League 340

Chapter 340

Michael was stunned for a moment, then straightened his clothes and asked, “Did I guess wrong?”

This seemed impossible. He wouldn’t be wrong. Wasn’t Millie’s behavior driven by her concern thatWinston would be involved?

Millie stared at Winston with teary eyes and exclaimed, “It was the Lowell family who did it! It wasJoanna! Your unforgettable first love hired someone to kill me multiple times. Winston, youcondoned this.”

If Winston had not continuously been partial toward Joanna, she wouldn’t have been able torepeatedly attack her.

“Millie, this has nothing to do with Joanna,” Winston said nervously.

Eli conducted a thorough investigation and confirmed that Joanna wasn’t responsible for it.

Millie’s heart throbbed with a piercing ache upon hearing those words. Her hair danced in thebreeze as she sneered. “Are you defending Joanna because you love her? Do you think it’s okay forher to kill me one day?”

Winston was at a loss for words

Michael blinked and exclaimed silently. “This is great.”

“I’ll take her place. Just let her go.” Winston stood up and took a step forward.

However, Michale said, “But Ms. Caldwell doesn’t need your help. She’s a righteous person whowould rather die than reach out to you.”

He smiled and shook the dagger in his hand before sighing. “Winston, you don’t love Ms. Caldwellanyway. Why not let her die in front of you?”

Winston’s eyes darkened. “What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Ms. Caldwell, if you were to die in front of him, he would remember you for the rest of his life. Hewould also feel guilty for the rest of his life. Michael’s smile revealed a sinister intent.

Millie didn’t speak. She just lowered her head and looked at the bricks under the tall building.Michael directly cut off the bell, and it fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

The police arrived, and the bustling scene downstairs dazzled Millie.

With her back turned to Winston, she was unable to observe his expression. However, she caughtthe sound of his gasp. His voice was filled with anguish and despair. “No!”

“No? You don’t even love her. So why do you care about her so much? Just let her die!” Michael’svoice grew increasingly deranged, with each word feeling like a sharp knife mercilessly piercingMillie’s heart.

Winston strode forward and forcefully kicked Michael’s arm just as he was about to cut the rope. Itcaused his hand to loosen and the dagger to fall to the ground.

Millie immediately turned to the sound and witnessed Michael and Winston grappling with eachother. Subsequently, the lackeys rushed over to aid Michael.

Michael yelled, “Pick up the dagger and stab him. If we’re caught today, we will all suffer. We willdie!

Michael yelled, “Pick up the dagger and stab him. If we’re caught today, we will all suffer. We willdie!

We’re paid to do this, so we must act decisively!”

Winston fought four people single–handedly. Even though they were not particularly strong, he wasstill outnumbered.

While fighting them bravely, his white shirt slowly became stained with blood. Beads of sweatsoaked his forehead and dampened his hair. Throughout the ordeal, he cast countless reassuringglances at Millie, silently urging her not to be afraid.

Millie gazed at him, her heart pounding fiercely. It felt like she had been transported back to highschool. Despite being injured from the fight, he had shielded her and guided her out of harm’s way.

He was the kind of person who would rescue her when she was in danger, always watching out forher. Yet, he had never loved her. How ironic.

Michael picked up the dagger once more. Winston took two steps back and found himself rightbeside Millie. Michael advanced, laughing maniacally. “Perfect! The two of you can die together.”

There were distinct footsteps from the stairs. Time was running out, and they had no intention ofwasting it by talking to Winston. Without hesitation, Michael cut the rope directly.
