Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 20
"Mr. Booker?" Donald cried out, his face filled with terror.
Jake, too, was stunned, asking in bewilderment, "Mr. Booker, what brings you here?"
Amelia and Paul wanted to greet him as well, but the sheer aura of Paul Booker was so intimidating that they didn't dare to utter a word.
Is this the uncrowned king of the underground world of Lisle City?
His presence is overwhelming!!!
While everyone was still in shock, Paul Booker slapped Jake across the face, bellowing, "Useless!"
The slap was powerful and heavy, splitting Jake's lip and causing blood to flow. Yet, Jake didn't dare to move an inch.
Everyone trembled at the sight of the slap.
"Mr... Mr. Booker... today's incident isn't Jake's fault. They were the ones causing trouble. The one who was ordering you around on the phone just now was him!" Amelia stammered, pleading for Jake.
In her view, Paul Booker's furious arrival must have been triggered by Adam's orders during the phone call.
Who is Paul Booker?
In the whole City, who dares to order him around?
Thus, it must have been Adam's insolence that infuriated Paul Booker.
Upon hearing Amelia's words, others also started to piece things together.
Right, that makes sense.
A son-in-law, a nobody, daring to order around Paul Booker? Isn't that like peeing on Booker's head?
How could Paul Booker not be furious?!
Realizing this, everyone's faces lit up with an epiphany, and then their gazes towards Adam were like staring at a dead man.
Almost fooled by this nobody!
Now that he has thoroughly enraged Paul Booker, he's surely doomed, perhaps even to a fate worse than death!
"Mr. Booker, I share the blame for this mess. I couldn't stop this anybody, allowing him to ruin the engagement party and anger you. I'll have someone break his legs and throw him out right now," Paul said, stepping forward to apologize. Matilda also hurriedly interjected, "These two nobodies have nothing to do with our Hartley's family. Mr. Booker, you can kill or maim them, it's none of our business."
As the crowd spoke up, Paul Booker's face turned utterly grim.
"Shut up, all of you!"
"A bunch of idiots, how dare you disrespect Mr. Dragon?"
"Kneel and apologize to Mr. Dragon!"
Amelia immediately echoed, "Yes, kneel... wait a minute."
Amelia's voice abruptly stopped, her eyes widening in shock as she stared at Paul Booker, certain she had misheard.
Not just her, everyone thought they had misheard.
What did Paul Booker just say?
Kneel down and apologize to Adam?
Haha, how is that even possible!
They couldn't believe it, not in a million years!
"Mr. Booker, you must have misspoken, right? You meant for Adam to kneel, right?" someone suggested, thinking they were being smart.
But before the words were fully out, Jake, without any hesitation, knelt before Adam.
Thud, thud, thud.
Jake apologized while bowing, "I'm sorry, Mr. Dragon, it was my ignorance that offended you. However you choose to punish me, I accept it." Amelia: "......"
Matilda: ""
......
Everyone: "......"
Silence fell once more!
Everyone's eyes widened in disbelief as they stared at Jake, trembling as if struck by lightning.
Jake knelt down?
Jake apologized?
So, Paul Booker didn't misspeak?
Paul Booker was indeed asking all of them to kneel before Adam?
This must be a dream!
Just when everyone thought it was all surreal, another loud thud echoed.
Thump!
Paul Booker himself kneeled down with a thud.
"Mr. Dragon, I'm sorry, it was my failure to discipline properly. However you choose to punish me, I accept it!"
At that moment, everyone was utterly shocked.
Shock quickly turned to terror, and terror turned to absolute dismay!
They couldn't believe their eyes, even Paul Booker had knelt down!
They came today, drawn by the reputation of Paul Booker, but now, their godlike figure, Paul Booker, was kneeling before Adam, the very person they mocked and humiliated? Who then, is the true god?
Then, Adam finally spoke, "This has nothing to do with you. They hurt my daughter, and all I want is for them to apologize to her!"
Hearing this, Paul Booker turned and roared, "What are you all standing there for? Didn't you hear Mr. Dragon? Kneel down and apologize to Mr. Dragon, now!" But...
The crowd was reluctant!
Kneeling to a nobody, wouldn't that be a slap in their own faces?
Paul, despite his inner turmoil and shock, stepped forward to plead, "Mr. Booker, these people are here for the engagement party. It's not appropriate to ask them to apologize. How about I apologize on their behalf to Mr. Dragon?" Paul Booker slapped Paul across the face, fuming, "What engagement? Can't you understand what I'm saying?"
"Today I lay it down here, no one is exempt. If anyone dares not to kneel, don't blame me, Paul Booker, for settling scores later!"
"Mr. Dragon is magnanimous, but I, Paul Booker, am not!"
In that moment, Paul Booker showed the ruthlessness that made him the uncrowned king of Lisle City's underworld!
Seeing Paul Booker's genuine fury, everyone finally felt true fear.
One second, two seconds...
Thump!
Finally, someone couldn't stand the pressure anymore and knelt down.
"Mr. Dragon, I'm sorry, it was my fault."
Once one person kneeled, others, swallowing their pride, followed suit.
In a short time, two-thirds of the people in the hall knelt down, apologizing in unison, "Mr. Dragon, we're sorry, it was our fault."
Adam, with a cold expression, turned his gaze towards Dave!
Dave's face turned beet red, trembling as he leaned on his cane.
To kneel or not to kneel?
That was the question!
