Chapter 105
Winston had a captivating bass voice, especially when he expressed his intention to make amends, showing great affection for Joanna. Millie felt a pang in her heart at his words.
She gazed deeply into his eyes and offered a gentle smile. Saying nothing more, she turned backtoward the private room.
If Joanna found out that the five premium lobsters she ordered to cause trouble for Millie were paidby Winston, she would likely be furious.
Winston gazed upon Millie’s back, his eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions. In the past, Milliewould have surely caused a commotion upon hearing him attempting to please Joanna.
However, this time, she simply glanced at him before turning away. Was this because she no longerloved him or because she loved him too much and had to pretend not to care?
Millie returned to the private room, purposefully leaving the door ajar because she knew thatWinston would come to see Joanna. True to her expectations, Winston knocked on the door assoon as Millie
settled into a seat.
Win!” Joanna quickly stood up and walked toward Winston.
He lowered his gaze, gently ran his finger through Joanna’s hair, and asked, “Have you finishedeating? I’ll take you home.”
Millie glanced at both of them and then quietly drank some water.
When the department staff saw that it was Winston, they immediately tried to persuade him to stay.Mr. Greer, we’ve just started eating! Take a seat and join us.”
Joanna and Winston were regular faces at all sorts of events, and they were always seen together. It was no secret to anyone the nature of their relationship. Meanwhile, Millie, the legal wife, sat tothe side, seemingly invisible and insignificant.
“This is your department’s gathering. It’s not appropriate for me to be here.” Winston declined.
“Since everyone has invited you to stay, why don’t you simply join us? Millie is here as well.”Joanna glanced at Millie.
Winston gazed at Millie as she lounged in a chair, engrossed in her phone. She appeared thin andlonely. The table was full of seafood, but it seemed like there wasn’t much she could eat, given herdietary restrictions.
After glancing at Winston, Millie ignored him and continued focusing on her phone.
Seeing her ignore him, Winston inexplicably agreed. “Alright.”
He and Joanna sat across from Millie. As he took his seat, his intense gaze locked onto her. Millietightened her grip on the phone and lowered her head.
The dinner continued, and everyone began sharing stories about the peculiar patients they hadencountered throughout the day. From time to time, Millie glanced around at the group, offeringgentle

smiles. She also intermittently took small sips of water from her glass.
Hazel sat next to Millie and noticed her looking lonely. She kindly offered her some food. “Dr.Caldwell, you have to try this. The lobster is absolutely delicious!”
“You should eat more.” Millie pushed it back to Hazel
Hazel rejected. “I’ve tried it.”
There weren’t many lobsters, so she only took a small bite. Trying that bite was enough for her.
“Please, go ahead. I have no appetite.” Millie admired Hazel for her sensibility, but the doctor hadadvised her to avoid eating seafood for the time being.
Vanessa also picked up some seafood for Millie. “Since Hazel gave it to you, just try it. This isdelicious too!”
Millie looked at the seafood piled on her plate and replied, “Okay, you guys eat too.”
That being said, she still didn’t eat, but she did take a sip of water. As long as everyone had a goodtime and enjoyed their meal, that was what really mattered. She simply joined in the fun and tried tobuild a good relationship with them.
Winston’s gaze fell on Millie. She was undeniably pretty. Her every smile and frown exuded a graceand charm that couldn’t be replicated.
Joanna was adorable and naive. But when she was with Millie, she showed a noticeable contrast offrivolity and ignorance.
Millie didn’t eat anything, so whatever was on her plate stayed the same.
