Upon hearing what he said, Millie felt a lump form in her throat. She couldn’t bear it any longer, andin the next instant, tears welled up in her eyes.

Winston’s humiliation was even more suffocating than his lack of love.

Seeing Millie on the verge of tears, Winston felt a sense of satisfaction. It was as if he had emergedvictorious from a war.

“Why are you crying? Do you think I’ve mistreated you?”

Winston lifted Millie’s chin and stared into her eyes. He seemed fierce, a stark contrast to thegentleman he once was.

“Millie, bear with it. You brought this on yourself!”

As soon as those words escaped his lips, his kisses fell relentlessly. The tension in the car waspalpable, and Millie gasped for air as his kisses overwhelmed her.

Her body went rigid. She felt as though the warmth radiating from him was almost burning her.Winston’s remark echoed in her mind. Indeed, she had brought this on herself.

She shouldn’t have fallen in love or gotten involved with him. She was the one who had pursuedhim and insisted on marrying him.

It was no surprise that Winston humiliated her. She had behaved shamelessly, showing no self-

respect.

Terrence was right. She had lost all the dignity a woman should possess.

At that point, Millie closed her eyes. She decided to stop resisting and let Winston kiss her howeverhe pleased.

However, he wasn’t satisfied with just kissing. Immediately after, his hands started roaming underher

clothes.

Finally, at that moment, tears trickled down from the corner of Millie’s eyes as she grippedWinston’s arms tightly. Her voice broke the silence in the car, pleading, “Don’t…”

Her warm tears landed on the corner of Winston’s mouth. He thought they tasted bitter. Over theyears, Millie had cried so many times in front of him that he had lost count.

“Don’t touch me,” Millie uttered. Her voice choked with sobs, yet there was a hint of defiance in it.

All she wanted was to maintain some dignity in Winston’s presence, even if it was just a little bit. Butthe more vulnerable she seemed, the more Winston wanted to mistreat her.

“Drop the act, Millie,” he hissed.

A wave of sorrow washed over Millie upon hearing that. Tears clung to her trembling eyelashes, herlipstick had smudged, and her lips were somewhat swollen.

Millie pushed his hand away. It seemed like she had used all her strength to do so. “Winston Greer,I owe you nothing!” she snapped.

Winston scoffed. His gaze grew increasingly furious as he said coldly, “You owe me a lot more thanyou think, Millie. If it weren’t for you, I would have married Joanna long ago. And the three of uswouldn’t end up like this!”

Millie’s heart faltered. Then, his lips fell on her neck once more. He sucked fiercely, attempting toleave his mark.

It hurt, yet the heartache was profoundly deeper. After all, Winston was convinced that she was thereason the three of them had ended up like that.

“Even without me, Joanna could never marry into the Greer family,” Millie remarked indifferently.Winston sneered. He held her chin tightly and ridiculed her without mercy, “Don’t act so smug! Ifyou could marry into the Greer family, why couldn’t Joanna? Millie, you’ve always overestimatedyourself!* Millie’s heart faltered, unable to retort. She had indeed thought too highly of herself.Otherwise, she wouldn’t have confidently declared that she wouldn’t lose in this marriage.
