Return Of The Real Heiress: Secrets And Masks -
My Billionaire Family 156
Chapter 156
Cherise let herself be led by Morris, shedding the earlier fierceness of her independent actions.
Downstairs, Crow had waited for thirty minutes in the first-floor stairwell without catching a glimpse of Cherise. Though he knew her capabilities, a nagging worry lingered in his heart.
Bursting through the door, he fortuitously encountered a group of black-clad bodyguards searching for someone. Darrow, at the front, immediately called out, "Halt!" upon seeing Crow in workshop attire.
Crow paused, glancing back to see more bodyguards closing in, alarm bells ringing in his mind.
Crow flashed a cheerful smile at Darrow. "Ah, I forgot my phone! I just ran back to grab it."
As he spoke, he pulled his phone from his pocket, giving it a shake. "I'll be on my way now!"
With that, he turned to leave.
Darrow removed his sunglasses and discreetly gestured to the four men blocking the exit to impede Crow's escape.
Feigning confusion, Crow asked, "What's going on here?"
Darrow shouted, "Capture him!"
Crow found himself gripped firmly by the shoulders.
Puzzled, he exclaimed, "Wait, what does this mean?"
Darrow approached menacingly. "The chemical plant explicitly prohibits phones. All employees know this from the start. Unless you're not one of us."
Crow retorted, "I assure you, I am! I just started work this morning."
But Darrow remained steadfast, a cunning smile curling at his lips.
Realizing the precariousness of his situation, Crow's heart sank as he scanned for an escape route, eyeing a nearby step stool.
In the next moment, a fierce glint sparkled in his eyes. He delivered a swift kick and used his elbow to break free from both guards.
Instantly, chaos erupted as Crow fought his way through the crowd, expertly dodging their attempts to grab him.
He dashed toward the step stool in the courtyard, leaping onto it with all his strength to vault up to the second floor.
Darrow bellowed furiously, "After him! Notify every bodyguard in the plant to block all exits; do not let a man in a white uniform with a big black mole on his face escape!"
In an instant, hundreds of black-clad guards surged from the chemical plant, scattering to search for Crow.
The facility featured four staircases. Crow had spent the day memorizing the layout.
Rushing toward the southern staircase, he was met immediately with footsteps ascending.
He pivoted and sprinted to the western staircase, only to realize that heavy footsteps were right behind him again.
With a resigned breath, Crow spotted a nearby door and quickly slipped inside.

Chapter 156
Upon entering, he collided with Leo, who was about to exit, sending both sprawling to the floor, with Crow landing heavily on Leo.
As Leo opened his mouth to curse, Crow covered it with his hand. "Shh! Let's keep quiet for now" Footsteps thundered past outside.
Sensing Crow's presence, Leo quickly recognized him as the man with the mole he had seen that morning.
Disconcerted but unable to speak, Leo could only emit muffled sounds.
Once the footsteps faded into the distance, Crow finally released his grip on Leo's mouth.
When he caught sight of the woman pinned beneath him, his face flushed crimson.
Leaping to his feet, he pulled Leo up, but before he could speak Leo scolded him, "You perv!" Crow quickly shot back, "Hey, I didn't mean to!"
Rolling his eyes, Leo replied, "Were you being chased too? You're not from here, are you?"
Crow glanced at the woman before him, recognizing her as the robust figure he had seen in the restroom earlier that day. He instinctively stepped back. "How did you know?" Leo said, "I'm not one of them either. I heard the footsteps and just hid here."
Crow nodded in understanding. "Something is amiss at this chemical plant."
"Absolutely!" Leo agreed, peering through the crack of the door. "You should escape while you can. I have to wait for my boss."
Crow felt a rush of gratitude; it was unexpected to replace companionship in such a dire moment, especially from a woman. "I'm in no rush; I need to wait for my boss too."
Leo turned to look at him. "Then let's go together!"
Crow nodded, and the two cautiously made their way out.
