"Are you sure?" Kevin frowned. His eyes were filled with concern.

He understood the risk and uneasiness behind the decision I had made, but he also respected my insistence in the pursuit of truth.

I nodded. I was determined. "Yes, I have to go back.

"I feel like all of these are pointing toward a bigger scheme behind things, and that Jack was just a pawn. I needed to replace out all of these for myself, not just for his assets, but for the questions I had in my heart as well."

Kevin sighed as he patted my shoulders. "Okay, I respect your decision. You have to be careful.

"The things you're investigating aren't something simple that may involve greater forces supporting all of these people. If you need help, let me know at any time."

I looked gratefully at him as warmth filled my heart.

In this complex, ever-changing world, it was rare to have a friend like him who would support you unconditionally.

After returning to the hotel, I started to pack my things up and prepare for my trip.

Before I left, I was contemplating if I should meet Ethan one last time.

He was sure to return to the Grayson residence now that he was back, but I didn't want anything to do with the Graysons.

Suddenly, I received a phone call from lan.

On the other end of the phone, lan's firm voice was laced with subtle gentleness and was different from his usual high-and-mighty, you-shall-not-cross-me attitude. "I heard you're about to leave soon, Ms. Wiley. There are some things that I feel like I need to tell you before you leave."

I was slightly stunned as I responded, "Please go ahead, Mr. Grayson Senior."

"This is about Ethan. His return is of a huge significance to the Grayson family, but I hope for you to understand as well, that he is true to you."

Ah, of course, this was about Ethan again.

"He had gone through a lot through

the years, and have grown a lot as well. Now, he is willing to change for you, and to me, this is a rare occasion." Ian's tone was laced with sincerity and hope, which was something I hadn't seen before in the two lives that I have lived.

I didn't know how to describe what I was feeling at that time. There was a dilemma regarding the complex relationship between Ethan and me,

bwas also surprised and moved

after hearing lan's words.

I was silent for a while before I replied, "I got it, Mr. Grayson Senior."

However, I have no time for relationships. There was something more important for me to do.

"But I have something of greater importance for me to do, and it's regarding my family matters and the unsolved riddles. As for Ethan and I, I think we would both need time to manage our thoughts."

lan seemed to have expected my answer as he sighed softly.

"Okay, Ms. Wiley. I respect your decision. I also have some clues so if you really need them, come see me."

He seemed to have known my

desires all along and had

deliberately baited me like this. Sadly, I was at my wit's end. If I had any other ways, I would choose to reject Tan's offer, but right now, I really needed that breakthrough.

I pondered for a moment before accepting lan's invitation.

I couldn't let go of any possible clues that could bring me closer to the truth.

Even if I hadn't resolved the emotional conflict between Ethan and me, I knew I needed to remain level-headed and calm.
