Chapter 503

The moment the hospital door closed behind her, Stella seemned to snap out of her thoughts, only to fall into a new round of contemplation.

Feeling weighed down, Stella returned to her car, but she didn't art the engine right away. Instead, she took out her phone and dialed a number.

As soon as the call connected, Stella's anxious expression immediately softened into a warm smile. Her voice became light and gentle as she spoke. "Macy, it's me, Stella. I'm back.

"I just went for my pre-employment check-up at your hospital and figured you were probably busy, so I didn't go to bother you. But there's a small matter I need your help with. Do you have a moment?" Macy Lorcan was the head of the inpatient department at Betrico Hospital, and one of Stella's close friends.

Upon hearing Stella's request, Macy immediately responded. "Of course! It's my honor to help. Go ahead. I'm listening."

At that, Stella smiled softly before speaking. "It's actually nothing major. I ran into an acquaintance in the Specialized Pediatric Ward on the third floor. It seems like her student, or someone close to her, is sick.

"I'm not sure what happened, and I didn't want to ask directly, in case it touched on something sensitive. So I was hoping you could help me get some details. If they need assistance, I can lend a hand."

Macy responded. "Stella, you're still as kind-hearted as ever. This is easy. Don't hang up. Let me check it out. The computer is right in front of me, I'll have an answer in a minute."

Stella expressed her gratitude, and sure enough, just a few minutes later, Macy spoke up. "Stella, the girl in the Specialized Pediatric Ward is a young child with Type 1 diabetes.

"According to the records, her address is listed as Charity Orphanage. I just asked my colleague, and it turns out that all the medical fees are being covered by the professor Ms. Leach from Betrico University."

Stella's brow furrowed slightly upon hearing this. "Oh, Charity Orphanage, a little girl... I just saw Ms. Leach. How is she involved with the orphanage?"

Macy replied, "My colleague said that Ms. Leach's student is from the orphanage. The student asked her to look after the little girl and even the hospital director has been involved in this.

Once the call ended, Macy's words kept echoing in Stella's mind, and the questions only seemed to pile up.

The student mentioned by Macy must have been the boy Stella had seen earlier with Cherise. Cherise herself had just said that she was with her student.

'Charity Orphanage? A student? The profile... The jawline... How can they look so alike? It's almost like a spitting image of him when he was young... Stella thought to herself.

If it were anyone else, they might not have noticed, but not Stella. She could clearly remember the approximate position of the mole on his jawline from his profile.

Stella shook her head, muttering to herself. "No, Mrs. Jarrett said all these years that Arthur has been alone, never even seen with a girlfriend. Could it be a secret relationship? But then, why would this child be from the orphanage?" As she thought, Stella gripped the steering wheel tightly, unease starting to show on her face again. She quickly unlocked her phone and dialed another number.

This call didn't connect as quickly as the last one. It rang for a long while before finally being answered. "Hello, Stella? What's up? I heard from Dad that you're back and that you're starting work at the Translation Bureau tomorrow."

Chapter 303

"I knew it. Wherever you go, you're bound to shine." The voice of the other end was Tristan's, her older brother.

Stella chuckled when she heard his voice. "Hello, Tristan. I've been back for a few days, but I haven't had the chance to catch up h you yet. You're such a busy guy."

Tristan laughed lightly. "It's all for Clusia. I've gotten used to it. So what's going on? Did you call just to catch up?"

"No," Stella replied directly.

There was a brief pause on the other end. "So, it's about Arthur, ght? As your brother, I'm pretty much in the know, aren't I? What's the deal? After all these years, you're still hung up on him" Stella bit her lip and took a deep breath. "No... It's indeed about Arthur. I just need to verify something with you."

Tristan sighed on the other end. "What's going on? You should've stayed in Clusia all those years ago. You might've had a chance at that time, but now... his situation's different. It's a bit tricky." Stella seemed to wince as she shook her head. "Don't say that, Tristan. I regret it. I still care about him... I always have.

"I just need to confirm something with you. Everything else, I know how to handle. I won't do anything that could jeopardize his situation."

Tristan sighed again. After all, he was her brother, and she had been the beloved little girl of the family for over forty years. "Alright, go ahead. What do you need to know?"

Stella tried to relax, letting out a slow breath. "You've worked with him for years and you're good friends, so I just want to ask...

"Has Arthur had a girlfriend, or is there someone he's interested in? Or maybe... has he had a child with anyone?"

Tristan laughed twice on the other end. "What are you talking about, Stella? All these years, I've only seen Arthur being single. Where's this child coming from?

"Have you been around those Hesperia folks too long, and picked up their weird culture? Are you starting to lose your sense of judgment?"

Stella seemed to relax a little, believing Tristan's words. She smiled again. "Alright, Tristan, I guess I was overthinking things I've just returned to Clusia, and I'm still adjusting. ""Just
