The only explanation was that the nine-tailed fox was the one messing with Xyla Quest...

Xyla immediately tried to switch on her phone.

However, it didn't work.

Xyla became even more panicked. She walked over to the nightstand and picked up the landline.

She was even more shocked when she put the receiver against her ear.

She couldn't hear any sound from the receiver.

Moreover, the phone didn't seem to respond at all.

It was like a toy phone that had run out of battery.

The phone was fine yesterday...

What else could it have been if not the nine-tailed fox's doing?

It was trapping Xyla here and stopping her from leaving. In fact, it wouldn't even let her contact anyone else. Was it going to punish her right there and then? Xyla felt even more scared when she thought about it.

Regardless of how calm she appeared on the outside, she was still afraid of dying.

Her survival instincts kicked in, and she began thinking quickly on her feet.

After glancing at the window, she decided to escape through it.

As the thought occurred to her, she hastily walked over to the window and tried to open it.

While she tried to open the window, she shouted at the security guards clearing snow in the courtyard. "Help..."

She repeatedly hit the glass window as she cried for help.

However, there seemed to be some sort of barrier between her and the outside.

Regardless of how loud she screamed, people outside couldn't hear her at all.

Some of the bodyguards would unintentionally look her way, but none seemed to have seen her.

They didn't respond to her at all.

In fact, they didn't even allow their gazes to linger upon her.

After that, Xyla ran over to other windows.

She started trying to open each of them, crying for help as she did so.

However, she realized it was the same each time.

From the bedroom to the bathroom, none of the windows could be opened. People outside couldn't seem to hear her voice or see her face.

Xyla felt as if she had been separated from the people outside in some way. Seemingly stuck in a different space, Xyla could see them, but not vice versa. Xyla knew that the nine-tailed fox must have cast some sort of spell.

Since none of her attempts worked, Xyla decided to give up.

That was because she couldn't replace any other way.

Xyla tried her best to suppress her feelings of fear and returned to the room...

She quickly looked around. After that, she clenched her fists tightly and retrieved a gun.

Xyla then cocked the gun and

pointed at the empty room. "I know it's you I also know you're here for revenge... Whatever it is you want to do, show yourself. Don't torture me like this," Xyla said.

Since she couldn't escape, Xyla decided to try fighting against her opponent instead.

An average human without powers couldn't possibly defeat a fox demon with powers.

Right then, it suddenly started snowing through the ceiling.

Xyla was stunned by what she saw.

Snowflakes fell onto the ground one by one in the end, they all turned into white fox fur... Coelongs

The scent of sandalwood in the air grew even stronger.
