Return Of The Prodigy -
Return of the Prodigy Chapter 3
The members of the Hartley family were eagerly anticipating, hoping that Allen would arrest Adam and, ideally, that the entire family would be sentenced.
Allen suddenly spoke, "I am here to award Mr. Drake and present him with a certificate of valor."
"Yes, arrest him, sentence him..."
What?
The Hartley family was stunned!
"Did I hear correctly? Give him an award?"
"Mr. Allen, are you mistaken? He's just mentally ill, how could he have acted valiantly?"
"Um, um..." Matilda anxiously protested.
"Hmm?"
Allen furrowed his brow, "Are you saying I have poor eyesight, can't recognize people? Or are you implying that our law enforcement officers are all useless? Can't even get a bravery award right?" "Mr. Allen, I didn't..." Terry hurriedly explained.
Dave walked over angrily, interrupting, "If you can't speak properly, shut your dog mouth, you damn thing, get out."
Terry's face turned dark as he retreated to the side.
"Mr. Allen, please, have a seat."
"No need, I'll leave after presenting Mr. Drake's award. Bring it up."
Two security personnel immediately walked up, presenting the certificate and banner.
Allen put on a smile, shook hands with Adam, and then handed the certificate to him. Swish.
Allen and the four security personnel saluted simultaneously.
Adam returned the salute, already guessing that this was arranged by the Black Dragon.
The Hartley family was even more confused. What's going on? Could this lunatic have acted valiantly?
Allen completely ignored the expressions of the Hartley family, smiling as he asked, "Mr. Drake, would you like a ride home? I happen to be going in that direction."
"No, he can't go, he must pay for hitting the goose!" Matilda mumbled unclearly.
"Hmm?" Allen furrowed his brow again, his voice angry as he called out directly, "Dave, your family's manners have improved."
Dave blushed, and turned to scold Matilda, "Get out, still not embarrassed enough?"
"Eh...let's not embarrass Mr. Allen, Mr. Allen, let me escort you."
Allen snorted heavily, and turned to face Adam, "Mr. Drake, please."
Adam nodded.
The Hartley family stared dumbfounded, watching as Adam and his family left peacefully, infuriated but helpless.
After a while, the other guests also left.
...
In the central hospital of Lisle City, Matilda lay on the hospital bed, undergoing examination and treatment. She was seething with anger, grinding her teeth, and looking fierce. After receiving a painkiller injection, she spoke more clearly.
"Peter, usually you are the most resourceful. You must help me figure out a way. We can't let them off, I want to ruin their reputation."
Standing across from her was a man dressed in a suit, appearing refined, but with an extremely sinister gaze.
He was Peter Hartley, the eldest son of Terry.
Peter licked his lips, exuding a vicious aura, "Did you forget that bitch is still working at the company? We have plenty of opportunities to deal with her."
A bright light suddenly burst in Matilda's eyes, "Right, fire her, let their whole family suffer, I'll call her right now."
Peter chuckled, shaking his head, "What's the point of just firing her directly? Isn't that too easy for those useless people? Call Trey and let them know their mentally ill son-in-law is back... Hum, I think they'll be very pleased."
Matilda was stunned, scenes of Trey and his wife pointing fingers and scolding Adam flashed in her mind.
"Yes, let them fight among themselves first, and then we'll step in to clean them up. Well done, Sir."
Ring ring~
The phone was quickly answered, a fawning and nauseating voice coming through.
"Matilda, is there something urgent about calling so late?"
"Humph, dare you ask me? It's your granddaughter causing trouble, not apologizing after pushing my son, and even daring to publicly assault someone in the Hartley family. By the way... I haven't congratulated you yet, your mentally ill son-in-law is back, quite impressive, let him take care of you from now on, you have no relationship with the Hartley family anymore." Matilda sneered.
"What?" A surprised exclamation came from the other end of the phone.
"Matilda, don't be hasty, don't be angry, what exactly happened? There must be a misunderstanding. I'll go replace Katie now and ask her to apologize to you."
"Apology? Do you think a simple apology will suffice? Tell Katie that before 10 a.m. tomorrow, she and her family must kneel in front of the company gate and beg for my forgiveness. Otherwise, she doesn't need to come to work anymore, and your whole family will be kicked out."
"Alright, alright, Matilda, calm down. I will make sure they do as you say."
"Humph, a bunch of useless people!"
Matilda hung up the phone, her eyes flashing with a snake-like coldness.
Katie, Adam... I want your whole family to kneel and kowtow in front of the entire company, embarrassing yourselves!
I want you to live the rest of your lives with your heads held low in shame!
This is the cost of resistance!
"Oh, be gentle... go quickly and replace me the best, most expensive dentist..."
...
Crossing through the bustling city center, they arrived at the southern outskirts.
The southern district was one of Lisle's oldest districts. It was dirty, with terrible roads and no shortage of hoodlums. However, the rent was very low.
Thanking Mr. Allen for his kindness, Katie led Adam to a neighborhood with old and worn-out buildings.
Adam frowned.
Adam followed behind, frowning involuntarily.
Have they been living in a place like this for the past six years?
However, fifteen minutes later, Katie walked through the complex, entered a deserted and pitch-black park, stopped at the public restroom, and pulled out a key from her bag to open a small iron door behind the restroom.
Creak-
The iron door issued a grating sound as it opened, chasing away all the stray dogs that were looking for food in the surroundings. Katie turned on the light, and a small room with a floor space of less than ten square meters appeared before their eyes.
The room was a mess, with miscellaneous objects scattered here and there. In one corner was a small bunk bed, a cardboard box placed next to it. On the cardboard box were a glass of water, toothbrushes, and other toiletries.
There was a sudden gust of wind, and a foul odor pervaded the room. However, neither Katie nor Annie reacted to it. It seemed they were already used to it.
Adam was rooted to the spot, unable to make sense of the scene before his eyes.
Just a moment ago, he thought that Katie and her daughter had already endured great hardships living in a dirty, dilapidated neighborhood. After all, the Hartley family was a top-notch aristocratic family in the City, with hundreds of properties under their name. At the very least, they shouldn't be without a place to live.
But the reality was...
They didn't have one!
Like those stray dogs just now, they were hiding in this smelly, dark corner, surviving on their own!
A public restroom!
The Hartley family made them live in a public restroom!
The Hartley family was so ruthless!
A surge of frustration rushed to Adam's head, and he spat out a stream of blood!
"Daddy..." Annie was startled, rushing over.
Katie also hurriedly asked, "Are you okay?"
Adam's eyes were bloodshot, and hot tears streamed down.
A man's tears are not easily shed, only when he reaches the depths of despair!
Just at that moment-
"Lunatic! The audacity! How dare you come back! What are you back for? Are you not satisfied with how our family has suffered because of you?"
A furious shout suddenly rang out, and a figure quickly rushed forward, picking up a wooden stick and smashing it down.
Bang.
