Sacred Lands
Jun's Chapter

The wind blew and tussled her dark red mahogany fur coat as she flew. This journey was terrifying, yet so exciting. She had never really ventured further than the land’s barrier limits, she would sneak around the human territory, to observe, but never this far out, going to a new land wasn’t something she was accustomed to, but her excitement made her get over it rather quickly.

She knew at some point she was going to have to rest, but she was fine for now, she let the wind guide her until she needed to slightly shift so she was following the scent correctly.

All she could see below her was the open ocean and on occasion, she would see little fishing boats, or ships in the ocean, even with how high she was in the air. She flew through the clouds, making patterns as she flew through, she pretended to race one of her many siblings as she zoomed through the sky.

She realized she was getting closer to her destination when she saw white something that settled together and form a kind of white blanket over everything. Everything had a sheet of white over it. Jun flew down to go play in the white blanket and when she came back up from the cold blanket and shook off the cold wetness on her fur coat.

She licked the snow, shivering at the coldness, before jumping and making it like she was a fox jumping in the snow. She shook her body once more and flew up into the air once more.

She continued to follow the scent and reached a big orange reddish house. There was a tower looking portion and a large backyard with things placed around. On the porch, Jun noticed two figures crying and rocking on wooden chairs, Jun flew closer to inspect.

“I knew I should’ve never told her all the stories of those stupid lands! Why did we read her those stories? It’s entirely my fault. I pushed her. She could've been a teacher, aritech, hell a lawyer! I just miss her.” the male said as he sobbed out and the woman beside him held him closely.

“It was Faye’s decision, she was always just like her mother I’m not surprised if we didn't push her, she would've gone ahead and done it anyway. I know deep down Faye isn’t gone. I just need a sign. I don’t want - I can't - I'm not ready to let go yet or at all.” the woman said faltering in the end, and Jun could feel tears gathering in her eyes.

I see why Faye was so worried. Her grandparents really miss her, they think she’s dead. Her grandmother did ask for a sign. Jun thought before letting the letter drop in between the older couple. They pulled away from their embrace to pick up the paper before them.

The grandmother looked at the paper then at the sky before opening the folded paper and more tears gathered in her eyes before looking at her husband.

“Erick! Look! This is the sign I was waiting for! This is from Faye! Read it!” Faye’s grandmother excitedly shouted shoving the paper into his hands.

“Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

I’d like to start off by saying, I’m not dead! I’m sorry, but that needed to be said.

I’ve found my ending like I’ve always wanted. I’m safe and happy, the sacred land from Mom’s book is real and I’ve found it, don’t worry though I’m safe and happy! I miss you both so so so so much but I cannot leave to come back and see you, I’m sorry but that’s how it must be.

My partner and I have found a way for us to talk to each other, you just have to trust me. We write letters to each other and our friend picks up and drops off the letters we have for one another. I know it’ll never be the same as seeing each other, but it’s something right?

I know you guys must be worried, heartbroken, and confused. That’s completely understandable and I’m sorry. I’ve been thinking about you guys for the past several months that I have been here. I love my partner and where I’m at, maybe one day you guys could come and stay with us.

You can write a letter I would get it in no time and vice versa. We could talk every day like I never even left, but I know it’s not the same, but give it a try Grandma and Grandpa. I love and miss you both so dearly. Please write soon (I know I have no place to rush you or anything, but I truly am excited to have the chance to talk to you guys again) if you can.

Love from a not dead,

Faye”

“Erick where are your notebooks and pencils?” The elder woman asked as they both looked at each with teary eyes.

“In my study. Gloria our granddaughter is alive!," Erick looked like he was in shock, before shaking out of his stupor and continued, "We can’t tell the press. There were would be a worldwide search for her and if the lands she's talking about is really from her mother's book, then, as much as it pains me to say this: We have to let her go.” The grandmother was now known as Gloria nodded slowly in agreement.

“Just as she wrote, we have to trust her. Come now, Erick let’s write back to her and leave the letter on the porch.”

“I think there’s going to be multiple letters for her on the porch.” Both grandparents smiled and walked into the mansion to write back to their granddaughter as Jun smiled before going off to look for something to eat as she waited.

It was dark outside, Jun sat outside on a tree branch looking into the grandfather’s study watching both elder’s talking and writing on a piece of paper. Before the Grandmother broke away and worked on writing her own letter.

They were crying, laughing, talking, shouting, dancing as they wrote the letters for Faye, before calming down and going back on the porch with three letters sitting there for Jun. They placed a kiss on each of the letters and walking back into their home. Jun waited a couple moments before swooping down and collecting the three letters that were written and flew back home.

She flew above people twirling and spinning on frozen water, everything had a sheet of white over it as she went back the way she came. Everything that she saw during the bright hours of the day she saw the same things she could see below her was the open ocean and on occasion, she would see little fishing boats, or ships in the ocean, even with how high she was in the air, just as clearly as she had during the day.

Jun saw the familiar forest of what she called home and entered the familiar barrier she was so accustomed to entering and leaving, before coming closer to the tower that the protector and his mate lives in.

Jun stopped at the windowsill about to let out a noise to announce her arrival and good news, but Faye and Naois were sleeping soundly. It was almost like they didn't move from when she left earlier that day, she left the three letters on the table and flew back to the tree where she and her siblings called home.
