Saving Kinsley -
Shifted
When I finally fully shifted I released a loud and long mournful howl, for all the years of abuse and for the lost love from the Family didn't remember. My wolfs howl was met with another howl off in the distance, it was calling to her. We took off at an unbelievable speed in the opposite direction of the howl and started racing through the trees. Another howl broke the night, this time closer. We were being chased and my wolf was thrilled. All that was running through our shared mind was 'Mate'.
We neared a small river when we felt like we were no longer being tailed. My wolf lapped at the water at our feet, I noticed what she looked like. Her coat of fur matched my hair, it was brown with some reds mixed in making it look like a warm fire. Her eyes were the same green, except they seemed to glow brighter with life, and hope. "You're so beautiful." I whispered through our shared mind. I watched as her ear twitched in recognition of my voice before she replied. "Thank you, My name is Ember. I'm sorry to have kept you waiting this long, I was waiting for the right time. For when it was safe.." She said while looking up from the water and off into the tree line. "Yeah, I could've used you a long time ago."
My wolf went silent, she was checking the tree line and stiffened when we caught a scent. It was the scent of our mate, the scent smelled like pine trees right after it rained. Fresh and renewing. His scent was mixed in among others as well though. The knowledge of other wolves coming near set me and my wolf on edge the second we caught their scents.
Four wolves finally broke through the tree line, slowly prowling towards me. My guard was up, I kept an eye on every single one as they circled me. I let out low warning growls, saying I was not afraid and I'd die protecting my self. One wolf stood out to me as I watched, he was bigger than the rest. His coat was a Midnight black, it reflected the moons gaze that was now cast on us. His eyes matched mine, but with hints of gold flickering in them. He didn't come as close as the rest, instead he stayed back and watched me with curiosity. I instantly felt a pull towards him, I took a step and was met by a growl from my right. My head snapped in the direction and I released a deep growl and showed my teeth at the small brown wolf that was keeping me from my mate.
The small brown wolf moved in between my mate and I and took a fighting stance, my wolf slipped into a defensive position and rose its hackles. We released a more deadly warning growl, one I felt in my soul. I waited for the brown wolf to make its move, I had no idea what I was doing but I knew id react in pure instinct. I would no longer roll over and let anyone walk over me, I'd take what I wanted, fight for who I wanted. Fight for my self. A twig snapped from my left and I glanced over long enough for the brown wolf to make its lunge at me, I reacted quickly and was out of the way of snapping jaws.
I instantly retaliated with my own strike, and it was precise on its mark, my teeth had sunk into its front leg. My mouth was now filled with a metallic taste, I could feel it dripping from my mouth. The brown wolfs painful howl reverberated through me, but it still took an offensive position. This fight wasn't over. I snarled and waited for the next attack, knowing now that it'd favor the left side from the injury I inflicted on the right.
My assumption was correct, it leaned more towards the left as it lunged again at me, this time I saw the wolf coming. I lunged back and caught the wolf by its throat, I instantly clamped down and waited for the wolf to concede to me, to submit. The wolf tried to fight my hold, but I tightened down with a death grip with every move. It was a warning. Concede or Die. The wolf stilled and angled its head in submission, and I released. I turned my back to leave when I heard a growl erupt from the brown wolf, it wasn't done, and I snarled in annoyance. Before the brown wolf could attack, the Midnight black wolf released its own warning, one that held authority and a finality. The brown wolf instantly fell to the ground in submission, and before my eyes the midnight black wolf transformed into his human form.
My mate stood before me, he looked like a god. His hair was a jet black and his eyes still the same green with gold as his wolfs, his form was muscled and toned. Skin was tan, like he spent every day under the sun. He looked directly at me and spoke, "Shift, mate." his voice settled in my soul, and I gave in and shifted. I now stood before him, naked. My hair flowed to my waste and sides as the wind blew, I watched as he closed his eyes and took in a deep breath when my scent had reached him. His eyes shot open and he released a growl at the on looking wolves around us. Two of them instantly dropping their gazes from me, and the brown wolf looked on. It finally shifted, but to my astonishment it was a girl, it was Danielle. She was the ring leader of the wolves who beat me every chance they got.
"Dakota, darling. This slave is not your mate, lets go home now." Danielle said to him. I let out a possessive growl at her statement. "Get. Your. Hands. Off. " Her gaze snapped towards me " Or what? " she snarled at me. "Enough Danielle, go home. Alone." My mate spoke, finally.
