turning me around to face him.
"Lyra look at me,” Kyle said to me as he held my chin and forced me to look at him.
A gasp left my body as he touched my skin.
"Why are you avoiding me?" he asked his voice barely above a whisper.
I could not focus. We were too close. I noticed the little freckles around his nose and cheeks and the little flecks of green, in his eyes. I licked my lips and I saw his eyes follow the little movement of my tongue against my lips. Suddenly we became closer and if he just moved forward by an inch our lips will be touching. He looked into my eyes then my lips again as if requesting for something forbidden.
My thinking was muddled and the room felt small and every inch of my body was burning up.
"Lyra, the truck are..." Aria stopped on her tracks as I and Kyle instantly fled from each other.
"Oh, I am sorry," Aria said quickly as she turned around to leave.
"Wait Aria, what did you want to say? Kyle was just leaving," I said not looking at him as his gaze burned into the side of my face before he walked away.
"Mhhm.. so?" Aria said with a smirk on her face.
"Mhhm nothing. What did you want to say to me?" I asked her changing the topic and trying to wipe that annoying smirk off her face.
"The trucks for the war supplies are here. I thought you wanted to check them. I'm sorry for interrupting your moment," She wriggled her brows.
"Aria please be serious and you were not interrupting any moment," I said as I walked towards the field and Aria followed me.
"Hmph, if you say so," Aria said and I just shook my head. I really didn't have the strength to start explaining what she saw even I didn't know what was happening.
