Chapter 183

Yulia, seated a few tables away, noticed everyone's gaze and, curious, looked in the same direction.

When she saw Morris, her eyes widened in surprise. "It's him, she muttered.

Overhearing the murmurs around her, she gathered that he was the renowned Morris Chivers, owner of the Chivers Group.

With a faint smile, she simply picked up the glass of water from se table and took a sip.

In the dressing room, Cherise zipped up Shirley's dress, just as Mundly walked in with two glasses of juice.

She said, "Cherise, thank you for your help. I lave some juice. Shirley, you too."

When Cherise saw Mandy enter, she merely gave a mocking smile without saying a word.

Shirley handed a glass of juice to Cherise and said, "Cherise, you must be thirsty. Here, have some juice to quench your thirst. The food and drinks might take a while to be served."

Cherise nodded slightly and took the juice Shirley offered.

She sniffed it, showed no reaction, and downed it in one go.

Then she said, "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."

Shirley and Mandy had watched her finish the juice, so they let her leave.

As the dressing room door closed behind Cherise, Shirley and Mandy exchanged a triumphant smile.

Mandy said with a sinister smile, "Although Morris's arrival messed up our plans and we didn't get to use the people your uncle arranged, that juice should still be enough to make her embarrass herself. Im sure Morris will be repulsed by her soon enough."

Meanwhile, when Cherise returned to the banquet hall, the engagement ceremony was just about to start. The lights dimmed, and only a large screen continued to play.

The hall was enormous, but under the guidance of the waitstaff, Cherise soon reached the seat next to Morris. Smelling the familiar scent as she approached, Morris rose and gently helped her into her seat. "They didn't make things difficult for you, did they?" he asked softly.

Cherise shook her head.

The next second, the music started, and all the lights came on.

As the hall lit up, many noticed the stunning woman beside Morris. However, with Morris's protective gaze, no one dared to stare at them.

With the music stopping, Henry stepped onto the stage to give a speech.

"Thank you to all our distinguished guests for attending to witness the engagement of my son, Jeffrey, and Shirley from the Leach family. Let's give the stage to them!"

As Henry finished speaking, the doors at the back opened, and Shirley, now dressed in a red gown, entered arm-in-arm with Jeffrey, making hier way to the center platform. Chapter 183

As she passed Cherise, Shirley gave her a sprick look, her smile widening as she gauged the time

Jeffrey offered a few polite words to the guests before exchanging rings with Shirley, signaling the completion of the

ceremony.

In Clusia, once a woman's engagement ceremony concludes, there's virtually no turning back, breaking it off means she might never many again.

With the engagement done, Shirley smiled and scanned the audience, finally resting her gaze on Oliver.

Taking the microphone from Jeffrey, she said gently, "Thank you, everyone, for your kind blessings.

"Apart from my father, the most respected person in my life is my grandfather.

Just before the ceremony, he mentioned he'd like to present us with a gift on the stage. Cherise, my dear sister, could you please help Grandpa onto the stage?" Everyone began murmuring, speculating on the precious gift that Oliver might give to Shirley and Jeffrey

Yulia was momentarily sunned when she heard the name Cherise.

She refrained from looking around due to etiquette.

Meanwhile, Cherise stayed seated, silent.

After a moment, she let out a mocking laugh, glanced at Morris, and slowly rose, walking at an unhurried pace to her grandfather's side.

The crowd's gaze followed her graceful movements.

Cherise leaned down and whispered something to Oliver, and he stood slowly with her support.

This surprised everyone, including Shirley on stage and the rest of the Leach family members.

Nearly everyone in Betrico knew Oliver had fallen down the stairs a few years ago and injured his leg, with even Betrico Hospital unable to heal him. Yet here he was, standing again all of a sudden. "Honey, what's going on with Oliver? How is he..." Mandy whispered to Jacob.

Jacob shook his head, indicating he didn't know either, but his gaze stayed fixed on Cherise.

Amid the crowd's confused gazes, Cherise supported Oliver with one arm as she helped him onto the stage.

As the two reached the center of the stage, the audience, who hadn't seen Cherise's face earlier, now saw her clearly on the big screen.

A collective gasp filled the hall.

Without a doubt, Cherise's entrance once again stunned the crowd.

Yulia looked towards the stage. When she saw the face on the screen, her hand slipped, and the glass she was holding tightly clattered onto the table.

Fortunately, everyone's attention was focused on the stage, and no one noticed her.

Yulia thought to herself, 'She is Cherise? Why does she look so much like the woman in the photo from our family's study? Forgetting all about poise and etiquette, Yulia turned to search for Jason. 08:28 Mon, Dec 9 AG

When she spotted him, she saw he was slightly smiling, his eyes fixed on Cherise on the stage.

An unfamiliar suspicion began to grow within her.
