Rejected -
Epilogue
Nadia
It has been almost two months since we defeated the enchantress and things back at the pack have been running rather smoothly. Every one of the wolves we rescued chose to come back with us, even Barsali and his group. They all came with their families and have helped to keep me sane while we all work to build ore housing for the new pack members. Several of the people we rescued had already lost their families, but one stood out to us most. When we were getting the names of the survivors and trying to help them replace their families, one of the young girls, a wolf names Lilian who is only thirteen years old, had been carrying an infant that belonged to one of the women who had been killed when her husband failed the task he was given by the sorceress. Liam and I took the infant to the daycare to be looked over, but after spending several days with him, we brought him home with us and decided we needed to bring Lilian too. His name is Jackson and though he doesn’t understand it yet, he was the answer to so many unspoken prayers.
Liam and I had our official mating ceremony a few days after we returned and we were blown away by the turn out. It has been one hell of a ride, that is for sure. Who could expect to go from being rejected, to unconditionally loved? The goddess had said that I the threads of fate had been restored, that they could not undo the damage that had already been done. At first, I believed that meant we were back to how things were originally meant to be, my either being alone or being an heirless mate. It seems Selene had a few tricks up her sleeve. Jackson and Lilian will be welcoming a brother or sister in the next six months. It seems that fate truly isn’t as unkind as I had once believed.
While life is far from perfect, it is more than I could ever have hoped for. I have the love of a man who understands me better than I understand myself. I have a family that is perfectly imperfect and I no longer feel lost and alone. To think, my entire happily ever after began the moment I was rejected.
