Saving His Feral Mate -
Chapter 61: Let her go
* TRIGGER WARNING, VIOLENCE AND MENTION OF s****l ASSAULT*
Sheryl POV
My entire body was trembling with fear, I was terrified of what Kyle might do to me. I believed his threats, the sinister look in his eyes made it clear he wasn’t bluffing. I had no idea where he was taking me, but I knew I had to follow or he wouldn’t hesitate to kill me and my pup.
It was dark outside, the only light illuminating the sky was from the moon shining above us. It was also eerily quiet, the only sounds were coming from the leafs crunching under our feet and my quiet sobs.
A cold shiver ran down my spine when Kyle brought up my second chance mate. He sounded beyond angry and borderline insane. I heard him refer to my mate as, them, which confused me but I didn’t put much thought into it. He had clearly lost his mind and wasn’t thinking straight.
I was hopeful that the warriors on patrol would replace us, but when we crossed the border into rogue territory that hope quickly faded. The patrol warriors don’t usually cross the border, not unless there was a good reason.
He continued to drag me through the forest, when suddenly I heard a twig snap. Almost at the exact same time, the scent of rogues invaded my nose. Normally the smell would worry me, but not today. I knew Max had been staying with a few other rogues outside of our territory. I was silently praying to the moon goddess for it to be her.
Kyle roughly wrapped his arm around my waist before pulling me against his body. I felt the cold, metallic blade of his knife press into my throat. A whimper left my lips when the blade sliced through my skin and I felt the warm trickle of b***d run down my neck. It wasn’t a deep wound, but it hurt nonetheless.
“I suggest you let her go if you don’t want to die here today.” A calm, yet familiar voice warned, before Max stepped out from behind some bushes. Seeing her brought back some of that hope from earlier. Maybe she’ll be able to save my baby and I.
“Let her go? Like hell I will. She’s MINE!” Kyle seethed.
I saw Jo and a few other rogues come into view. They all stood next to Max and faced us.
“She’s not yours anymore and you have no one to blame for that, but yourself.” Max retorted.
“Leave us or I’ll f*****g kill her.” Kyle growled, before his arm around my waist tightened and the blade dug a little deeper into my skin. Tears were flowing freely down my cheeks, I was terrified. I feared that he would actually kill me if they didn’t leave.
“Not happening, you’re probably planning on killing her anyway.” Max quickly replied.
“I’m f*****g warning you, I’ll do it.” Kyle said and now you could hear the desperation in his tone.
“Let’s talk about this.” Jo tried to negotiate. I could see the concern in his eyes, he was worried for me.
“There’s nothing to talk about, we’re leaving and no one’s going to stop us.” Kyle spat out, while dragging me sideways with him.
“You’re a piece of s**t, you know that? She’s carrying your own flesh and b***d and you’re threatening her life? You’re nothing but a coward, a pathetic excuse of a man.” Max spat out and I immediately felt Kyle tense. This wasn’t good, Kyle had a bad temper and it was about to come out.
“You know, I liked you better the first time I met you.” Kyle taunted in a dangerously calm voice. I had no idea what he was talking about, but his calmness scared me.
Max didn’t reply, she seemed surprised by his reaction and looked almost curious about where Kyle was going with his statement.
“You probably don’t remember me, do you? I certainly could never forget you.” He added and I could hear the smugness in his tone.
“Kyle, I suggest you give up now before you cross that line of no return.” Jo gritted out through clenched teeth.
“Oh Joseph, I hope you don’t mind that Max and I have history together?” He asked and chuckled at the same time. A low, dangerous growl left Jo’s chest and Max’s facial expression hardened. There was still a hint of confusion mixed in with her anger.
I had no idea what Kyle was talking about, but he seemed to be egging them on. What kind of history do they have together? It was hard to think about anything other than the blade that was digging into my throat.
“She was quite the slut back then. Weren’t you, Max?” He said cooly and I watched Max ball her fists in anger. The confusion I saw earlier was completely gone and now she looked murderous.
“I have to admit, Max. I was disappointed when I found out you killed Seth. It’s not everyday a man’s willingly share his mate with others.” He taunted and my eyes widened in shock. The realization of what Kyle was inferring sunk in and I instantly felt sick to my stomach. The man I once loved, hurt Max in one of the worst possible ways. I wanted to kill him myself. I felt sad and angry for Max. How could anyone do that to another human being? It was deeply disgusting.
“I’m going to enjoy killing you.” Max growled and the venom in her tone caused a cold chill to run through my body. She didn’t sound like the Max I knew, this side of her was terrifying.
Jo’s body was convulsing like he had just been electrocuted. It was clear he was trying to hold back his wolf, but was losing the battle. His body was stuck in a partially shift, there was fur sprouting from his skin and his canines had elongated. The only reason Kyle was still alive was because of me.
“You kill me and I kill her.” Kyle warned and waved the knife in front of us before bringing it back to my throat.
Before anyone could replied, I heard shuffling coming from somewhere behind us. Kyle must have heard it too, because he quickly shifted our position so that he could watch both directions at the same time.
“Let her go, Kyle.” Knox commanded as he came into view. Chloe was standing by his side and by the looks on their faces, it was clear that they had heard the disgusting things Kyle said.
“It’s nice of you to join us, brother.” Kyle spat out bitterly.
“I said, let her go.” Knox gritted out.
Their voices faded into the background when a familiar scent hit my nose. It was absolutely intoxicating and I recognized it immediately, my mate was close by. The part I didn’t understand, was the scent that was mingling with his. It was equally as alluring, but slightly different.
I heard someone clear their throat over my left shoulder, but couldn’t turn my head to look because of the knife that was still firmly pressed against my throat. I felt Kyle turn his body in that direction and when he did, a flash of something appeared in my right peripheral vision.
Kyle hissed as the pressure on my throat eased and the knife was removed. I let out a relieved breath before my hand instinctively moved to cover my sore throat.
I looked over my shoulder and saw my mate holding Kyle’s hand in a vice grip. Seconds later, the knife fell from his hand and my mate started punching Kyle repeatedly in the face. I heard the sickening sound of bones crunching and for some reason a whimper left my lips. I couldn’t explain it, but it was almost as if I could still feel some of Kyle’s emotions and pain.
I was distracted from the sight, when a pair of muscular arms wrapped themselves around my body and pulled me into a hard chest. He successfully shielded my view from the horrific scene that was unfolding. I was grateful for that, I hated violence.
Sparks ignited throughout my body and I knew it was from the mate bond. I didn’t understand how that was possible, my mate was busy dealing with Kyle. Who was holding me? That’s when I inhaled deeply. The scent coming from the man holding me, was the same as the one I picked up at the hospital. The other man smelled slightly different, but equally as intoxicating.
“You’re safe now, I got you.” The man holding me cooed, while gently rubbing my back in a comforting way. His voice was sexy and gruff and I immediately felt butterflies in my stomach. I felt safe in his arms and his voice was comforting.
I slowly raised my head to look at his face and gasped when my eyes met his. He looked identical to the guy that was punching Kyle. I looked over my shoulder to try and replace that guy and gasped when I found him standing directly behind me.The two men looked so similar, but now that I had a chance to observe them properly, I noticed a few differences. The man in front of me had hazel eyes, while the other one had green ones.
My eyes drifted back and forth between the two men and it felt like a dream. I must have been hallucinating. How could it be possible? They’re almost identical and I felt a pull towards both of them.
‘Mates!’ My wolf chirped excitedly in my head.
‘Both Mine.’ She purred and that’s when the realization hit me, my second chance mates were twins.
Everything started to make sense. Kyle had said, them, earlier and Chloe made a comment about my mate having a brother. She just failed to mention that it was a twin brother. My thoughts where interrupted when the twin pressed against my back asked a question.
“Are you ok, mate?” He asked. I couldn’t replace my words so I simply nodded.
“We’re going to take care of you, you and our pup.” He added and the sincerity in his words was undeniable. He lowered his nose into the crook of my neck before inhaling deeply. When he trailed it along my skin, goosebumps erupted everywhere.
The twin in front of me did the same thing, but on the opposite side of my neck.
“You smell delectable.” He purred and I felt his warm breath fan my skin, causing a shiver to run down my spine.
Was I nervous? Yes. Was I scared? Surprisingly, no. I felt safe in their arms and actually believed what they were saying. I had never felt that way with Kyle. Kyle always did his best to put me down and was emotional abusive. The twins were being so gentle and loving, it was almost surreal.
“She’s mine!” I heard Kyle roar from somewhere behind me, before I felt a sharp pain in my chest. The pain was intense enough to make me whimper.
“What happened?” The twins asked in unison and I could hear the concern in their voices.
“It hurts.” I cried and pointed to my chest.
“I’m sorry my love. Max is going to kill him and there’s nothing anyone can do to stop her.” One of the twins stated and he sounded apologetic.
“She stabbed Kyle in the chest, you’re feeling his pain through whatever is left of your bond. It won’t be as intense because you rejected him, but you’ll still feel some of his pain.” The other twin explained and his voice was full of concern.
“Make it stop.” I pleaded, while another whimper left my lips. The pain wasn’t nearly as intense as when Kyle cheated on me, but it was still there and I was worried for my baby.
“Do you trust us?” The one in front of me asked and I immediately nodded my head. It might be hard to believe after everything I had been through, but I truly did. Everything about them felt right and if Max and Chloe vouched for them, I had no reason not to trust them
“We can make the pain go away, but you need to let us mark you. When we claim you it will sever whatever is left of your bond with Kyle.” The twin behind said softy and his voice was reassuring.
“Please, do it.” I whispered, while fisting the shirt of the twin in front of me.
“Close your eyes my love, it will be over soon” The twin in front of me cooed and I did as he instructed.
Warm breath fanned both sides of my neck, before I felt the piercing pain of two sets of canines plunge into my flesh. I gasped at the initial pain, before the sounds leaving my mouth quickly turned into m***s and the pain turned into intense pleasure.
As they retracted their teeth, I was left in a state of pure bliss. My body went limp and if the twins weren’t holding onto me, I would have collapsed to the ground.
“Sleep mate, we got you.” One of the twins whispered before I felt someone scoop me up and darkness took over.
