League 374

Chapter 374

“Of course. I’ll call you back after I land.” Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed in Millie’s ear. Her eyesflickered open, and she spotted Winston, who had just gotten off a call.

She stared at him wordlessly. What a small world!

Winston wasn’t surprised to run into Millie on the flight, which was the earliest flight back home.

Millie regretted not buying an economy–class seat. Meanwhile, Marvin cleared his throat and lookedout of the window.

“Hello, Ms. Caldwell,” Eli greeted her with a nod.

She stared at her feet. “Hi.”

Silence filled the air.

The sky was dark outside. Millie turned in her seat to avoid looking in Winston’s direction. She wasready to fall asleep after the plane took off, but Winston and Eli would not stop discussing workbeside her. It annoyed her to no end.

“You’re noisy,” she vented without taking a look at them.

Eli looked up. He immediately said to her, “I’m sorry.”

Winston glanced at Millie’s figure with an amused expression before going back to work andspeaking at the same volume.

He remarked, “Call off this project and warn the people in Yerwick not to work with William Pearson. We need to axe all his businesses in Yerwick.”

Millie suddenly sat up in her seat at the mention of William. She looked at Winston. He happened tolook at her. Her hair was a little messy, and her shirt collar was crooked.

“Why don’t we get rid of William Pearson once and for all?” Millie suggested.

Winston nearly choked in surprise. He shot her a wild look. He couldn’t believe she had made thatsuggestion.

Grinning, she added, “And you’ll tell them it’s your work.”

He was dumbstruck. Did she just suggest killing off William and pinning the blame on him?

“Ms. Caldwell, I think you should rest,” he replied amicably.

She clicked her tongue and lay down. Fiddling with her fingers, she thought, “Well, it’s not likeWilliam Pearson has anything to live for.”

After she stabbed him in the stomach, he could never get an erection again. That would be a deadlyblow

to a man.

Feeling tired, she drifted to sleep on her side very soon, Winston and Eli were still discussing work.It wasn’t until they wrapped up that Winston realized she had fallen asleep facing him.

A wave of bitterness washed over him when he pictured all the emotions she had gone through forhim over the years, and he knew they could never go back to where they were.

They landed in Yerwick at seven o’clock. The night had fallen.

Millie and Winston reached the airport entrance one after another.

“Win!” A singsong voice attracted everyone’s attention. Joanna stood by the entrance and waved athim with a bouquet in her arms.

Millie quietly put on her sunglasses and walked past Winston after she spotted Joanna. Winstonlooked at Millie and swallowed hard before approaching Joanna.

Joannå immediately gave him a hug. “Win, I missed you so much.”

He stared at the floor and pushed her away. “How did you know I’d land tonight?”

“Eli told me!” She beamed.

Winston turned and saw Eli’s apologetic face. Eli couldn’t decline to answer Joanna.

“What’s wrong with me asking Eli for your schedule when you refused to tell me?” she grumbled.

Winston didn’t say a word, but soon, he was distracted by a scene.

Terrence had arrived at the airport with a gentleman to pick Millie up. The man shook Millie’s handswith a nervous look in his eyes.
