Rewriting My Heart's Fate (Ethan and Evelyn) -
Chapter 349
Chapter 349
1/1
As the night deepened, the campus lights flickered on, casting long shadows of us in the glow.
I looked up at Ethan, whose eyes were filled with expectation and determination, stirring something within me.
Maybe I could give him a chance-and myself one too.
Looking into his eyes, I suddenly remembered why I had been so obsessed with him. Perhaps it was because my feelings for him had truly deepened.
Maybe love quietly took root without us even realizing it. Or, perhaps something in my heart caused me to feel deeply. By the time I realized it, those feelings had become very strong.
"Honestly, no matter what we talk about tonight, it won't lead to any conclusion. We're still young, still figuring out what we want.
"Maybe you feel indebted to me right now, which is why you have these thoughts. But you may not feel this way when you truly mature."
I couldn't look past the relationship between Leah and him. I knew he wasn't fully mature yet; despite appearing more capable than most people, his thinking was still quite simple.
"I just hope we can give each other space for now. You can focus on your studies, and I can focus on mine. We'll cross paths again when our goals have been achieved."
I feared he might cling to me further, and I might eventually relent. But it wasn't the right time to date at this point. I might not have overcome my previous fears, or perhaps I had lost the courage I once had.
But it definitely wasn't the right time now, which had left me feeling hesitant and wanting to avoid the situation.
"Is this what you really want? Are we not going any further than this?" Ethan's voice held a hint of unnoticeable disappointment, deepening the night's shadows.
He lowered his head slightly, his hair casting a shadow over his eyes, yet his persistence and tenderness remained undiminished.
I took a deep breath, trying to make my tone firm yet gentle. "I know our relationship is important to both of us, but sometimes giving each other space to grow is a better choice." I gently patted his shoulder, attempting to convey my resolve.
"I believe that when we both shine in our respective fields and meet again, we'll be better versions of ourselves. It won't be too late to reconsider our relationship if we still feel the other is indispensable in our lives by then."
Ethan fell silent for a moment, seemingly contemplating my words. Slowly, he raised his head, a new light sparkling in his eyes.
"You're right. I was too impulsive," he said. "I should respect your thoughts and focus on our personal growth. So, let's work hard together and meet again at the top." With that, he gave me an encouraging smile, warm and bright, as if it could dispel all the shadows. I returned his smile, feeling a surge of inexplicable strength within me. Perhaps this was the unknown power that brought me tranquility.
We quickly parted ways, and I went to meet Kevin. He had the materials I needed, and I wanted to address everything promptly to effectively build our brand together.
