Liana POV

Gary and Elaine's house is nearly as impressive as the mansion. Tree branches hang low and mysteriously over the cobblestone driveway, which ends at an enormous fountain. "Wow, did you grow up here?" Adele looks curiously at Luther.

"Yes," he smiles. "And I'm not going to lie, it was good."

"I can vouch for that," Axel adds. "As kids, we climbed every tree and swam in the fountain."

"My mother hated that," Luther grins.

"That she did," Axel chuckles as he parks the car.

"Are you alright?" I whisper to Luther as we walk towards the house. I have never seen him nervous before.

"No," he grunts and clings to Adele's hand for moral support. "I haven't been here in ten years."

"It's okay," Adele snuggles closer to him. "We're here for you.

"I'm also here because of you," Luther tries to lighten the mood.

"I'll take full responsibility for your breakdown," I play along. "How much does emotional damage go for these days?"

"At least a Lamborghini," he snorts before knocking on the door.

"Mister Luther," the Omega gapes at him when she opens the door. I can tell that she is ecstatic to see him by how her eyes sparkle.

"Hello, Pippa," Luther hugs the older woman, and she starts blushing. "It's so good to see you."

"Okay, Mister Luther," she lowers her eyes and lets go of him. "Welcome home, your parents are on the patio in the back."

"Thanks," he gives her a charming smile and she hurries away without glancing in our direction.

"Are you that familiar with all the Omegas?" Adele frowns.

"Only the ones that changed my diaper," he grins as we follow him towards the patio. His nervousness was long forgotten. "She was more of a mother than my own." "Just don't let your mother hear that," Axel mumbles.

I immediately recognise Luther's father as we step outside.

They have the same muscular jawline and chocolate-brown eyes.

"Luther," Gary looks like he has seen a ghost when he gets out of his chair and walks towards his son.

I look at Elaine. For a brief second, surprise and happiness flash across her face before she neatly tucks away her feelings behind her perfect makeup. Her body stiffens when she looks at us, a clear indication that she feels threatened by our presence. An awkward silence surrounds us as Luther and his parents only stare at one another. Uncertain of what to do.

"Hello," Axel breaks the ice as he steps forward to greet Gary and Elaine. "Nice to see you again."

"Oh, sorry," Gary pulls himself together and looks at us apologetically. "This visit is so unexpected; I completely forgot my manners."

"This is my mate," Luther pulls Adele closer to his side."

Alpha Adele."

"Nice to meet you." Elaine's eyes sparkle. "We heard about this, but.."

"But since I walked away, you didn't think you'd meet her,"

Luther says sourly.

"Well, yes," Elaine admits softly.

"Have a seat," Gary offers politely. "We have so much to catch up."

"Not really," Luther shrugs as he pulls out a chair for Adele.

"You've been keeping tabs on me, and I'm only here to discuss my sibling, which we're not allowed to talk about."

"I'll get us something to drink," Elaine's lips are pulled into a thin white line.

"Adele and I will help," I say quickly. No way is she getting off so easily, and Adele stands up before she even settles into the chair comfortably.

"It's not necessary," Elaine smiles stiffly.

"We insist," I smile sweetly, and reluctantly, she allows me and Adele to follow her.

Luther POV

"It's good to see you, my son," Dad says softly when the women disappear into the house. "I missed you."

I nod and look at the garden as I fight my emotions. I have missed him too but at the same time, I am still angry at him. And I blame him. If he were not so stubborn, we would not have spent ten years apart. "You look good, Dad," I smile weakly. Actually, I wanted to say he got old. Because he has. The past decade was not good for him.

"Thanks, I.."

"Dad," I cut him off brusquely. "I'm sorry, I'm not here for small talk. I want to know about my brother or sister."

"Luther, I can't," he looks apologetically at me. "I made a promise to your mother."

"Are you happy, Dad?" I lean forward and look him in the eye. "Was your life with Mom worth throwing away your child?"

"I didn't throw her away," Dad hisses through clenched jaws.

"So, I have a sister," I murmur, and Dad's eyes widen when he realizes his mistake. "Where is she, Dad?"

"I swear to the goddess, I don't know," his gaze does not waver from mine. "I don't even know her name. I paid her mother two million dollars, and I have never heard or seen them again." "Who's the mother?" I continue relentlessly.

"Luther..."

"Tell me," I demand. "Or I'll put an ad in every paper and on every social platform until I replace her."

"Then do it," Father challenges me.

"Okay," I smile slyly. "Just remember, if you had more than one ... uhm, indiscretion, those women would come forward. Especially if I offer a substantial reward for every bit of information."

"Okay, fine," he grunts and looks at the door to ensure Mother's not on her way back.

"Her name was Edith," he sighs. "She was a waitress at Red Ox. That's all I know. It was just a fling, Luther."

"A fling," I snort. "And my sister had to pay the price."

"Enough," Dad glares at me. "I'm not doing this again with you. I made a mistake, and I paid my dues. That baby didn't grow up poor, I made sure of that. She would've had everything she ever desired. It's not like I tossed her out in the cold to starve to death." "She had everything but a father," I hiss and stand up to leave.

"Everything but a family. Father's Day must've been the highlight of her year."

Adele POV

"From an Omega to an Alpha," Elaine says as she studies me from head to toe once we are in the kitchen. "That's impressive, congratulations."

"Thank you," I shrug uncomfortably. "I don't care much for the title. I'm doing it for the people, not myself."

"It's more than a title, dear," she laughs as she winks an Omega closer. Liana and I do not say a word as she orders the drinks.

"It's a way of life," she continues.

"It's an entirely different

set of rules for you."

"Really?" I cross my arms in front of my chest. "Like denying your child?"

"Ah, judgment," she sneers. "Alphas are allowed to judge, and no one can point a finger. You took on the roll nicely."

"You're mistaken," I laugh humourlessly. "I would've judged as an Omega as well."

"Listen here, missy," all niceties disappear into thin air, and Elaine glares at her. "You might be an alpha, and you might be my son's mate, but you weren't here. You weren't the one who's been cheated on. You weren't the one who had to face society and the rumours and the scandal. Gary didn't cheat on me with a respectable woman. No, he chose a sleazy alcoholic. She reeked of alcohol and cigarettes when she knocked on our door. Goddess knows if that were even Gary's child. So, take your judgement and shove it." "That makes everything much worse," Liana growls, and Elaine pales. Telling a neighbouring pack's alpha to shove it, is easy. But there is no way you say that to your Luna and live. "You saw with your own eyes that mother was incapable, and you had the opportunity to take that child from her. You could've given that baby a life and opportunities. Even if he or she weren't blood, you could've helped, but you allowed your pride to take over."

"I'm not going to apologize, Luna," Elaine straightens her shoulders. "I know who I am and I'm not capable of caring for strays. If that child turned out not to be Gary's, I would've been the worst possible mother." "That child isn't a stray," Liana argues. "That child is of alpha descendant. That child deserved to grow up within an alpha household."

"If," Elaine insists. "If it were Gary's child."

"If you truly doubted the child's paternity, you would've insisted on a test and cleared your name," Liana glares at her. "You wouldn't have paid a clueless, addicted mother a boatload of money and wave bon voyage." "Luna, I.."

"I heard enough," Liana silences her. "I'm just thankful you never became a Luna because you failed a pack member miserably and then you have the audacity to preach to alpha Adele."

"Luna, I do apologize if I offended you," Elaine says softly." I was only defending my actions."

"You didn't offend me," Liana snorts. "You pissed me off."

"Ladies"" Luther interrupts us. "I assume it's time to go?"

"You assume correctly," Liana huffs and I follow her towards the door. "Goodbye, Elaine."
