Crystal Hotel.

Just like its name suggested, the hotel was dazzling to the eye.

Annie was very excited when she got to see the interior of the hotel. She used her little hands to feel everything, and then stared at her reflection on the floor in awe.

"Mom, this place is so pretty. Is it a palace made of mirrors?"

Katie felt a pang of bitterness. It was all her fault for being incapable and too poor, never bringing her daughter to such a place. This made her daughter curious and amazed by everything around. Adam asked, squatting down, "Does Annie like it?"

"Yes, Annie likes it a lot."

Adam gently patted the little girl's head. "If Annie likes it, we'll stay a few more days, until Annie doesn't like it anymore."

Annie's gem-like eyes instantly brightened. "Can we really? Dad, you're so good to Annie. Annie loves Dad." Smooch.

Annie gave Adam a kiss on the face.

Adam's heart bloomed instantly, happier than winning a billion dollars.

"Dad loves you too. Let's go eat first. After feeding this little greedy Annie, Dad will take you to an even more fun place." Adam carried Annie towards the restaurant.

The restaurant was on the third floor of the hotel, with a Chinese and a Western section conveniently facing each other.

Upon reaching the third floor, the sounds of music and revelry emanated from the Western restaurant, sounding like there was a party. Therefore, the family of three chose the Chinese restaurant. In the restaurant, Adam initially intended to order all the signature dishes, but he faced strong opposition from Katie.

Finally, they settled on four dishes and a soup, a combination of meat and vegetables.

"Dad, this meat tastes so delicious. You should try it..."

"Mom, this dish is for you."

Annie excitedly fed her parents while eating.

After a while, the little girl's belly was full, and she couldn't eat anymore.

Annie slid down from her seat and whispered to Katie, "Mom, the food today was really delicious. Annie needs to go to the bathroom."

Katie playfully pinched her daughter's cheek. "Little glutton, no more eating today, okay?"

Annie stuck her tongue out and giggled. "I know, Mom."

Katie stood up, ready to take her to the restroom.

A waitress immediately approached and asked, "Miss, do you need any help?"

Annie crisply replied, "Um, hello Miss. I need to go to the restroom."

The waitress smiled, "Sure, little princess, may I accompany you?"

"Thank you, but I'll take her there." Katie politely refused.

However, Annie resisted, wriggling out and sliding to the floor. "Mom, I can go with the waiter. You stay and enjoy dinner with Dad." Then, facing Adam, Annie waved her small, pink fist. "Dad, go for it!"

Adam couldn't help but replace it amusing. This little girl intentionally created some alone time for him and Katie. She was quite cunning.

Annie pulled the waitress towards the restroom, leaving an awkward atmosphere at the dining table.

The originally harmonious family of three suddenly became a man and a woman having a candlelit dinner. Without the lively and atmospheric little spirit, a unique atmosphere quietly spread. "Katie, if I have a lot of money and can give you and our daughter the best life, would you be willing to give up your current job?" Adam tentatively asked.

He was probing whether Katie would leave the Hartley's family.

Katie was slightly stunned and asked back, "Do you want me to be a full-time housewife?"

After a moment's pause, Katie shook her head. "That's not the life I want."

Adam sighed inwardly and was about to continue speaking when suddenly a loud shout came from the entrance.

"Whose wild child is this? No parents to discipline her, huh? If no one wants her, I'll throw her out."

"Dad, Mom..."

Annie's voice was filled with anxiety.

Adam was immediately on his feet, rushing to the entrance of the restaurant.

At the door, a burly man in black held Annie by her ankle, swinging her in the air like a leaf.

Suddenly...

Wow.

Annie opened her small mouth, and all the food she had just eaten was vomited out. The soup and rice splattered onto the black-clad strong man's trousers and shoes. "What the hell, are you trying to die?"

The strong man cursed loudly, released his grip with a look of disgust, and took a step back

Annie landed on the ground with a thud, covered in soup and rice.

"Ah..." Annie screamed in pain.

"Annie."

Adam's killing intent erupted, rushing forward instantly.

Getting close, Adam swiftly picked up Annie and held her in his arms, using his hand to wipe away the dirt on her face.

"Does it hurt?" Adam asked with concern.

Annie pouted, her eyes teary, nodding slightly.

"Boohoo... Dad..."

Annie sobbed on Adam's shoulder, feeling wronged.

"Annie,are you okay? Dad is here, don't cry, don't cry." Adam trembled with heartache, wiping away Annie's tears while looking at the black-clad strong man in front of him. His eyes were like looking at a dead man!

At this moment, Katie also hurried over, squatting down, anxiously checking up and down, "Where did you hurt? Does it hurt? Did you cause trouble again?"

"Mom, I'm, I'm sorry. I didn't go in. I just wanted to lie down, lie down at the door and watch..." Annie choked out her words.

Katie was stunned, "Just lying at the door and watching?"

"Hoo, um... I'm sorry, Mom. I, I won't trouble you anymore in the future. Annie will be good, very good..." Annie turned around and hugged Katie, tears flowing uncontrollably. Katie's heart ached as if it was breaking.

Adam was even more devastated.

"Are you the parents of this little beggar? What's wrong with you? Can't you take care of your own child? Did you know she almost caused a lot of trouble?"barked the man in a black suit. Adam handed Annie to Katie, stood up slowly, and asked in a cold voice, "Is what she said true?"

The strong man paused, frowned, and said, "So what if it is? Miss Smith today..."

Boom!

A loud noise suddenly interrupted the words of the strong man. He was sent flying again, and the next moment, Adam appeared in front of him once more.

Boom, boom, boom!

The third kick sent the strong man flying, crashing through the glass door and flying inside.

The lively atmosphere in the hall abruptly quieted down, and everyone turned their heads to look. Adam walked into the hall with a cold face, approached the black-clad strong man, and raised his right foot before slamming it down. Crack.

The floor trembled, and the entire building seemed to shake. Underneath, the black-clad strong man let out an extremely miserable scream. His right wrist sank into the floor, creating a pit, and cracks spread like a spider web around it. The sudden scene shocked everyone in the hall. The music stopped, and all eyes were astonishedly fixed on Adam.

One second, two seconds...

A deathly silence fell over the hall.

Suddenly, a woman's scream rang out, "Katie? What are you doing here?"

Katie was taken aback, surprised, "Matilda? Dad, Grandpa... What are you doing here?"
