Chapter 372
Millie was willing to pay any price for the butterfly necklace if Winston agreed to sell it to her.
He left the car. “Let’s eat for now.”
She stared at him wordlessly. He peered at her from outside the car. Then, he teased her, “Do youwant
the necklace or not?”
Damn it. She hated that the necklace had fallen into his hands. Now, she was subjected to hiswhims. Her stomach growled from hunger, and she thought getting a free meal out of Winstonwouldn’t hurt.
She entered the restaurant and sent Marvin her geolocation. She texted him, “Join us for dinner. Asucker is paying.”
Winston led Millie into a private dining room. All the while, she had been focused on the news, wondering if William might lodge a police report. She decided to hurry back home after dinner forher safety.
“He won’t file a police report. Have your dinner in peace,” Winston said while ordering.
She was caught off guard. How did he read her mind?
Winston quietly checked out the menu and ordered a few of their specialty dishes while Milliecontinued to study him.
He finally looked up calmly. “What’s wrong?”
She opened her mouth but decided against asking the question. She merely said, “Please order twoportions for me.”
She had wanted to ask Winston how he knew William wouldn’t file a police report, but she didn’twant to hear that he was tying up loose ends, as she refused to be involved with him in any way orbe indebted to
him.
They were even.
Winston didn’t read deeper into her actions and merely assumed she was really hungry.
Soon, the food was served. Millie, who only had a cup of tea in the afternoon, gobbled up the foodafter a
day of starving.
Winston asked, “When are you leaving?”
She glanced at him. “I don’t know.”
“You can leave with me,” he suggested.
She smiled. “No, thank you, Mr. Ex–husband.” How awkward would it be if she agreed to hissuggestion?
His lips curled into an amused smile. “Are you scared of me?”
“No. You’re overthinking,” she replied calmly. She wasn’t afraid of Winston; she merely refused tobe entangled with him.
“Millie,” he called, but she didn’t look at him.
In the past, she would immediately turn to him with bright, sparkly eyes when he called her name.Things

were no longer the same.
He was about to bring up the topic of the necklace when they heard a knock on the door. Millielooked up and saw Marvin.
Marvin went up to Millie with a concerned look. “Boss, you alright?”
She smacked him on the head. “Marvin, what’s the matter? Didn’t you see the bodyguards runningafter me? You should have come for me!”
“I did… I was right behind him.” Marvin felt helpless. He arrived seconds later than Winston.
She glared at him before saying, “Tuck in. Mr. Greer is paying.”
“Sure.” Marvin grabbed a chair and settled down beside her. Winston finally realized the reason sheordered for two.
Millie piled up food on Marvin’s plate and served him some water. The two chatted and laughed.
Winston watched, looking upset. She seemed to act like her old self around others, only changingher attitude toward him. He had clearly hurt her.
Would she forgive him if he said he regretted hurting her in the past? He hung his head with mixedfeelings and ate his food.
Winston felt invisible in the dinner of three.
Suddenly, Millie addressed him, “Mr. Greer, about that butterfly necklace…”
He raised his gaze. His profile looked especially gentle under the warm light.
He asked, “Do you want it very badly?”
