Richest Mogul 1301
Chapter 1301
Caleb was the kind of person who could always keep the atmosphere light. He and Simona were especially close friends, and Stephen had a knack for joining the conversation at the right
moments.
All three were in high spirits by the time the dinner ended. But when it came to paying the bill, Stephen didn’t make any move. Instead, Simona, almost out of habit, simply settled it herself.
It seemed like this wasn’t the first time it had happened. Caleb couldn’t help but discreetly study Stephen more closely.
Sensing Caleb’s gaze, Stephen quickly explained, ‘Simona insisted on bringing me here today. I didn’t want to dampen her spirits.”
Hearing this, Caleb smiled and said, “Oh, I see.”
After they left the restaurant, Stephen received an urgent phone call, so he promptly left. Simona looked a bit reluctant to see him go.
Noticing her expression, Caleb teased, “Looks like you really like him, huh?”
Simona turned her attention back to Caleb and didn’t bother hiding her feelings. “He’s my true love. I liked him from the moment I met him.”
“I didn’t expect you to be into that type,” Caleb said.
Stephen struck him as someone who was hiding his true self.
Simona rolled her eyes. “You wouldn’t understand since you’ve never had a girlfriend. I suggest you replace one soon and stop hoping for something with Skylar. There’s no chance between you two.”
Caleb’s expression faltered. “Why not? As long as it’s not over, there’s still a chance. Besides, I don’t like anyone else but her. I noticed you paid the bill just now. Is it always you paying when you two go out?”
Simona nodded. “You know me, I don’t care about those things. Money’s just a material thing. It’s like with you–neither of us is lacking in that department.”
What they both lacked was genuine love.
Caleb frowned. He hadn’t thought much of it before, but now he wondered if Aiken had kept Simona sheltered a tad too much. “Have you introduced him to Aiken yet?” he asked.
“Not yet. Maybe in a little while,” Simona replied. She thought she needed more time to consider things. She wasn’t ready yet.
Caleb narrowed his eyes. “As your friend, I’ll give you some advice–don’t give your heart too freely to any man. The more transparent you are with him. The more it can backfire on you.
You should probably bring him to meet Aiken sooner rather than later.”
Simona grew a bit impatient and waved her hand dismissively. “Alright, I get it. Since when did it become your job to lecture me? You don’t know Stephen. He’s honestly the best guy I’ve ever met. Now that you’ve had your free meal, why don’t you get lost?”
“Fine. But don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’ll regret it if you don’t think this through. I’m leaving now,” Caleb said, knowing there was no point in saying more. Simona wouldn’t listen
anyway.
Still, Caleb wasn’t too worried about Sioman being deceived. Aiken wasn’t someone who could easily be fooled. If Stephen weren’t as good as he seemed, he would just have to watch out when Aiken got involved.
That evening, Skylar received an international call from Steven.
“How have the past few days been? Is everything going smoothly?” Steven asked with
concern.
Skylar responded softly, “Yeah. Everything is going well. I met Joe and discussed some of my doubts. While he hasn’t regained his memory yet, I think he’s starting to question his current identity.”
“Good. I’ll be heading to Murida for a business trip soon, so I’ll stop by to see you and Mrs. Martin Senior. Now that you’ve found him and confirmed he’s Joe, there’s no rush. If you push too hard, it’ll only make him less likely to believe you. Take it slow, Skye. I’m sure he’ll remember everything eventually,” Steven said.
Skylar smiled and said, “Okay, I understand. By the way, has Maisy tried to visit Mom again? Are there any updates from the police?”
