Chapter 12
Sean & yells bounced off the villa walls. Dalton got his crew to take Ellen somewhere safe and clean As the mess. He figured after tonight’s show, everyone would think twice before messing with this place. Heading back inside, Dalton’s eyes caught someone peeking from upstairs. When their eyes. met, the figure bolted. “Call Mrs. Slater down,” he ordered out of the blue.
Nick was confused about what Dalton was up to but didn’t argue. “Mr. Slater, I just saw Mrs. Ellent Slater she said Sean-
Dalton shot Nick a look that froze him mid–sentence. Nick hustled to fetch her.
The second Alicia walked out, she got hit with this tasty blood smell that almost made her sick. She fought the urge to hurl, though. There was Dalton, parked in his wheelchair. The room’s soft light made him look all kinds of fine, not a single flaw. But Alicia couldn’t shake off how cold he felt, no normal human vibes at all–he was like the devil! She had peeped the whole thing from upstairs, and this guy, well, he was way scarier than she’d ever thought possible!
“Scared?” Dalton asked, a bit intrigued, and then changed his tune, “You wanted a front–row seat, right? Get a good look. I’ll make sure you see everything.”
Alicia’s heart skipped a beat and she backed up, shouting. “Dalton, you’re out of your mind! You summoned me to watch you whack people and ditch the evidence? Are you twisted?”
Dalton’s expression turned icy, almost deadly.
Alicia couldn’t hold it in anymore, she clamped a hand over her mouth, and dashed aside to puke. She managed to think, ‘Great, just what I think. What if Dalton gets suspicious? Talk about bad timing with this kid.
Then Dalton’s chilly voice hit her ears, “I’ve heard you did IVF, Alicia. You’re not actually pregnant- with my kid, are you?”
Alicia froze, and then shot back coldly, “As if! Dalton, get over yourself. I’d never have a kid with you!” The idea of his baby sent a shiver down her spine. Just thinking about it made her feel icy inside, right to her bones.
Dalton eyed Alicia as she stood there shaking. He had his suspicions, but one sharp warning cut through them. “Don’t even think about getting knocked up. And if you do, don’t expect to keep it.” His words were cold and disdainful.
Obviously, he couldn’t stand kids, and Alicia’s hand went to her stomach without thinking.
Dalton snapped, “Get out!” Alicia didn’t say a word and bolted.
Nick, looking worried, stepped up to Dalton with an update. “Mr. Slater, Mrs. Ellen Slater told Sean to ask for Mrs. Slater at the manor–it was all made up. She was stalling, said the shares were in Mrs. Slater’s name. Sp
wanted to set up the share transfer and didn’t suspect a thing… You’ve got
the wrong idea about Mrs. Slater.”

Dalton stayed quiet for a moment, and then said in ice, “Doesn’t matter. Get the divorce papers ready; it’s happening in a week. He’d held off before because of Ellen’s condition, but his patience.
had run out,
Mr. Slater, are you sure about the divorce? Nick ventured to ask.
Shooting him a glance, Dalton said, “You got an issue with that?”
Nick quickly answered. “No way, not at all.”
Sean was holed up in a grimy hostel, cockroaches everywhere, and a nasty smell coming from the
bathroom.
Glued to his phone, he was losing his mind. He roared to the other end of the line, “What do you mean? You’re ditching me just because I got kicked out of the Slater famil Iton isn’t dead–he’s pure evil! I need 30 million dollars, and I need it now, or I blab everything! rou pushed me to mess with Dalton! Get me out of this dump–have someone pick me up! You’re coming back? You do remember Dalton’s married, right? Ashley, you already dumped him once. Why would he want you
now?”
Whatever the person said next seemed to cool Sean down. “Fine, I’ll wait.” He compromised.
The next morning, Alicia booked an early doctor’s visit. Trying to avoid Dalton, she got up way before the sun to play it safe.
Lillian saw her and said all chipper, “Up with the birds, Mrs. Slater. Mr. Slater’s eating breakfast; why not join him?”
‘Dalton is up already?‘ With that thought, Alicia almost said no, not wanting to run into him when Dalton came out of the dining room. They were face–to–face, and Alicia just froze.
Dalton walked right by her without a look. “Have those papers ready. We’re done in a week,” he said, nonchalantly.
