Red Hot Love: The Morningstar Series: Book 5
Red Hot Love – Chapter 15

I arrived Sunday morning in Idaho. Standing in the airport I looked around for familiar faces. I was told that someone would be here to drive me to where I’m staying. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t looking for my mates.

Finally, my eyes scanned over a couple faces that I did recognize. I tried to not let the disappointment show on my face as I walked over to them. Not my mates, but my mates parents.

“Hey, Billy and Evie right?” I asked as I walked up to them. They even smell like Ozzy. “Or should I call you Mr and Mrs…” Oh my Goddess I don’t even know my mate’s last names.

Evie giggled, and rested her palm on my arm. She is so pretty. Ozzy looks just like her. Evie’s red curly hair is down, and looking wild. I wonder if Ozzy’s would look that wild if it were longer. Her bright blue eyes sparkled under the floresent lights. Ugh, I can’t wait to see my mates.

“It’s Davis, but you are more than welcome to call us Billy and Evie.” Evie told me.

I beamed. “Thank you.” I said.

“I would stick with Mr. and Mrs. Jamison when it comes to the other two though.” Billy told me. “They aren’t as… cool as us.”

I nodded. “I totally understand that.” I said. “So, are, uhm, are they here?”

I couldn’t help but to ask. I just wanted to see them. They’re the whole reason I’m here afterall. My fingers are just itching to touch them.

Evie gave me a sad smile. “No, we didn’t tell them that you were coming. We were hoping to surprise them.” She told me sounding hopeful.

I tried to return her smile the best I could.

“I get it, it’s alright. Hopefully they’ll be okay with me being here.” I said.

We started walking for the exit. Once we were outside in the parking lot Billy turned his head to me. He looked me up and down, but I only smiled at him. These are the parents of the people I love. If they want to scrutinize me, then by all means.

“What if they aren’t okay with you being here?” Billy asked.

“Billy.” Evie scolded.

“No, it’s okay. You guys can ask me anything.” I said. “Uhm, well I would still try to give it a shot, but if they really don’t want to be with me then I guess…” I trailed off. This is going to be hard to say. “I guess I would let them reject me, accept it, and leave.”

We stopped in front of a car. Billy helped me to put my things in the trunk. After we were all settled in the car we started driving. I thought that they weren’t going to reply to what I said since it had been so long, but then Evie spoke up.

“You would really tell them how to reject you if they didn’t want you?” She asked.

I furrowed my brow. “Well, I certainly don’t want us all to live with pain for the rest of our lives.” I said, and then a thought hit me. “They haven’t been having pain have they? They’ve been alright with the distance?” I rushed out.

“Distance?” Billy asked.

“Ahh, that must be that bit of pain Ozzy told us about.” Evie said, and then she turned her head to me. “They have been fine I suppose. Sad, but not in too much pain.” She told me.

I nodded. “That’s good.” I mumbled.

I wasn’t sure how I would feel if they felt the same pain I had. Part of me almost wishes that they did. Maybe they would have saught me out at one point. Another part, a much bigger part, was happy that they didn’t have to go through that. It was the worst pain of my life.

“Did you feel pain?” Evie asked me.

I gave her a sheepish look. “Nothing I couldn’t handle.” I lied.

Evie nodded to me. I wasn’t sure if she believed me or not, but she didn’t say anything else about it. I was thankful for that. I didn’t want any of them to know the pain the distance caused me. No need to make anyone feel bad.

“I gotta ask.” Billy said getting my attention. “You said that you would let them reject you, you haven’t pushed all that much since you all met..” He trailed off. “Why don’t you just mark them, and not give them a choice?” He asked.

I was a little bit shocked by his question. Honestly, I shouldn’t be. I’m a Morningstar. People expect that kind of thing from us. Not that any of us had ever done that. Though, Ares has yet to meet his mate.

“I would never mark them without their consent.” I stated.

“Why not? They would get over it. That’s how the bond works right?” Evie asked shocking me yet again.

“Evie.” Billy scolded.

“What? It’s true.” She said.

I chuckled softly, and shook my head.

“It would probably work. With time they would give in. Even Olive’s stubborness would waver eventually. But I would never do that to them. I want them to want to be with me because they love me, not because I forced them.” I said.

“Is that why you never came here before?” Evie asked.

“We know you can teleport. Honeslty, we thought that you would have tried to come see them by now.” Billy added.

I sighed, and looked out the window.

“It was pretty clear that they didn’t want to see me. I didn’t want to make things worse. And I was also not allowed to, per my parents.” I admitted. “Honestly, I think it would have happened eventually. I would never have pushed myself on them or anything, but.. Just to see them for a second, to inhale their scent, see their smiles, anything really. I’m not sure I could have went much longer without them.” I said.

When I looked up Evie was staring at me. She has a bright smile, and a twinkle in her eye. Goddess, she looks so much like Ozzy. Billy is looking the same. His eyes are on the road, but I can still see his bright smile.

“So, you wanna stop, and get some food?” Evie asked.

I nodded. “That sounds great. I’m starving.” I said.

*********************************************

We had stopped through a drive through, and were back on the road. I think that Billy and Evie are surprised by how much food I got. That’s okay though, because I paid for it all. Billy wasn’t thrilled about that, but I insisted.

So far, it seems that Ozzy’s parents like me. Being around them is making me feel better too. I’m sure it’s just the fact that they smell like my mate though.

Ezra still hasn’t surfaced, but there is a buzzing beneath my skin as we get closer. Will I get to see them today? Gods, I hope so.

“So, we should probably explain to you how this place works.” Evie said. “Are you familiar with Fury’s?” She asked.

I nodded. “I know that back in the 1700s you guys broke off from the rest of the Fae world. You guys don’t usually mix well with other species. I’m surprised you picked this realm to settle in.” I said.

Billy laughed. “Yeah well, we like it here.” He said.

“What you said is true Azai, but that isn’t all.” Evie began to explain.

“Most of our kind do still live in the Fae realm. We broke off from them shortly after Ozzy and Olive were born. We didn’t agree with the old ways. Times are changing. So, we broke off, and created our own coven, here on Earth.” She told me.

“We came here to start fresh. We built a place in the moutains for our kind to thrive. And we have been, espeically with all the new mates from this past summer.” She turned to give me a wink.

“Anyways, this place is a hospital, open for everyone including humans. There is a lab in the basement, that I and Gian work in. The back half of the building are apartments for us. There is also a back entrance. And the kids have classes there as well. There is a special area under the hospital, away from the lab, that holds classes. That’s where you’ll be.” Evie finished.

“Uh, wow. Must be a big building.” I said.

Evie giggled. “Yeah, it’s pretty big.”

*********************************************

We made small talk for the rest of the drive. A short while later we pulled into a parking lot. I can see the tall building in front of us. It’s one of the biggest hospitals I have ever seen. I guess it would have to be, to also be apartments, and have a mini school, and lab in the basement. The building is a gray-white color. It looks like any other hospital.

We pulled around to a gated area in the parking lot. Billy pulled up to a keypad on the outside. He punched in a few numbers, and the gates beeped while opening. We pulled around to the back where there were several other cars. Billy parked, and we all got out.

Billy and I grabbed my things from the trunk, and they lead me to the doors. Inside is a lounging room. I can see a few people lingering around. All of their eyes fell on me as we walked through. I pretended not to see them. None of them are the eyes I want, so I do not care.

I was lead to an elevator. We took it up to the 10th floor. I waited patiently as Billy and Evie lead me down a hall. We stopped in front of a door. Evie turned the handle, and pushed the door open. Then she gestured for me to walk in.

Smiling to her, I walked into the room, and flipped a switch on. It’s a bedroom. The walls are white and bare. There is a large king sized bed in the middle of the room, against a wall. A light wood bedside table on each side of the bed. Across from the bed is a light wood long dresser with a large flat screen TV on top of it. A desk is sitting in the corner of the room to my left.

I turned to the couple that brought me here.

“Thank you. It’s very lovely.” I said.

Evie beamed at me. “There’s as closet here.” She said as she walked in, and opened one of the doors. “And a bathroom in here.” She opened another door to show me that bathroom.

I smiled at her. “Thank you very much.”

“You can get settled in later. Let’s show you around some.” Billy offered.

*********************************************

Two hours later, and I have seen everything. The hospital part, the lab, where classes are held, and where to get food. Finally we were on our way back to my room. I’m not sure how they expect me to remember everything, but I’ll try my best.

I would get whiffs of my mates here and there, but they were so subtle that I knew they weren’t around anymore. Must have been lingering scents from their every day lives. I sighed internally. I just want to see them.

“Let’s get you some food before we take you back, yeah?” Evie asked as she dragged me to the cafetria.

I say cafetria, but it’s really a small room with a kitchen, couch, and a dinner table. Because there are so few students, all the older kids are in charge of making their own meals. The teachers take care of the younger ones. Students are also allowed to go to their homes for lunch, which is an hour long. This kitchen stays stocked at all times with all kinds of snacks and foods as well.

After grabbing a bunch of stuff to take to my room, I turned to walk out. Evie and Billy are waiting in the hallway for me, and I didn’t want to make them wait forever. As soon as I turned around I bumped into someone.

“Oh s**t, sorry I didn’t mean- Alison?” I asked as I recognized the short haired girl.

“Azai? What are you doing here?” She asked.

“Me? What are you- wait… Your mate. You did go talk to him that day.” I said with a bright smile.

Alison rolled her eyes, and crossed her arms.

“Yes, I did. You didn’t notice I wasn’t at school?” She asked.

“Uhhh, no sorry. ” I said with an awkward laugh. “So, now you live here huh?” I asked as I wiggled my eyebrows.

“Don’t start with that s**t Azai. What are you doing here?” She asked.

“Same as you. I’m here to see my mates.” I told her with a bright smile.

Alison’s face softened. “You met your mate?” She asked sweetly.

I smiled. “Yeah, at the very end of the ball.” I told her.

Alison gave me a bright smile.

“I am so happy for you Azai. You, out of all people, deserved it.”

“Thanks Alison.” I said my voice full of honesty.

“Wait, did you say mates?” She asked.

Just then someone walked into the room. A guy I haven’t seen before. He’s tall, about my height, with blonde hair, and hazel eyes. I smiled at him, but he didn’t return it. Instead, he slung his arm around Alison’s shoulders in a posessive way. I raised a brow at him.

“Who the f**k are you?” He asked rudely.

“Uhhh..” I trailed off.

“This is Azai. We attended Anderson together, but now he’s here.” Alison told him.

“You must be her mate.” I said with a smile. “I’d shake your hand but..” I trailed off as I gestured to my full hands.

When the guy just continued to glare at me Alison spoke up.

“Azai, this is my mate Elis.” She said.

“Nice to meet you.” I said with a bright smile.

Elis didn’t return it.

“Just how good of friends were you two at that school?” He asked.

Ut oh.

“Uhm, well, we never dated.” I said awkwardly.

Alison sputtered out laughter.

“Azai date someone? Okay.” She said sarcastically.

“What the f**k does that mean?” Elis asked her.

Alison looked up at her mate. “Don’t start. Neither of us were virgins when we met each other.” She told him.

Oh no.

Elis turned to me. “You f****d my mate?” He seethed.

His eyes started to turn red, and it reminded me of the time I saw Ozzy’s eyes do that. Gods, I miss him. Both of them.

“We had a three sum actually.” Alison told him.

My eyes snapped to hers.

“Why would you tell him that?” I squeaked out.

“She was supposed to lie?” Elis asked me.

“Well, no, but she could have waited until I was gone so you don’t kill me.” I said.

“Elis is not going to kill you.” Alison said it like it was the silliest thing imaginable.

“Ha… He looks like he’s going to kill me.” I said.

“I want to f*****g kill you.” Elis said.

I sighed. “Fury’s are super possessive huh?”

Elis didn’t react.

“What if I let you punch me in the face?” I asked.

“Come on Eli, you can’t be mad at Azai. He’s how I found out I like being tied up.” Alison said.

My eyes snapped to her again.

“Are you dumb?” I asked her.

Alison only shrugged to me.

“Don’t. f*****g. Call. My mate. Dumb.” Elis gritted out.

Sighing once again, I set my snacks down on the table next to me. When I turned back to Elis I braced myself. I have a feeling this is going to hurt just as bad as when Bexley hits me.

“Let me have it.” I said.

Alison’s eyebrows shot up. “What? No.”

Elis moved his arm from off of her, and stepped up to me.

“Eli, please don’t. It was in the past.” Alison said.

“He told me I could. Just stand back so you don’t get hit.” Elis told her.

“No really Eli, you don’t want to do this.” Alison begged.

The red in Elis’s eyes only grew. He thinks that Alison is trying to protect me. I doubt that’s true. Elis must not know I’m a Morningstar. That’s what this is about.

“Alison it’s fine. I promise.” I turned to give her a hard stare.

“Fine.” She said as she threw her hands up.

Elis squared his shoulders. I watched as he wound his arm back. Then I felt it. Right to my f*****g l*p. I barely stumbled from my feet, but I could feel the b***d trickle.

I chuckled. “That was a good hit. You should try throwing your whole body into it though. You’re only using your upper body strength.” I told him.

“You want more?” Elis asked.

“I mean no, but I-“

I was interrupted by another hit to my jaw this time. That hit was much better than his last. I even actually stumbled back a few steps.

“Yeah, like that.” I said.

“You want more?” Elis asked.

I put my hands out in front of me.

“No, no I do not. I’m sorry that I slept with your mate.” I rushed out.

Elis is so angry that his entire body is shaking. Alison wrapped her arms around his waist from behind him. I watched as his entire body relaxed. That’s adorable.

“Can we be even now?” I asked.

Elis scoffed.

“What’s going on in here?” Evie asked as she walked into the room.

Elis didn’t take his eyes off of me. Evie looked between the three of us, and crossed her arms. I gathered up my snacks, and smiled to her.

“Alison and I just ran into each other. We used to go to Anderson together. She was just introducing me to her mate.” I said politely.

“Mhm, and the bloody l*p happened how?” Evie asked.

“Uh, well, it was my fault.” I said with a chuckle.

“I hit him.” Elis stated before stomping out of the room.

“Sorry.” Alison whispered before going off after him.

I turned a smile to Evie.

“I’m so happy that Alison met her mate, and what a man, am I right?” I said cheerfully.

Evie smiled, and shook her head.

“Don’t keep getting into fights.”

She then turned on her heel. I followed after her. Evie and BIlly lead me back to my room. They told me that they would send someone to come to my room in the morning to walk me to class. Though, they said they couldn’t promise it would be one of my mates. I guess that was okay.

I was going to see them regardless.

I was in the middle of putting my clothes away when someone knocked on my door. Who could that possibly be? Maybe it’s Alison here to apologize.

I walked over to the door.

“Look Alison, if that’s you, your mate better be with you.” I swung the door open. “The last thing I need is for him to think there’s more goi-“

My words died in my throat as I took in the person standing just outside my bedroom door.

“H-hey.” He said.

“O-Ozzy?”
